Nodding in agreement, the young prefect listened to Rai. "They are pretty cool. Sadly, I don't have a lot of contact with them anymore, since they are muggles," she shared. The fallout with her childhood best friends had been hard for her, especially since they had managed to keep in touch while living in two different countries. Where two different countries were no match for the trio's friendship, two completely different worlds had been. Being muggle-born, Samantha couldn't share the magical part of her life with her muggle friends and her extended family, something she was still struggling a lot with. Over the years, she drifted further and further away from the muggle world, including her friends and family in it. "This will be the best library fort in the history of library blanket forts," she grinned. "I don't think there have been many, but this one will still be amazing."
The offer of Rai's company during the break made Samantha smile. "More forts sounds amazing!" she replied happily. "And just hanging out is fun as well." As she continued to build the fort, she was quiet for a second, thinking of all the stuff they could do during the break. Samantha considered people her friends fast and she was always open to meeting new people, so the idea of getting to know Raizel better sounded perfect to her. "My boyfriend is also staying during the break," she smiled dreamily. When she had told Bubba that her parents didn't want her to come home, he had offered to stay at Hogwarts as well so she wouldn't be alone. "He is the best and maybe we could do something together," she nodded. "Maybe we could do something fun for easter with the other students who are staying here!" As new ideas popped into her mind, the brunette didn't feel as sad anymore.
"Duels?!" she asked happily. "That's an even better idea!" While building the fort, she started to like Raizel more and more. "Also," Samantha started as a new question popped into her mind. "What house are you in? You aren't Ravenclaw, right?" she wondered. The prefect took pride in knowing a lot of the Ravenclaw students, especially the younger years, as she loved helping them. Raizel didn't ring a bell, so Samantha didn't think she was a part of her house.

Sam must've had a great connection with her muggle friends based on how sad she seemed now that they had drifted away from each other. Maintaining relationships with muggles when your world is completely different from each other. The only experience she has concerning the relationships with muggles are her grandparents from her mother's side but that's a completely different situation with Sam's friends. Her grandparents were told about magic so they know about this magic world that they are walking in while Sam had to keep secrets from them. She let that thought drift away, focusing on what's happening now. "Yeah, it'll be a great library fort." She agreed with that one. Not like she knows any other library forts that's been made so this one is the best for her at the moment.
"Hanging out is fun and your boyfriend?" Raizel asked with a curious look in those brown eyes of hers, her attention on Sam. Even more so when the older girl started talking about him, especially when she looked so dreamy doing so. This boyfriend of hers must be an amazing person. She won't forget that expression anytime soon. "That'd be lovely and I'd like to meet him. He sounds so brilliant with how the way you talk about him." Raizel smiled.
Dueling seemed to have lightened up the older girl's mood which was kind of what the Gryffindor was expecting. Someone from the dueling club would certainly love some practice even during the spring break. "I'm glad that you liked that idea. I am trying to get into the dueling team so practice duels will help me as well in learning more about it. You don't have to hold back either. You can give me your best shot." She grinned. It's a crazy idea going against a higher year… she never learned her lesson after facing off against a 4th year. Hey, it's fun and she does learn… things about dueling that is. "Oh, I'm in Gryffindor." She answered Sam's question when she asked about her house.

