Quinn sat down beofre class, ready to learn. Quinn hoped that she didn't have to sit next to some annoing ravenclaw who hated learning. Uh-like Dennis. Quinn thought. Clearning her thoughts of the annoying pest Quinn looked around the clasroom. Even after month of living at hogwarts Quinn still was never ceased to be amazed from the castle. maybe a gryffendor will sit next to me- I don't really know any. Quinn thought. It was a split class with both gryffendors and ravenclaws. And it was in fact true that Quinn, even though she knew lot's of people from different houses, had seemed to not meet any gryffindors. Quinn shrugged then looked down at her book.

My mum told me they were kind of snobbish anyway. Quinn thought. As time ticked on the class began to come in and settle down. A boy sat down next to her. He had bright red robes. Hey-a gryffindor! Quinn thought. The teacher walked in and began the lesson. Quinn manadged a side glance at the boy.
"Hey, my names Quinn." Quinn wispered to the boy, hoping he was nice. Maybe they aren't all snobby, maybe mum was wrong. They are a little hot headed from what I have heard though. Quinn relized. Quinn turned to the boy for his answer.

Theo shifted in bed, eyeing his planner and discovering a double Transfiguration class scheduled for the morning. He let out a helpless groan before ultimately deciding to rise and prepare for the day. He journeyed from Gryffindor tower to the classroom, a comb in hand, tidying his hair as he entered and casually dropping his bag near an available chair. Directly across from him sat a Ravenclaw student who briefly captured his attention. He regarded her with an entirely inscrutable expression, silently assessing her.

Theo took his seat and cracked open his textbook, preparing for the day's lesson. As the professor began speaking, the girl beside him initiated a hushed conversation. Annoyance briefly flickered across his face; he glanced at her and then refocused on the teacher, pointedly disregarding her attempts at conversation. Only as the exercise commenced and the room buzzed with student chatter did he cast a glance in her direction. "You're Irish," he stated, making a glaringly obvious observation based on her accent. However, he didn’t necessarily mean anything bad by it.

"I'm Theodore," he introduced himself, but that was the extent of it. He then redirected his attention to the exercise. "Flintifors!" he commanded, waving his wand somewhat clumsily. However, nothing happened, prompting him to glance back at the textbook to re-read the instructions. "Turning things into matchboxes, how pointless. Haven't these wizards ever heard of a lighter? Who still uses matchboxes these days?" he remarked aloud, inadvertently exposing his Muggle-born background.

Quinn raised her eyebrow at the boy. What exactly did he mean by that? Quinn wondered.
"Yes I am and why does that matter?" Quinn asked the boy. Theodore. Interesting Quinn thought.
"I don't know, I think it is important to know all the different types of magic." Quinn responded, annoyed at Theodore's comment.
"My mum uses matchboxes to light candles." Quinn said rolling her eyes. Obvioulsy he doesn't have a sense of manners. Quinn thought.
"Your english." Quinn stated, combating his 'irish' comment. She was a little touchy on the subject as a certain rival had, had some things to say about her accent.

Quinn looked at her book which was explaining how to transfigure the object.
"Your waving your wand a little wildly." Quinn said, not able to stop herself. She just wanted to help and sometimes her mouth didn't know when not to help.
"Thought you should know." She continued. Quinn looked at the instructions on the book again before raising her wand and trying to transfigure the object. I wonder if the teacher had trouble with transfiguration when they were younger. I mean, everyone has to start somewhere right? Quinn sighed then looked back at Theodore, waiting for an answer.

Theodore was slightly taken aback by Quinn’s initial question, he mulled it over in his head before replying. “I’ve just not met many Irish people where I’m from. There was a girl at my primary school that got expelled for bad behaviour, though she had a much softer accent than yours.” He started to ramble slightly, not giving Quinn eye contact and instead his eyes wandered around the room as if he was daydreaming. Suddenly he became self conscious of this and his attention snapped back to Quinn. “Northern or republic?” He asked, referring to Quinn’s Irish roots.

