Kaitlyn skipped out of the castle and on to the grounds. She loved seeing the grounds covered in snow. The while fluffy powder on the ground was fun to play in, and the grounds themselves looked beautiful. ‘I’d love to take the time to sketch out here, but with the snow and the cold, it would be kind of rough, I’m afraid, but this is definitely an awesome sight. I hope all the winters I’m here at Hogwarts look this good,’ she thought.

As Kaitlyn followed the snow covered path, feeling the snow crunch down under her boots, she noticed a lone girl starting to build a snowman. As curious as ever, the polite Slytherin started to head over to the girl. ‘I hope I don’t scare her, by trying to approach her. I should probably announce my presence as early as possible, so she’d at least expect me to be here.’

“Hi!” Kaitlyn called out, as she approached. Her voice, while elevated, was still pretty quiet. She continued to approach the girl. “What’s g-going on over h-here … If you d-don’t mind m-me asking?” She asked, surprised to find someone else outside playing in the snow. ‘It would be nice to make another friend, I hope,’ she thought.

Hearing someone call out a 'Hi!', Dani's blue eyes flicked up from her medium-sized snowball for her snowman to see a girl. Dani watched as the girl continued to approach her, fully pausing the making of the snowball to pay more attention to her.

Hearing the girl ask a question about what she was doing, Dani responded, not paying attention to her stutter and assuming it was some type of anxiety. "I'm building a snowman!" she exclaimed, "Wanna help? I'm just making the middle section now. The bottom is over there." she turned and pointed to the giant ball of snow which was where the base of the snowman would be.

Turning back towards the girl, Dani took a brief second to observe her. The first thing she noticed about the girl was that with her quiet voice and seemingly timid manner, is that she was more shy and didn't often approach others. The second thing Dani noticed was her height, seemingly nearly four or five inches taller than her. But yet again, almost everyone was taller than Danielle. Her brown hair was styled into a single, long braid down her back and she wore jeans and a sweater like Dani had. She also sported a pink hat, pink earmuffs, and pink gloves. To top her outfit off, the girl wore a Slytherin cloak to keep her warmer. She'd definitely taken the colder weather more into account than Dani did.

Turning back towards the snowball she'd been making, Danielle waved the girl over. "I'm Danielle Alden, by the way." she said as she began to roll the snowball again, hoping the girl would come and help after Dani had waved her over and invited her to help.

Kaitlyn could make out the girl, as she approached her through the snow. Blonde hair in a lovely style. Dressed in a sweater and jeans, as well. She gave a shy, but pleasant smile, as she finished approaching the girl, and saw the balls of snow that she was making. A giant ball was already made for the base, and she was working on the middle portion of a snowman. And, the girl even asked if she wanted to help, all the better!

“S-sure, I’d like to h-help!” Kaitlyn agreed, the smile growing on her face. She cupped her hands together, packing a bunch of snow tightly together, and began rolling her ball of snow, as well. Slowly, but surely, her ball of snow grew bigger and bigger by each passing second.

Kaitlyn turned to Danielle, a light flush on her cheeks. “Sorry, I f-forgot my m-manners! H-hi, Danielle! I’m Kaitlyn Connor. It’s n-nice to m-meet you,” she replied, her voice friendly, despite her stutter. Her smile grew brighter by a wattage. “So, h-how would you l-like to build this p-part?” She asked, as she continued to roll her ball. She didn’t want to step on Danielle’s toes, or make it seem like she knew how to do it better. ‘Besides, Danielle was already doing this when I came over, I’m just here to help … but I also like planning things, when possible,’ she thought.

Danielle grinned as the girl stuttered out that she'd like to help before beginning to roll her snowball. A small second of silence passed by as each girl rolled the snowballs, getting ready to make them into a part of their snowman. Dani paused for a brief second wiping her cold hands on her jeans before she blew hot air onto them, warming them up for a second, glancing over when the girl introduced herself.

"Lovely to meet you, Kaitlyn!" She smiled at the brunette, noticing that she still stuttered. Danielle debated for a second whether or not to ask her about it, but soon decided that it wasn't her place. They'd just met, and there was no reason for Danielle to ask a question that could be offending when all Kaitlyn had done was be nice and polite to her.

She brought her hands back to the snowball continuing to roll the one she'd made as she answered Kaitlyn's question, "Well, I was thinking that this ball could be the middle part, and maybe the one you're rolling could be the top of the snowman." She stated, "But of course, since you're now a part of Project Snowman, your opinion of how to make the best snowman ever is greatly appreciated!" Danielle said, laughing softly.