The younger student seemed curious to her boyfriend, which wasn't very surprising as Samantha talked about him like he was the best person ever to walk the earth. Which he was, obviously! Well, according to her. However, it isn't wise to trust the opinion of a madly in-love teenage girl when she is talking about her first-ever boyfriend. Their relationship was lasting surprisingly long and they hadn't had a lot of fights. Some silly fights about things such as if pineapple belongs on pizza or Bubba's cursing, but that was it. "He is brilliant!" she agreed.
When she learned that Raizel was trying to get into the duelling club, her grin widened. She had to hold herself back from interrupting the other. Maybe she could even train the younger student! Being a duelling captain was one of her great joys. "I can teach you all I know!" her enthusiasm was clear, even a blind person would be able to see it. Maybe she would be able to teach Rai so much, she would be able to win all her duels. Maybe Rai would even be a prodigy in duelling! The brunette completely forgot about the fort as the ideas formed themselves in her mind.
"Gryffindor you say?" Samantha was right. Of course, she was. "It's not as cool as Ravenclaw, but I will allow it," she informed Rai with a teasing smile on her face. "I think we are almost done with the fort," the girl added with a proud smile. "Once it is done we can chill inside!!" Building the fort was a lot of fun, but just chilling in it was amazing as well. It was always super cosy and fun, especially with family or friends.
In Dutch they had a word for it; gezellig. The word didn't really exist in English or in any other language. Some words got really close, but they were never the same. It was a feeling of coziness and warmth but it was never complete without people. In order for things to be gezellig, you needed people around. People you felt comfortable with and enjoyed spending time with. Rai seemed like a fun person. Of course, Samantha usually got along easily with people, but she liked this kid a bit more than some others. Obviously, their shared love of duelling was one of the big things that had tipped the scales in Rai's favour. But the fact that not many people would build a blanket fort with a random person in the library also played a big role.

❂《 ⌜ Sometime Before Spring Break ▎ --:-- ⌟▛▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔The moment Raizel heard Sam being willing to teach her all she knows about duelling was probably the best thing that happened so far in this unexpected meeting with the older Ravenclaw girl aside from building this cozy looking fort that is. Slowly but surely, it was starting to like one and she can’t help but feel excited to relax inside while she gets some tips from Sam about duelling, maybe about spells, heck, she could potentially learn advance spells from her that she could add to her spell notebook while hoping for it to be close to her skill level so she could get to try it out soon.
For an enthusiastic aspiring duellist like her, anyone that could give her some duelling advice would immediately go to her well-loved page. It’s fun getting to know people who has the same interest as her and she gets to learn from them as well. She scratched her head when Sam made the remark about Gryffindor not being as cool as Ravenclaw, showing a sheepish smile. She wasn’t offended but rather surprised and glad to know that despite being in a different house, and being possible rivals, especially when their house is against each other in future duelling events, she was still willing to teach her things.
“Can’t wait to chill inside then and learn more. How do you feel when you duel people?” she asked with curiosity, remembering her duel with Ying. That felt exciting and scary at the same time and somehow, a bit disappointing when your spells just refused to work when you needed them. She wonders if others feel the same.

The sheepish smile Rai gave after Samantha stated the superiority of Ravenclaw, made the third year giggle softly. Maybe the other didn’t believe her, but Ravenclaw was the best. Nobody could change her mind about that. Gryffindor were fun to be around but not as cool as Ravenclaw. The brunette had been proud of her house since the moment the sorting hat called out Ravenclaw and she would be proud of it until she died. If she ever had children and they wouldn’t get into Ravenclaw, she would be very disappointed. Of course, she would still love them, just a bit less.
Just chilling inside the blanket fort sounded like a lovely idea. It hadn’t taken the two students super long to build the fort but it still looked pretty good, at least, according to her. The pillows Samantha threw inside made the fort look even cosier. “It is amazing,” she stated as she peeked inside of the fort. “We did a great job!”
How did she feel when she duelled people? That was a great question. It hadn’t been something she thought about a lot. The girl turned quiet, trying to remember the feeling she got when she stepped on stage. “I feel powerful,” she said, a bit softer than before. A sparkle appeared in her eyes as she continued talking. “With just your words and your wand, you can do so many things. You have to work together with your teammates and think really fast. I am very good at thinking fast and I know others in my team really well, so it is amazing!”
Samantha made herself comfortable in the fort as she talked passionately about the sport. Using one of the small pillows to sit on, she wrapped herself in one of the blankets they hadn’t used for the fort. It wasn’t cold in the library, but the blanket made her feel safe and comfortable. “Do you want a blanket or pillow as well?” she asked Rai, while holding up one of the cushions. “I got everything you need, you can count on me,” Samantha smiled. As she spoke those words, a song popped up in her mind, which she started humming soon after. The girl was unsure if the other knew the song. It was a muggle song, Count on Me by Bruno Mars, so if Raizel was pureblood she may have never heard of it.
Suddenly she stopped humming the song and looked at the younger student with wide eyes. “Do you know that song? Count on Me by Bruno Mars? It is a muggle song! It goes like this,” she would clear her throat. “You can count on me like one, two, three I will be there!” As she sang passionately, but not too loud to disturb others in the library, she started to bop her head and move her shoulders. Her little dance continued as she sang the next two lines of the song with a big smile. Her singing wasn’t very good but she clearly enjoyed it.

