Bad Day
Dawn had been having a bad day. So bad, in fact, that it couldn't get worse, she thought. She had woken up with a serious case of bedhead and couldn't find her hairbrush. That, she thought, was mostly due to her messy lazyness over the weekend. During Charms class, she had levitated her classmate's books instead of her own feather. She then lost her concentration and the books hit her on the head. Ow. She had a large bruise to prove this one. I should be proud of myself, I guess. But, it hurt. On the way to potions, she had tripped over a crack in the floor. and fell over on her books, and nearly broke her nose.
Now, in Potions, Dawn was worried that it might happen again. The petite brunette was quietly, shyly, carefully mixing the potion that they had been instructed to make. If it spilled it would likely be harmful to anyone and anything that it touched, as it was incomplete. Dawn's mid must have drifted off to Star Wars or Lord of The Rings again, because the next thing she knew, her cauldron had tipped over and the incomplete mix was burning a hole in her shoe. "Help me," the Hufflepuff girl cried timidly. Then, as she didn't want anyone to think her rude, she added "please?" Her bad day was officially made worse.

Bad Day
Kaylee was just trying to focus on her potion, but the smell of burning metal caught her attention. She looked behind her and saw that a Hufflepuff girl had spilled her potion.
“Help me. Please” she whimpered.
Kaylee rolled her eyes and turned around completely. The girl had hair in a disarray, and she looked completely stressed. Kaylee glanced at the professor, who was busy at the time. Kaylee took out her wand and quietly mumbled the spell to fix it. The contents of her potion came whizzing back to her cauldron, and that’s when Kaylee noticed her robe. When the girl had spilled her potion, a bit had gotten on the hem of her robes, burning a bit off. Kaylee sighed and muttered Reparo! Her robes were back to before, in fact they were extremely black and perfect, but she wouldn’t complain. The girl sighed with relief when she had done it, and now looked at the mess of her potion. Kaylee reached for a vial of hornworm saliva, and poured a bit into her potion. The girl’s concoction turned a deep green, the correct step, and Kaylee turned back around.
“Please be more careful. Ravenclaws aren’t always going to be there to help you,”, Kaylee only half-joked.

Bad Day
So far today, Dawn had lost her hairbrush, hit herself on the head, fell on her face, got laughed at, and most recently, spilled her potion everywhere.
The only one of those where anyone had actually helped her was the potion spill, the most recent one. A fair-skinned, blonde Ravenclaw girl had turned around and waved her wand to get the potion back in the pot. The girl had then noticed Dawn's robes. Muttering "Reparo", the girl had made Dawn's robes 100% perfect. Then looking into Dawn's cauldron, she helped, adding some hornworm saliva to Dawn's potion. This step put Dawn at the place where she should be.
Despite all her efforts to help Dawn clean up, the girl had them turned around and made a semi-rude remark "Please be more careful, Ravenclaws aren't always going to be around to help you," Dawn was confused by this remark, as the girl's actions before were so helpful and kind. "Don't worry," Dawn responded, "I don't expect you to be. I can take care of myself just fine." Oops. That was a little rude. Dawn hadn't meant to be rude to this girl, She had just spoken her mind. Dawn was trying to make friends, not enemies.
The next actions Dawn took were trying to cover up her rude actions. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be rude, I just forgot to think before I spoke," Dawn, stupid. Why are you talking to her, she is clearly trying to concentrate? "I'm not trying to make enemies. In fact, I'm trying to make friends. Would you like to be my friend? I'm Dawn Riley, Hufflepuff. Who are you?"