Despite her stutter and overall nervousness, Kaitlyn’s smile brightened at Danielle’s greeting. “Thank you,” she responded politely. Her manners clearly showed from her years of upbringing in her muggle boarding school. ‘So far, Danielle seems nice to me. I appreciate that. I hope my stuttering doesn’t scare her off,’ she thought.

Kaitlyn giggled at Danielle’s description of how to build the snowman and had invited her input. The Slytherin waited two beats, once Danielle finished to give her response. “Th-thank you for t-trusting in me, a g-girl you just met, with P-project Snowman. I’ll do m-my best not t-to waste your time,” she gave Danielle a polite smile. She was keenly aware that Danielle was not wearing gloves, and kept stopping to warm her hands. She personally wasn’t one to judge, but it also meant that their time outside was limited.

“I am a-actually fine w-with your s-suggestion. But, if I m-may add to it? To help k-keep the snowballs in p-place, I think we n-need to pack a little s-snow around where the s-snowballs meet. That way t-they have extra s-support to stay, especially i-if it gets windy,” she replied, hoping her comment went over well. It was one of her anxieties, which brought on her stutters. ‘I hope she likes my input.’

Danielle smiled warmly at Kaitlyn as the girl giggled at her description of how she was building the snowman, listening as Kaitlyn responded politely. "Don't worry 'bout wasting my time!" she said, shrugging off Kaitlyn's worries, "If Project Snowman was a waste of time, I wouldn't be out here!" She laughed, smiling at Kaitlyn before listening to her advice on how to make the snowman more sturdy.

Dani thought over Kaitlyn's words. Realizing that she was right, Danielle nodded in agreement. "That's a really good idea!" she exclaimed. Adding packed snow where the snowballs met to form the snowman would keep it standing tall and would help it withstand the winds, just as Kaitlyn said.

Finishing up the medium-sized snowball, Danielle rolled the ball to the base of the larger snowball that was resting in the snow. "I go the medium one done!" she cheered as she turned to Kaitlyn. She then brushed her hands on top of the large snowball, packing it down slightly so the medium snowball could stay on top.

Wrapping her arms around the snowball, Dani lifted it and set it on top of the larger snowball, letting go immediately as soon as it was stable on top. "Cold cold cold!" She muttered to herself quickly brushing off the snow on her clothes and warming up her hands by blowing hot air on them.

Kaitlyn smiled brightly at Danielle. “I’ve a-always liked building snowmen … s-sadly most of the girls at the b-boarding school I went to were i-interested it in,” she shrugged. It wasn’t an excuse. For that matter, she certainly did not view this as a waste of time. Taking time out of your day for enjoyment and hopefully making a friend was, in her opinion, time well spent.

“Thank you!” Kaitlyn called out, as she continued to roll her snowball. As it was to be on top, she glanced at the work Danielle was doing, to make sure her snowball was indeed smaller than the middle section. ‘We wouldn’t want a dilapidated snowman, after all,’ she thought. “Great job! I’m a-almost done with the head,” she called back to her.

After a few moments, Kaitlyn finished rolling the smaller snowball. She packed the snow tight and lifted the ball. She walked over to the almost-finished snowman and placed the ball perfectly on top. Following her own advice, she picked up extra snow, and packed some extra snow tightly between the top and the middle and then between the middle and the bottom. She glanced over at Danielle, who was trying to warm up her hands. “I h-hope you’re not getting too c-cold? I can offer you m-my gloves to help you warm u-up?” She asked.

Danielle listened to Kaitlyn as she spoke, frowning when the girl mentioned that most girls weren't interested in it. Deciding to voice her own opinions, she said, "Well I think that's just stupid. Who wouldn't want to build a snowman? It's fun!"

Dani then stepped back to admire the half-built snowman, smiling proudly when Kaitlyn said it looked good so far. One of the things Danielle loved to do, was to excel at whatever she did, and so far, that's exactly what she was doing. She turned towards Kaitlyn to see the section of the snowman she was building, her eyes analyzing the size of the snowball and imagining it on top of the body of their creation. A smile stretched across her lips as she watched (but still ready to help if needed) as Kaitlyn stacked the final piece of the snowman on the very top before turning to the girl who'd seen her trying to warm up her hands. "Oh it's perfectly fine. A little cold never hurt anyone! Thank you though." she said, smiling at Kaitlyn.

Turning back towards their creation, Danielle observed the few details their snowman was missing. "Now all it needs are the extra pieces, like the nose, eyes, and arms." She said, "Then our snowman will be perfect!"
