To who will Listen
OOC Note: This letter has no date and who Ernest is sending it to isn't stated as it is a venting post he didn't send, but dropped and was discovered.
Why didn't you tell me? Why couldn't you be here? Why?
I keep asking myself these questions because you aren't here to answer them and I'm lost. I have a new brother. Turns out that you aren't the only person who kept family from me. He's so much older, pureblood, smart. I hate him and I don't think he likes me and I don't know what to do.
If you were here, you could help me. Help me not hate Clark, maybe like Alec. Something.
But I have no one, I am lost and I have no one to talk to because you couldn't stick it out.
I am so lost.

Dear whoever this may be,
I know you don't know me but I couldn't bring myself not to respond. I hope it's not an intrusion to have read your note, but it was just lying here. I'm also not sure who you meant your letter for, who you are, or even if a response would be appreciated- I certainly hope it will be. I'm no stranger to feeling lost or lonely, it's actually something I've gotten used to.
I know family can be complicated. My siblings and I have never been close- quite the opposite, in fact. But recently my sister and I made amends, something I never thought possible. It doesn't take away the hurt of many years, but it does make the future brighter. I do hope that you can do the same.
I hate to think that someone is suffering whom I could help. It's hard to find someone to talk to, especially in a place like this. If you feel as though you need someone, please leave me another note. Maybe talking to someone you can't see will make it better. I can't tell anyone about you, and you won't have to worry about me or who I am. Look to the sky, my friend, and let the stars guide you home.
I'll be here.
-Your invisible friend

I don't really know if I like the fact my letter was found or not. On the one hand, it feels vulnerable and invasive for those thoughts to have been read. Though, on the other, it is a relief to know those thoughts aren't traveling further than the walls I am in.
I do wish I could make up with my family but to be frank, they are strangers to me. My last words were to my mother, and even she, I only had a year of life with. I do think I would benefit from talking to someone I know, but I really don't know anyone on more than a superficial level.
Maybe talking to you is the best I will get, that is, if you're willing to listen.

Dear whoever this may be,
I am sincerely sorry for invading your privacy, but I simply would not be myself if I did not try to help or at least offer a hand to you. I do my best to extend kindness wherever I can; there seems to be an inadequate amount left in the world. Finding a kindred soul or even a friendly face can be challenging at best. You are welcome to tell me more about your situation, or not. It's up to you.
As I have mentioned, nobody understands a complicated family more than me. I did grow up happy and healthy, with loving parents, which is something I consider myself lucky to have had. But the relationship between siblings can be a complicated one, and I hope you know that you are not alone in your struggles.
Family isn't always blood, and sometimes hurts from those that are close to you leave a deep scar. But I hope you can choose to rise above the challenge, to be better than your circumstances, and when you meet your fate, you can look it in the eyes without worry of those around you. After all, is everything was perfect, would we even be here?

To My invisible friendI hope this letter finds you well, it's been a couple of days since I got your letter. I've held onto it, debating if I want to tell too much but I think I will. I'm part goblin, by the way, I figure that's something that makes a difference in telling anyone about yourself, your species. I got it from my grandfather. He raised me and I haven't seen my mom since I was a baby.
I think that's why I am the way that I am.
I was adopted last summer by my brother's, apparently I have many, father. He seems nice but, he's not my family. I feel I will just stay until I find a better place to be. What do you think?

Dear whoever this may be,
I'm doing well myself, and I hope you are as well. It's fascinating that you're part goblin, I've never met anyone of mixed species before. I'm fully human, if you were wondering, not that it affects much, since we've never spoken face-to-face. I think being part-human part- something or other is a good thing; a sign of interspecies relationships being positive. But I'm not exactly qualified on the matter, so I'm not sure if that's a good assumption. However, I am nothing if not optimistic. Was your grandfather a good parent?
I know it must be difficult for you to be thrust into a different family. I dearly hope that you can grow into your home and be happy there, but if not, perhaps you'll find a good place to go. I've certainly wished I could be moved to a new life many times- but I wonder if you'll end up loving the place you are. No family can be perfect, so I do think you should at least give it time before ruling out your adoptive family altogether. But if things don't improve, I'm sure you can forge yourself a new path. I wish you all the best,
-Your invisible friend

To My invisible friendI hope you don't mind that the flowers I attached to my letter seem to be dead, I thought I could save them before the cold weather got to them but I think I failed. I hope that they arrive to you as nice as when they are pressed but owl travel probably isn't that forgiving.
I got your letter pretty early today, the view outside my window is just now becoming bright. How is your view?
I guess it's time to stop ignoring the real stuff; My brother was pulled out of school. I don't really know what that means for me. My adoptive family, I only see them during breaks, most of which I refuse to leave the castle for.
My other brother though, I want to have a relationship with him but I don't know how to start. I fear he will not want to admit I am his brother though.
Anyway, I hope this letter finds you well.

Dear whoever this may be,
The flowers are still lovely. I have always had an affiliation for nature and I am simply overjoyed that it is spring now, with the gorgeous blooms and warm breezes. I like the Winter and the snow was delightful, but I will always be a warm-weather girl at heart.
The view was beautiful, as always. I suppose that may give you a hint as to my house, but every morning holds a spectacular sunrise and I love looking out the windows at the grounds. It's extremely pretty here, almost as beautiful as my birth country. I'm afraid I will never find something better than the place that I call home.
Anyway, I can imagine that it is conflicting for you to no longer have your brother at school. Having an adoptive family seems immensely complicated; I'm sure you are coping as best you can. I usually go home for the holidays, to see my parents above all else, but I'm sure Hogwarts is very nice and quiet during the breaks.
As I mentioned earlier, I had a similar situation with my older sister, she had always been rather mean to me. However, recently I sent her a letter asking for reconciliation. To my surprise and delight, she responded positively. I cannot say what could happen to you, but coming from a very shy and anxious person, being brave and shooting that shot will usually pay off.

To My invisible friendThe ball is coming up. I have already spent more than I probably should from my allowances, but I do think it will be worth it. I really do like the suit I bought, it's green. That's my favorite color, ironically.
I wish we could meet at the ball, do you think it would be a good idea? We will have masks so our small bit of mystery will be kept, but. . . I don't want to be a bother. I attached a picture of my mask below if you do want to see me. It's up to you.
If you do wish to see me, maybe save me a dance?

Dear whoever this may be,
I would love to meet you at the ball, it would not be a bother at all. Ah, that rhymes. Perhaps I should write the rest of my letter in verse- although on second thought, I'm writing this in class. Maybe I'd do better to make it quick. Going back to the question at hand, it would be nice to see someone I know there, even though we technically do not even know each other's names. Coincidentally, I will also be wearing green. It's a long emerald gown with ivy around the middle. It shouldn't be to hard to spot me, I'm sure I'll be quietly observing in a corner somewhere. Just look for my hair- it's extremely bright, you can't miss it. I'll be looking for you as well.
I'll certainly lend you a dance, in fact, you could even have more than one. I don't exactly have a line of people waiting for me, if you know what I mean. I'll be looking forward to it, it'll take the edge off my nerves. (By the way, my favorite color is blue, but I thought green would be an appropriate color for spring. It seems as if I wasn't the only one.)
I'll see you at the ball,
-Your invisible friend
