It's been a long time but... PV

It had been a while since Reuben had received a letter from one of the few girls that he maybe liked a little more than just as a friend. As much as he tried to deny it, Lorelai's face, and how she looked last ball just kept coming back to him. Maybe he could write her a letter asking her to this ball too?

He was lost deep in thought when an owl dropped a letter in front of him. Reuben wondered who it could possibly be. Probably some letter from his relatives. He looked at the name on the letter, and his face lit up as soon as he registered who had written it. So she hadn't forgotten about him. He opened the letter and began to read. Had Lorelai somehow read his mind from that far away and written a letter for him?

Although the part was striked through, Reuben did not miss Lorelai's suggestion to go to the ball as something more than a friend. Maybe it was a mistake, but maybe, just mayyybe it was not? Maybe Lorelai did actually feel about him the same way that he (although he would probably never admit it) felt for her? Reuben took a deep breath in. This was just a mistake. It had to be. Lorelai was probably just thinking of the guy she did actually like while writing the letter, and that was why she messed up. Why would she strike it if it was what she actually wanted?

Reuben took a deep breath in and started writing a letter. After all, he did not have a date for the ball, and although seeing Lorelai in a pretty dress again might just destroy him, he also wanted the honor of being her date and did not want to break the little friendship that was there between them. Who knew? Maybe Lorelai would start feeling the same way for him if they spent some time together? He was probably being delusional, but there was no harm trying, was there?

Dear Lorelai,

I would love to go to the Spring Ball with you!

As a matter of fact, I was just about to write a letter to you when an owl threw your letter on my head. If you have any long distance telepathy powers, please do share.

This is also kind of short, but I'm really really excited to meet you again! It really has been a long time.

Reuben read the letter once and then finally tied it to an owl's foot to be sent to Lorelai.

The 'love' at the end was put on purpose. Most of the time Reuben just ended with 'warm regards'. That one word was the only sign that Reuben was acknowledging any of his actual feelings for Lorelai in the letter. It was something that Lorelai would probably dismiss as normal, but for Reuben, every word meant a lot.

Which reminded him, he still needed to translate the word that Lorelai had written at the end. 'Beijos'. He wasn't even sure what language that was in, but after scrolling through a few dictionaries of different languages, he found the word in a Portuguese dictionary. It meant... 'kisses'. Reuben kept staring at the dictionary, then at the word. Surely it had just been what Lorelai ended every letter of hers with, right? Because if it actually meant something more than that, then Reuben had probably very seriously messed this up. But again, he was probably being delusional yet again. There was no way that a beautiful girl like Lorelai ever have any feelings for him?

Once Reuben's reply arrived, Lori didn't hesitate and tore it open. It was short, but she kept re-reading it. She was almost screaming.

The girl was very prepared for the ball. As a matter of a fact, Lorelai already knew what to wear, and had a back-up plan if Reuben rejected her. But, to her surprise, he did not, and he even ended the letter with the word 'love'. Did he actually like her?

She quickly started writing a reply.

Dear Reuben, Then it's settled! I guess I'll see you there? I'm so excited! Really? Hmm, do I? Or do I not? I'll leave you wondering... Yeah, it has! I'm also super excited! I love balls, especially the one's at Hogwarts! They sure know how to throw amazing balls. As a matter of fact, I had never gone to one until I went to Hogwarts. Anyways, I'll see you there! Beijos!Kisses

Had it been fate? They were both thinking of sending a letter to each other at the same time. But, that was nonsense, Lorelai didn't believe in those things.

She spell-checked and sent it.
