Silence in the Library Open Closed

"Oh yeah we haven't! I'll go first! My name is Maxwell Smith, but I go by Max so you can call me that! I'm a first year in Gryffindor! Well you already knew that because of my robes."
I smiled at the girl. I stuck out my for the girl the shake, she took it, very warily. “I’m really excited to go to Hogwarts! I mean it’s the best wizarding school ever! Who wouldn’t like to go there!!” I tried to ease the tense feeling I was getting. Hopefully this wouldn’t end in a dual. If it did I get in soooo much trouble! I would be the person to start it! Then I would be expelled! On my first week! My parents would be so disappointed and I would be disowned and-
okay okay calm down Max. Everything is going to be okay. Your not going to get expelled
Kaylee gave me the Max-you’re-talking-to-much-please-stop look. I ignored her.
“Isn't the library so cool!! I mean you could just ask for a book and then it would just fly to you! The once your done it would just fly back! How cool is that!! Also all the moving portraits are really cool too! When ever I get lost I just ask one if they know where I’m supposed to go and they’ll tell me! It’s awesome!” Kaylee and the girl looked at me.

Lucian raised her eyebrow at the Ravenclaw, snickering to herself at the girls attempt to analyze her. As someone who had been people watching for years, it was humorous to her when others tried. "You're quite into stereotypes, I see. Spending too much time reading about Draco in the books you so desperately cleave to." She looked over her fingers, resting them neatly under her pointed chin. "A slight sneer and neat fingers do not make a Slytherin, despite what you may have heard. They also do not make for one thinking they are better than everyone else. Additionally, how would my scar make me a pureblood in your eyes? Muggles can have scars, as well as can half bloods. I could be any of the three for all you know." She shrugged, smiling complacently.
"However, Max is correct, I do believe introductions are quite due here. I am Lucian Grey, first year Gryffindor." She nodded to the two of them, closing her book and returning her full attention the the girls at hand. "As for the 'coolness' of the library, I agree. I myself have quite the extensive collection, however, nothing such as this." She glanced around, examining the high wooden shelves and colorful book covers. These two were intriguing to her, however, she wasn't quite in the mood to make any pets quite yet.

Kaylee grinned. Someone who wasn’t too intimidated to tell her she was wrong. Kaylee, however, knew as a fact from studying she was a pure blood because of the books about pure bloods. Lucian Grey was a pure blood, but Kaylee wasn’t going to say she was right because she felt she had gone far enough. Also her air of superiority gave it away a bit.
“Kaylee Reid. First year Ravenclaw. I apologize. I think I’ve dabbled to much in stereotypes, and I’ve never met you. Although you have stereotyped Maxwell first, I agree I may have a been a little too confident. And yes this library is certainly something. I’m pretty sure I’ve read out most of the libraries in my town, but this one will take me plenty of time. I’m anxious to get my hands on all of the books of the restricted section,”, Kaylee smiled at Lucian.
Kaylee snickered as Maxwell sighed with relief at the lift of tension Kaylee was giving off.
Lucian was quite the person. Quiet, intelligent, yet an edge of having to be right. Kaylee was like that too. She still had her doubts about her, visibly annoyed and amused by Maxwell and herself, but she was an interesting girl altogether. Kaylee shifted her eyes to the Restricted Section. Her hand twitched at all the dangerous and new books she hadn’t read. In fact, she was trying to find a blip in the system where she could get any book she needed from the Restricted Section. She was interested in the Dark Arts, not for bad purposes, more or less for educational and useful reasons.
“Seeing as you haven’t shooed is away yet or audibly hated on us, what is your opinion on the Restricted Section?” Kaylee looked expectantly at Lucian and Maxwell.

“My opinion?”
The restricted section. What was my opinion? I always thought it was some dangerous section that teachers where only allowed to go in.
“Well all the books in there must be in there for a reason. If teachers don’t want use to go in there I say we don’t. So my opinion is we don’t go in there.”
Both girls gave me a look. I knew why. That was one of the most Un-Gryffindor things to say.
“Look, not all Gryffindor’s are leap-before-look people!”
Kaylee gave me a look.
“I can be one of them sometimes! I’m not always reckless! Just sometimes!!”
The girls gave me a look like they didn’t believe me.
“All I’m saying is that it’s called the restricted section for a reason. Yes I would love to see what was inside, I’m not going to. We would get in so much trouble! And I am not going to get in trouble for sneaking into the restricted section!! I rather it be for beating some kid in a duel! That would be so much cooler!”
It was quite.
“Or maybe Maxwell shuts her mouth and lets other people talk because she is talking to much and if she dose anymore Kaylee with literally hex her. So I’m going shut my mouth and be quiet right now.”

Lucian snickered at both girls. They were both so different, yet equally humorous to her; although, she also was far too wise to let anyone past her just yet. They both could be of special use to her at some point, and while she knew she wouldn't be making friends with either one of them any time soon, she also knew that they could be quite the valuable acquaintances in due time.
She let her eyes wander over to the restricted section, knowing full well the types of books that resided there; her father had quite the collection of them in his study, and although she hadn't read too deeply into them, she knew the sorts of topics they contained.
"I find it fairly interesting that they have the section out in the library, under fairly minimal surveillance. To me, it's always seemed as if they want their students curiosity to peak and take a look at them. After all, the professor's here are genius when it comes to hexes, charms, etc. They could quite easily have created a far more sufficient barrier if they really wanted their students to stay away." She set her pointed chin in her palm, letting her eyes rest on the books hidden away there, a complacent, dry look on her face, giving away nothing.

