Music To My Ears
Shay had just finished her "History Of Magic" homework and her bones were stiff. She'd been really close to falling asleep right then and there, but she pushed herself to stay awake. Her eyes drooped, and her limbs had turned into noodles. She walked aimlessly through the long corridors. The pillars glimmered, made of marble. Shay made her way up to the fourth floor, carrying a duffle bag which she had gotten from her luggage back at her houses dormitory. Light flashed from the walls with windows.
Shay had made it to a certain room, the rehearsal room. Shay decided to stretch out by dancing since she had some free time. She opened the door, the room was dead silent and empty, perfect. Shay got embarrassed if anyone saw her dance. She only was okay if it was her little sister, Fleur, since she didn't judge her. Her big brother, Lincoln, was an exception, sometimes. Back at home, at Shays house, they had a room with a wall that was all mirrors and a non-squeaky wood floor, it was perfect for her to dance in. It had a speaker and everything.
The rehearsal room at Hogwarts wasn't that bad, actually, it was a little better. It was at least five-feet wider, both ways, than hers at home, which is a big thing. Every space of the room is important to a dancer. It had a table next to an outlet. Shay got out her mini speaker, which could actually play music really loudly regarding its size, and plugged it into the wall. She then got out her phone, plugged that in too, and got ready. She'd worn a yellow t-shirt and some grey leggings. Her shirt wasn't tucked in so that she could move around more freely. She got out a hairband and tied her hair up into a loose ponytail. She removed all her accessories except for her ribbon, which was tied around her neck, just loose enough so she wouldn't choke. She put on her dance shoes, which were a special type of tennis-shoe sort of type. She usually danced a mix of hip-hop and jazz and a little bit of lyrical.
Once Shay was ready, she set her bag under the table where her phone laid on top of, then she pressed on a song on her phone. It was "One Foot - Single - by WALK THE MOON". She had already choreographed dance, she just needed to practice it more. Shay pressed play and headed to the middle of the room, facing the wall made of long vertical mirrors. The song began and Shay moved. She started off with a lyrical based part, as the song wasn't very catchy yet. When it made it to the main beat, Shay immediately changed into full hardcore hip-hop, bouncing on the tips of her feet. Criss-crossing her feet and flailing her arms around, carefully. She repeated a tiny pattern for a short moment, then pretended to fall back, balancing on her heels, then twisting and turning. At one moment she was spinning, the next she was leaping across the floor, then doing a floor dance, then a completely new thing.
Shay loved dancing. It made her feel as free as being freed from prison. Shay glided across the floor easily, listening to the melody of the song. Her hair flew around, but that didn't bother Shay. She began to get hot, moving around so much. The thing that made Shay a good dancer was her stamina, she could run for five miles and she wouldn't be fazed a bit. Shay continued to dance to the rest of the song. She could feel her cheeks burning and her smile widening. This is where Shay was the freest; when she didn't have rules to follow when all that mattered was herself, the music, and her dancing. Shay kept dancing for who knows how long, dancing to her heart's content.

Music To My Ears
Daniel walks down the corridor with a spring in his step, the lessons for today were all but finished and there was still time to get some drumming practice in. Everything seemed calm, only a few students wondered the corridors in search of activity. In his hands were set of drum sticks, he had brought them over to Hogwarts because it wouldn't be the same playing with any old pair, playing with a piece of home can always help ones mind.
The windows along the corridor had a bright orange sunlight shining through, as if the sun was turning in for the night. His destination was also drawing closer, rehearsal room was the only place he knew where to practice music. If there was a music room, it still hadn't been found in this maze like castle. Eventually, the room was in view, along with a feint unfamiliar tune. As he grew closer, words could be made out yet it still wouldn't help the curious Daniel who stood behind the doorway. The song was almost flowing through his body now, whoever this person was they seemed to like they're music unbelievably loud.
After a few seconds, he slowly walked into the doorway and looked over to the person in front of him. A girl probably around his age was dancing her heart out, moving fluently with the music without a care in the world. From the looks of things the routine was planned out before hand, at certain points she would change style completely. It was obvious this girl had done it for awhile, maybe even most of her life. Daniel lets out a small smile and walks in, leaning against the wall to the side of her. He didn't want to interrupt the rhythm she had going and be rude, this was her moment and it needed to be respected. His eyes continued to watch on as she jumped and pranced around the room, surprised by how good this first year was carrying herself. Dancing wasn't really a strong suit for Daniel, but it was clear how much she was putting him and others to shame.
Soon enough, the song was leading up to it's climax, he seemed to enter just before she was finishing off. After a few more flashy moves the song came to it's end along with the routine of the girl, her body breathing steadily from the hard work she put in. He remained silent for a few seconds before unexpectedly putting his drum sticks away and clapping for a few seconds, his face showing a wide smile "That was a great routine you had there, how long did that take you to learn?" asks the boy thoughtfully, who takes the drumsticks out of his pockets once more and places them in his right hand "And if you don't mind me asking, how long have you been doing this for?" he questions again, pushing himself off the wall and standing a few feet away from you.