❂《 ⌜ Sometime Before Spring Break ▎ --:-- ⌟▛▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔The fort does look amazing even though this is just one of the few instances that she ever built one. Perhaps it was because of Sam’s expertise that they had managed to build this. The younger student smiled at the fact that she helped in building this and that finally, they can rest within the comforts of their creation.
With the way that Sam spoke about her own duelling experience was something. Feeling powerful, doing a lot of things with just words and wand. Indeed, when she first used a spell and worked in a duel, she felt… powerful. Despite the failures that came after, it still felt amazing being able to do those things. Thinking fast in a duel, that she needs to work on as far as she knows. She takes her time trying to come up with spells that she could use and it was too obvious that she was about to throw a spell. Well, at least now she knows what she lacks. “Yeah, Duelling is brilliant.” She agreed with that and she was glad she had taken a step into the sports although it’ll still take a while before she gets into that list.
When asked about a pillow or a blanket, the Gryffindor paused for a bit before speaking. “Both are good.” and not like she has anything with her since she wasn’t expecting to be part of a fort building. Unexpected but still fun. Curious eyes then looked towards the older girl, the tune being hummed quite… unfamiliar. It made more sense when Sam told her it was a muggle song. Despite having a muggleborn mother, muggle things are new to her. Sure, she knows a bit but it’s just that. Only a bit and that’s pretty small. “Nope, I haven’t heard about it. Kind of unfamiliar with muggle things." She admitted. "You sing quite well though.” and the lyrics sounded nice too.

After the younger student mentioned wanting both a blanket and a pillow, Samantha picked one of each and stuffed them in Rai's hand. "There you go!" she said with a big smile. The other could make herself comfortable with the pillow and blanket, the fourth year had just handed over.
A small frown appeared on Samantha's face as Raizel admitted to not knowing the song. "Not a muggle-born then?" she asked while wrapping her arms around one of the pillows, hugging the soft thing. "Are both of your parents wizards? Both of mine are muggles," she said with a sad smile. Thinking of her parents upset her. She wish she was with them right now, spending the break together. "Why are you staying for the break?" she asked, remembering the conversations they had earlier. Rai had mentioned that she was staying during the break too and offered to spend time together. That was way better than spending time alone, but of course, Bubba would be there too to keep her company.
After chatting for a while, Samantha would change the topic. "I was planning on reading a book, is that okay?" She hadn't expected anyone to join her today so she had taken her own book to read. Of course, she didn't want to be rude and make Rai feel unwanted, but she really wanted to read her book. Maybe the other student could also read a book, or just chill. It was also possible that she wanted to do something else, which was totally fine as well.

❂《 ⌜ Sometime Before Spring Break ▎ --:-- ⌟▛▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔The pillow was soft, making her want to just lay down inside the fort and all covered with the cozy blanket. And so, she made herself feel comfortable, settling down once the fort was good as done before letting her mind wander to Sam's question. She shook her head. “Nope, not a Muggleborn and yes, both of them are. My mother is a Muggleborn though but still, my knowledge of muggle related things is limited.”
Raizel was mostly raised within the magic community, more connected to it than her muggle heritage due to her immediate love of anything magical thanks to her father showing her the spells that he knows. That doesn't mean, however, that she wasn't that curious about muggle related things and her father, despite being a pureblood, wasn't that strict about it. In fact, he wanted for her to learn about it as that is a part of her and who knows what knowledge she'll get.
Why, indeed, did she decide to stay for spring break? Not like things are hectic back home. She doesn't have any problems with her parents nor her siblings. “I just want to know what it's like to stay in Hogwarts during holidays.” She answered. That wasn't a lie, it was really for the sake of her curiosity. She was curious about what happens here during the times when those bustling corridors are reduced into empty ones, what students do to pass the time while waiting for school to start again. “And maybe do some studying myself while it's still peaceful.” Maybe not exactly studying unless you consider her trying to get her hands on some advance spellcasting books in the library to see what she could try.
She had already learned a couple of them and with her love for spells and spellcasting, she would love to expand that list. “Oh, of course, feel free to enjoy your book. I would probably go and browse some myself.” Again, her quest for advance spells continues. “Preferably books that I could use to learn more spells.”