“Don’t. You. Even. Think. About. Going. In. There. We would get in so much trouble!”
Kaylee looked as if she was agreeing with Lucian,
“Are you INSANE?! Did anyone just think about how much trouble we would get in! And please don’t play with my love of exploring!! I don’t want to get in trouble and I’m using all my will power to stop you guys!!”
I could not believe these two! On the first week both of them where going to break into the restricted section of the library. I slumped in my seat. Kaylee and Lucian were going to get use in so much trouble if we went though with this.
But I really, really, REALLY, want to see what is inside the section! Arg! I hate moral problems!
On one hand, we would get in so much trouble if we where caught, on the other, imagine how much interesting things we could learn about! Like potions!
Oh how I would LOVE to know about hard potions to do. It’s would be awesome! Max no! You would get in trouble. Buuuuut it would be in the name of learning about potions! Arg! I hate this!!
I put my head I’m my hands and sighed. Maybe Kaylee and Lucian weren't going to break in and where just talking about it.
“Please tell me where not going in the restricted section.”

Lucian giggled at the girl's reaction, trying to recall what she had said. "Merlin's beard hun, I never said anything about actually going in there, just that I find it curious the protection surrounding it is so minimal. I wouldn't dare think of breaking in there, much less on my first week. I'm a curious girl, but I do not have a death wish." She chuckled, shaking her head and reopening Hogwarts, A History, and beginning to read about the restricted section.
It went deep into details of the history of the section, telling all about Tom riddle and his possible use of the section to discover information on immortality; however, he couldn't have discovered what he knew about Horcruxes from there, no wizard before him had ever dared attempt to split their soul. It then spoke of Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley's use of the restricted section on their many quests, which Lucian had found quite fascinating. She had always been quite interested in the time of the Potter's, especially considering this was the time when He Who Must Not Be Named had thrived most. She made a point to herself to continue with her research on this at a later time, but for now closed the cover, having read enough for what she needed.
"It seems as though all who have made history by referencing this section had specific intent. What is your's, Ravenclaw?" She referenced Kaylee, raising an eyebrow, not demandingly, but curiously.

Kaylee raised her eyebrows at the question. Why she wanted to know, she had no clue. Kaylee hesitated at answering the query and looked Lucian straight in the eye. There was no menace, demand, or judgment in her eyes, just plain innocent curiosity.
“I intend to know everything about everything. It seems a bit,”, Kaylee struggled to find the right word, “tacky, but I prefer being a good witch not because of strength or style, but rather the intelligence to know everything to solve plenty of problems. Whether that be good or bad, I’d rather be right,”.
Kaylee pushed back her blond hair and traced the book in her lap. Kaylee was disliking the girl less and less, and more interested by her. Her need for knowledge wasn’t as empowering as Kaylee’s, but it was still there, drawing her into intellectual conversations. Kaylee was wishing to have more, because, even though she liked her, Maxwell could be a bit conceited and talked to much about one thing or the other. Lucian was very picky, in a good way, about what she liked or didn’t like to talk about.
“I’d prefer to be called ‘Kaylee’, please. I thought we just had a discussion about stereotypes, meaning generalization Gryffindor”, Kaylee teased, letting the name slide off her tongue.

I was slightly confused,
Tacky! Kaylee just called the restricted section tacky!
"Wait, wait, wait. are we saying that restricted section, yes the section right over there with the sign, DON'T GO IN, is tacky! what-I-how?!"
I just don't get Kaylee sometimes, I mean, yeah she's great and all but, in the name of Deliverance Dane was she talking about! That section was probably very, very dangerous, let alone terrifying.
But I do really want to go in.
Arg! Moral questions are hard. Though I did ponder for A bit more, what harm could a quick peak be? I mean just like, in, out, no one would know we were even in there! No one!
Then again if we were caught....
but what if we didn't!
I mean with Kaylee's brains, Lucian's...brains, and my..
ummmm
something!
We could probably do it! I mean it would be risky , and we probably shouldn't do it on our first week, but what if we did it later! We could create a great plan! Heck yeah! That would be awesome!!
Then again...what is we got caught!
I hate my stupid overthinking brain. always showing two sides to things. Its like another person is living in my head, but its just my common sense. I took a breath,
"What if we, I don't know....tried to break in, I mean later but not now."

Lucian chuckled at the thought of forming solid plans with these two girls she had just been introduced to, and didn't have an issue in saying so. "Pardon my saying, Max, isn't it? But we have all just been introduced. For all you know, I'm sitting in this library just waiting for someone to ask me that very question, so that I can report them for misconduct to the Headmaster." She tapped the tips of her fingers together in mock thought, allowing just enough time to be worrisome.
"Now of course, I'm not here for that reason. However dear, you must be much more careful with how comfortable you get around those you've just met. It could get you in some unwanted trouble." She winked, standing up out of her chair and tracing the velvet rope blocking off the Restricted Section.
"However, it is quite intriguing. The type of powerful knowledge it possesses, the dangerous spells you could learn, the incredibly complex potions you could brew, impressing professors and peers alike." She glanced around the section, appreciating all its beauty and dark grace.
"Pity we can't access it. I myself happen not to be as much of a Gryffindor as the Sorting Hat seems to believe I am."