Bad Day
Camille hummed quietly to herself as she brewed her potion in the cauldron. She poured in the small vial of hornworm saliva into her mixture and watched in pleasure as the soupy liquid bubbled spectacularly for a moment before settling. Camille grinned proudly. It's perfect! She wasn't as fond of Potions as she was of Charms or Transfiguration, but she knew that she needed to brew lots of potions quickly if she wanted to be a mediwizard. The best mediwizard, she told herself confidentially.
As she was cleaning up around her cauldron (some of the bubbles had splashed just a bit after the hornworm saliva infusion), the girl next to her whimpered quietly. Her potion had spilled tremendously and was beginning to seat through her shoes. "Help me. Please?" Before Camille could react, however, a Ravenclaw in front of them fixed the mess with a simple Repairo.
The two, or rather the Hufflepuff, began talking. Camille wasn't trying to eavesdrop, but she couldn't help but overhear. "I'm not trying to make enemies. In fact, I'm trying to make friends. Would you like to be my friend? I'm Dawn Riley, Hufflepuff. Who are you?"
Camille hesitated, then spoke up. "Um... hello. I heard you say you were talking about making friends...?" She hoped the Slytherin crest on her robes didn't make the other girl afraid.

Kaylee internally cringed. She was never used to so much human conversation, but it was fine.
"I think it would be safe to say we are now "acquaintances". I feel slightly embarrassed to say I don't have many friends, but I too am looking for a couple. I'm Kaylee Reid, it's a pleasure.", she smiled briefly.
The Slytherin that had just sidled up looked friendly enough, so Kaylee turned back to her potion for a second. I shouldn't stereotype Slytherins, but there's always a catch.. She turned back around, holding another ingredient and sprinkling it in to the girls potion, turning it a steaming black. A step ahead, in fact, of what the teacher had instructed, but Kaylee thought the chances were slim of them coming here, for an unfortunate Gryffindor’s potion had sizzled and boiled over the cauldron and table. Her eyes flitted to the board, where the chalk was mid-scribble of the next directions. This was one of her weaker subjects, but only because she hated following written directions.
“Potions is one of my worse subjects, but I think I’ll scrape by. What about you two?”, Kaylee stirred her cauldron then turned around to the other girls.

Kaylee Reid, Camille thought, making a mental note of the name. The Ravenclaw was rather pretty, but Camille couldn't help thinking that her long hair should be tied back somehow to avoid accidentally dripping into her potion. Sierra had told her once about someone that it had happened to in her first year, but she didn't say the name. Several days within her coming home, however, she insisted on a shorter haircut. It didn't take Camille long to put the pieces of that scenario together.
“Potions is one of my worse subjects, but I think I’ll scrape by. What about you two?” Camille looked up as the Ravenclaw - Kaylee - addressed her and the Hufflepuff - Dawn - again. She really needed to get the names down.
"Well," she began softly, "I do relatively well in Potions. I have to if I want to be a mediwizard, specifically the school nurse for Hogwarts, when I graduate." Enough rambling, she told herself quickly. She asked how you're doing in the class, not for the rest of your life plans! Her eyes flickered to the board again, and she quickly mixed in the next ingredient before stirring the mixture slowly and counterclockwise.

Dawn, still surprised by the Ravenclaw's rude response, and her own even ruder response to that didn't even notice that the Slytherin girl next to her had spoken. Pinching her wrist to knock herself back to reality, she realized that the other two girls were talking. The Ravenclaw girl spoke first, "I think it would be safe to say we are now "acquaintances". I feel slightly embarrassed to say I don't have many friends, but I too am looking for a couple. I'm Kaylee Reid, it's a pleasure." Then the Slytherin girl spoke, "Um... hello. I heard you say you were talking about making friends...?" Kaylee either took no notice of this comment or realized that it was directed to Dawn, because she didn't respond. Kaylee spoke again, "Potions is one of my worse subjects, but I think I’ll scrape by. What about you two?" The Slytherin girl answered, "Well," she began, "I do relatively well in Potions. I have to if I want to be a mediwizard, specifically the school nurse for Hogwarts, when I graduate."
Dawn smiled, paused for amoment, then responded to the Slytherin's first comment, "Um... Yeah. I do want friends, I honestly don't care what house, as long as they're good, kind and friendly people." Realizing she hadn't responded to Kaylee'sfirst comment yet, she then said, "Hi Kaylee, Ravenclaw right?"
Time to answer Kaylee's question, "I do above average in most classes, but it's nothing to sing about."
Adressing the Slytherin girl, Dawn said, "Hi, I'm Dawn Riley, I would like to get to know you more, but first I need to know your name."