When Raizel mentioned that her mother was muggle-born, Samantha immediately took a liking to the mother. Being a muggle-born herself, she felt connected to the other. Only, if she would get kids, she would make sure they know a lot about the muggle world. Bubba, whom she imagined marrying when they were older, also had a muggle parent, so she was sure he would support her efforts to educate their children with muggle influence. A little blush appeared on her cheeks as she imagined how cute their kids would be. She was sure they would always stay together, just like many other naive teens. Shaking the thoughts, she turned her attention back to Raizel. "Aren't you curious about the muggle world?" she asked a bit confused. Not knowing anything about the muggle world was weird for Samantha, especially if your mother grew up as a muggle.
She could understand wanting to study but Samantha found Raizel's first point extremely odd. "I imagine Hogwarts being quiet during the break. Empty and alone," she said with a raised eyebrow. "Won't you miss your parents? Won't your parents miss you?" she added. She knew that she would miss her parents, she missed them so much already. However, she didn't know if her parents would miss her. She hoped they did, but she didn't know. They had told her to stay at Hogwarts, so it didn't seem like they would miss her. Those ideas were extremely upsetting to the young girl and she had a hard time stopping her tears.
A grin appeared on the brunette's face as Raizel stated her preference for books that would teach her more spells. They also seemed to share a love for learning new things. Samantha loved charms and knew some spells from the next year. "I can teach you some spells if you ever need help!" she offered happily.

❂《 ⌜ Sometime Before Spring Break ▎ --:-- ⌟▛▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔The Gryffindor thought about it for a while, finding a comfy spot as she wrapped her arms around the pillow. What does she feel about the muggle world? “I am curious about it.” She answered but there were only a few people who could teach her about it and with her muggle grandparents gone from this world already, she only has her mother now. While she did meet some Muggleborn students in Hogwarts, it was hard to ask them about it as she doesn't want to bother them. One thing that she doesn't want is them finding her annoying.
“I do ask my mom about it and my grandparents… when they were still alive that is.” She sadly followed it up, looking down as the images of her kind and beloved grandparents flashed in her mind. They were the only relatives that she knows of which was saddening in a way. Would be nice to have some cousins but then again, won't they find her weird? Especially when they too… are muggles? She hopes not. Well, not like she has any anyway. Her mom hasn't mentioned about her having cousins and her dad… her dad refuses to tell more about his own side of the family, the pureblood wizard side.
“Empty and alone.” Despite how melancholic that sounds like, it seems peaceful, especially for those wanting to just take a break from everything. Hogwarts is a perfect escape for that. The first year snapped out of her thoughts, showing Samantha a sad smile before answering her last question. “I am not gonna lie, I will miss them and I think they might as well but… I just want to get some experience of being away from home during holidays, know what it feels like and maybe, just want to get used to it.” Her first week here was devastating for the young girl. Despite the excitement of finally learning magic, it was hard being so far from her parents, from the comforts of her home. She wants to see if she has improved in that department and if she can be independent. If not… then there is no shame in going home on holidays and trying again once she feels like it once more.
Hey eyes brightened upon the mentions of spells though, especially when Sam offered her help with it. If there is something that could easily put Raizel in a good mood, it'd be spells. “What spells do you know?” Seeing higher year level spells would be nice right now and with Sam being a duellist, she can bet she knows tons already. She was eager to see a demonstration with how she is staring with anticipation.