“Don’t get me wrong, transfiguration is one of the only kinds of magic that I’m interested in.” He paused for a moment and turned the page on his textbook, before continuing. “Particularly, the kind of magic that deals with self-transfiguration. Freeing the mind from the limitations of the human body.” He mewed, with a smile on his face as he fantasised idly about powerful magic beyond his reach. His words here seemed far too eloquent for a twelve year old and it was likely he was quoting something he had read. “-and of course, the power to turn other people into whatever your heart desires.” He said coldly. It may have been a funny joke, but the boy’s expression seemed dire as the smile faded from his face. Perhaps a threat to anyone who might cross him?

When it came to being criticised for his inept wand movement, he started to blame everything and everyone but himself for his failure. “This is what the professor was doing.” He started and then quickly moved on to the next excuse. “The textbook is complete drivel and hard to understand.” Before finally settling on a classic. “My wand is defective at the moment.” Even though it was blatantly not true.

Quinn listened to Theodore and realized that he wasn't making eye contact. Quinn was taken aback by the sudden question.
"I-I'm not-why?" Quinn stuttered after his question on her roots. Quinn raised her eyebrow even further as the boy continued to go on about his not very open mind to learning.
"Yeah. Sounds fascinating. I think that all the subjects are at least mildly interesting." Quinn said with a hint of sarcasm in her tone. Quinn internally freaked out as Theodore's voice turned cold. Was that a threat? Quinn wondered. As the boy started to make excuses that were steadily becoming wilder Quinn felt her eyebrows sky rocket. Is he seriously trying the old my wand doesn't work? Quinn thought incredulously.
"Uh. I don't think it's your wand's fault." Quinn stated. Maybe his wand arm's... Quinn thought smirking. Quinn looked back at the book which was in fact a bit... confusing. Quinn pointed her wand then twirled it, muttering under her breath.

Quinn looked at Theodore.
"You know, people mess up all the time. You don't have to be so defensive." Quinn said, sounding a little bossy but she didn't really care.
"Most people don't get it on their first try. It's called not being perfect." Quinn took a deep breath feeling as if she was sounding a little rude.
"Sorry... I-er-nevermind." She said after a moment before trailing off. The boy was fairly rude. Quinn wasn't much better though. In Fact the touchy subject of her Irish accent had made her a little...mad. Quinn shook her head to clear it.

Theodore’s face scrunched up in confusion for a moment as he listened to her answer. Perhaps he could have been clearer. “No-No.” He started, interrupting her and then continuing. “I meant, are you from the Irish Republic or Northern Ireland?” He repeated, this time a little more concisely. He gave her an intense stare, but his expression softened after a pause. “It’s not that important, I’m just curious.” He said, giving her a smile. It was likely he did have ulterior motives for wanting to know, but he kept it to himself.

The boy continued to practise, but was not getting any results from his wand movement or incantation. He eventually slumped back in his chair, resigned to just waiting until the lesson was over. As Quinn spoke to him, he sat in relative silence, his expression neutral. That was until she suggested he wasn’t perfect, at which point he looked right at her and frowned. “What magic do you know then?” He asked. Criticism or failure was not common to him, especially at his previous muggle school where he had excelled academically. It was clear the muggle-born was having a challenging time adapting to this new environment.

He was especially lacking in the ‘making friends’ department, due to his snobbish and arrogant behaviour.

Quinn felt herself grow more annoyed as Theodore continued talking. I am being to judgemental. She relized. Quinn did feel like there was something else behind the boy's smile.
"I'm from Dublin." She responded, her mind flashing to the cobblestone streets and the beautful city.
"It's quite nice there." she commented. Quinn looked back at the text book. Theodore spoke again.
"Magic? Well I know the magic we were taught in class. And I have been working on a few spells by myself." Quinn replied, rolling her eyes. I wonder why he is frowning like that, not used to not getting stuff on the first try. Quinn wondered.
"What? Not used to failing something?" She asked sarcasticly. Quinn went back to her text book as she waited for the boy to respond. She had thought that maybe a gryffendor might be nice despite there stupidity and "wonderful brave actions". Of course there praise probably went to there head and Quinn was beggining to see the his praise maybe was a little to much. The hot head in front of her- well really besides her was very annoying. That might have just been Quinn though but he seemed very arrogant and snobbish.