"Um... Yeah. I do want friends, I honestly don't care what house, as long as they're good, kind and friendly people," Dawn remarked. Me too, Camille thought as the Hufflepuff continued talking. She spoke to the Ravenclaw a bit, ("I do above average in most classes, but it's nothing to sing about.") and, eventually, Dawn turned back to speak to Camille again: "Hi, I'm Dawn Riley, I would like to get to know you more, but first I need to know your name."
Camille blinked for a second, remembering back through the conversation as best she could. Stupid, you never said your name! she scolded herself internally. "Of course. Sorry. My name is Camille Eve, but you may call me Camie if you prefer," she told the Hufflepuff, looking her over as she spoke. The girl had brown hair like Camie, and she wore glasses as well. She looks like a Hufflepuff, she noted mentally. "And sure it is. Doing well in your classes, I mean. You're allowed to be proud of yourself for that," she encouraged Dawn with a small smile. "Not to get too personal, but what blood type are you? You don't have to answer if you don't want to..." Camille added the last part hastily in case she thought the girl was going to judge her for asking. Of course she's going to. You're a Slytherin asking about blood type. She's probably thinking that you're going to ignore her if she's a muggle-born...

Dawn had said, "Hi, I'm Dawn Riley, I would like to get to know you more, but first I need to know your name.", and the Slytherin girl had responded with "Of course. Sorry. My name is Camille Eve, but you may call me Camie if you prefer," Pausing for a moment, Camie looked Dawn over and then kept on talking, While Camie was looking Dawn over, Dawn was looking Camie over. While she was doing this, she realised that the two of them looked very similar, fair skin, brown hair. After they both finished examing each other Camie spoke again. "And sure it is. Doing well in your classes, I mean. You're allowed to be proud of yourself for that," No it's not, not really, not for me, Dawn thought. Camie kept on talking, "Not to get too personal, but what blood type are you? You don't have to answer if you don't want to..."
This question made Dawn a little nervous, she had heard of Slytherins only being nice to pure-bloods, and completely hating on Muggle-borns, such as herself. Who am I to judge, she looks quite friendly, Dawn thought. "Well Camie, if you want to know, I'm Muggle-born,", was Dawn's timid response to Camie. "You're Slytherin, and I've heard of Slytherins making fun of, shying away from, or being violent towards Muggle-borns. I hope you're not like that. Are you?"

Camille noticed that Dawn hesitated before answering her question in a timid manner."Well Camie, if you want to know, I'm Muggle-born. You're Slytherin, and I've heard of Slytherins making fun of, shying away from, or being violent towards Muggle-borns. I hope you're not like that. Are you?"
The Slytherin girl felt something twist inside of her: she was upset. Yes, several Slytherins in the past had been not so kind to Muggle-borns, even going so far as to call them... mudbloods. To Camille, saying that word was just as bad as saying the name of the infamous Dark Lord himself. She looked genuinely at Dawn and smiled reassuringly. "I am not like that at all. I'm sorry for my House's poor reputation in some areas. I can't control our past, but I am hoping to change the stereotyping in the future. If you'd like, I think we could be good friends, Dawn." She hoped her words weren't offensive, as she wasn't trying to accuse Dawn of stereotyping in any way. "In fact," she added, hoping to lighten the conversation, "I thought that I was going to be a Hufflepuff. I'm a pureblood, and my parents were a Slytherin and Hufflepuff respectively. My mother, who was in Hufflepuff, really thought that I was going to be in Hufflepuff because of how much I love to help others. Which is partially why I'd like to become the School Nurse upon my graduation."