Shay turned around to face the boy who now stood leaning against the wall behind her. She fixed up her hair and took a breather."Oh, hello there, sorry was my music bothering you?" Shay asked. The boy said something around the subject of dancing. "Hm, well, this choreography took two weeks. I've been dancing for nine years now. Switching from ballet, to lyrical, to jazz and tap, and finally to hip-hop. Ballet and lyrical come into use when I'm doing something elegant." Shay replied. She went over to her phone, which sat nicely on top of a wooden table next to an outlet, and paused her playlist.
Shay noticed the drum sticks in the boy's hand. "Oh, you play drums? I play the cello." She said, leaning against the table while she scrolled aimlessly through her music. Shay had lots of choreography that she could dance to at any time. Now, why does Shay know so many dances? Well, dance to her is just another activity for her free time. She enjoys it of course, as she loves listening to music while moving around. And she could practically remember any choreography she made in the past, as long as it was one she enjoyed at the time. Sometimes she would dance old ones and remake them, so they were better.
"So, what're you doing here? Do you want me to leave so you can practice your drums? I don't mind if you want me to." Shay asked, looking up from her phone and to the boy now. She didn't want to bother this boy if he was planning on practicing, after all, she could practice in the practice in the ballroom, it wasn't much further and was a bigger space to work with. She just would be a little chilly. She couldn't wait till summer, where she didn't have to wear jackets and long sleeved shirts. She could wear t-shirts and shorts and she'd be fine.
Shay was still scrolling through her phone's playlist. Whether she was going to dance in the rehearsal room or the ballroom, she'll want a song all ready and set up to go. She found a few but she ended up not choosing them. What song could she dance to? Shay thought to herself.

Daniel nods over to the girl when she turned around, waiting as she fixed up her hair. Eventually, she replies with "Oh, hello there, sorry was my music bothering you?" Directly to him "No no, it's fine. I'm used to loud music anyway" He says back with a brief smile, even know it wasn't the type of music that was normally heard around him. That was soon followed by a longer reply "Hm, well, this choreography took two weeks. I've been dancing for nine years now. Switching from ballet, to lyrical, to jazz and tap, and finally to hip-hop. Ballet and lyrical come into use when I'm doing something elegant." All of it sounded interesting and similar to Daniels love of drumming, he had learned various different types of music such as Rock and Jazz songs for the past 7 years "What you just said there is quite similar to my own hobby, tunes normally take 2 to 3 weeks to learn depending on the difficulty and I don't normally stick to one type, Jazz and Rock are my main ones along side other lesser used types." Daniel says back, before folding his arms and leaning back up against the wall
This girl seemed to have a lot of passion for her hobby, something which he appreciated in a person "Oh, you play drums? I play the cello." she replies a few seconds after. "A cello? isn't that the oversized version of a violin?" Thinks Daniel who nods backs while you're selecting the next piece of music. He was was almost tempted to suggest a rock song, but it was doubtful if she'd enjoy that type of music and even dance to it. When he was about to speak she looked back up and asked "So, what're you doing here? Do you want me to leave so you can practice your drums? I don't mind if you want me to." She asks, leaving him to think for a few seconds before answering "That shouldn't be necessary, you were here first so i'm not going to force you out. " Replies Daniel, who looks to the door and back at her "Do you know any other places where people practice instruments, like a music room or dance hall?"

Shay cocked her head. There weren't many places to practice hobbies like art or music. Shay stopped looking through her playlist. Instead, she closed her eyes and thought of any other places that perhaps the boy could practice in. As she went down memory lane, a certain one popped into her head. Shay turned to the boy, who was now leaning against the wall and answered with, "Well, there is the ballroom. Although I've only ever seen a boy playing the piano in it. Of course, I don't visit it often, so I'm not sure. Besides that, there's always the courtyard, but I'm pretty sure you probably don't want to practice there." Shay lowered her phone.
Shay laid her phone down onto the table and leaned back against the wall behind her. While she waited for the boy to reply, she kept trying to bring places into her head. She pulled her wand out from her bag and fiddled with it; swishing it around and thinking spells. Shay's mind eventually drifted into her own thoughts, like choreographing, classes, magic, and dancing. She thought about how the music just flowed through her like a power source, and how her body was like the wires connected to it, working on their own. Shay was in her own thoughts, but then snapped herself out of it. She shakes her head and gets up from leaning.