The boy absentmindedly scratched his face, pondering what he knew about Dublin. Recalling his mother's advice about speaking only if he had something nice to say, he opted for a simple nod when Quinn praised the city's beauty. His mind drifted to a song, 'Dirty Old Town,' by a muggle band called the Pogues, often associated with Dublin. Lost in his thoughts, he almost tuned out Quinn's words entirely. Suddenly, a realisation jolted him back to the conversation. Wait, did she just insult me?

He sighed but opted not to respond to Quinn’s remark about his unfamiliarity with failure, assuming it was rhetorical.

Theo reclined in his chair, nonchalantly setting his wand on the desk before him, his gaze fixed on Quinn. "Well then, don't keep me waiting," he prompted, a hint of eagerness underlying his words. "What's the most intricate spell up your sleeve? I'm positively itching to witness it." His grin, though small, held a touch of scepticism, as if he were challenging her to exceed his expectations. Was it mere boredom that drove him to seek entertainment, or a genuine curiosity to witness her prowess? Arms folded across his chest, he awaited her demonstration with a mix of anticipation and scepticism.

With the frown now vanishing from his face, he had effectively shifted his focus away from his own failures, directing all his attention to assessing Quinn's skill with a wand.

In the bustling background, the professor busied themselves assisting other students in mastering the day's practical exercises. A few minutes lingered before the next phase of the class would commence, providing a brief window for Quinn to showcase her magical finesse.

Quinn held back a smile as Theodore realized what she had said. He said his wand onto his desk. His eyes looked a little to eager to Quinn as he talked to her. He wants to see my most intricate spell? Bring it on! Quinn grinned.
"Alright... if you insist." Quinn took her wand out. I don't think sparks is enough- I know... Quinn pointed her wand at the desk before looking at Theodore again. He asked for it. She turned to him and made it look like she was thinking. Flicking her wand she muttered a spell.
"Tarantallegra" She muttered. The spell to her amazment- hit! The streak of light slammed into Theodore and his legs began to dance. Quinn giggled against her will.
"Hey, you asked for it!" She said between gasps of laughter. Theodore hopefully wouldn't retaliate with a spell of his own. Might be hard to grab his wand though. Quinn giggled again as Theodore's legs continued to dance against there own will. Man- I hope I don't get into any trouble for this. Quinn thought. Quinn looked around at the class most of them hadn't seemed to notice what had happened yet, a few curious onlookers looked at her with raised eyebrows but Quinn felt she was safe for now.

Theodore had not expected Quinn to be so brazen as to jinx him while in class. A look of surprise crossed his face as the girl pointed a wand at him and the boy's hands shot out in front of him as if in surrender. “Wait-” He blurted out, but it was too late. The spell had been cast and Theo found himself sprung out of his seat, his legs moving involuntarily as they jerked around in an uncoordinated dance.

It took all Theo’s willpower not to shout for a professor and get Quinn into trouble. The only thing stopping him was the shame of being a tattletale and the notion that he couldn’t look out for himself. His second instinct was to try and grab his wand, which was a struggle given that it was back on his desk out of reach.

Finally, his last resort was pleading with Quinn. “Okay- Okay! You’ve made your point!” He said, seething frustratedly. As soon as the jinx subsided, he took his wand close to him and sat down, peering over at her with a scowling frown. “You are lucky, I am in a forgiving mood. Quinn from Dublin.” With that he snapped his textbook shut and folded his arms on it, content to wait for the lesson to end.
