Grumbles, Giggles, and Gargoyles
Trying to decide on a motto with @Jacob ThorleyViva blinked a little at the crossed out bits of Jacob's note. She quickly scanned it, then flipped the parchment over and scratched out a note on the back.
JT~
I haven't really thought about a motto either... I have a lot of core values that I think are very important, I guess I could pull a motto from one of those. Maybe: “No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.” Or: “A bird doesn't sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song.” Or perhaps: “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” Or: “There is nothing I would not do for those who are really my friends. I have no notion of loving people by halves, it is not my nature.” Those are all good mottos that I live by, but I don't know which particular one I like best, or which describes me best. Which one do you think is best for me? Or I could do a different sort of motto. I have already had my fair share of sorrow in my life. I could do: "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade." Simple but real. Or: "Always find a reason to laugh." I'm not sure though. Ok, my question is the same as before, as you cheated and did not answer.

Viva crumpled the parchment up and gave it a good flick, shooting it onto Jacob's desk once again. She was getting quite good at this.

Grumbles, Giggles, and Gargoyles
@Genevieve Delacourt
Once more, a note sailed across the classroom and onto his desk, which Jacob was quick to unfold. Due to the longer nature of the past couple of notes, the parchment was already becoming cramped, so Jacob reached down into his bag, withdrawing another sheet. As he quickly read through her note, he visibly became very confused by her words. Those mottos were far from the mottos that he was familiar with, those mostly being the mottos of pureblooded families, often detailing traits that the house find to be desirable, or likening the houses attitude to some kind of animal in an almost poetic manner. Not talking about lemonade.
GD-
Those mottos are quite different than the ones I know, I'll be honest.. I guess if I was you though, I'd probably go by the kindness one, it's short and simple, I think. Sounds good. Not sure about a lemonade motto though, seems a bit.. Silly, maybe? I think you should go by the act of kindness one though.
Also, I think you cheated too. That's two questions in this note, but I'll answer them regardless. I don't know many mottos, though, so it's hard. "Thorley" "Pure" I'm struggling with this more than I should. I'll do the same with a list of core values, maybe not an exact motto, just.. Bunch of words I think are important. "Strong. Proud. Integrity." I don't know? Those are all things I think are important, so something like that.
New question.. Less of a thinker, what hobbies do you have?
Your Pureblooded Friend.
Jacob folded the fresh parchment over quickly, before throwing it over towards her desk.

Grumbles, Giggles, and Gargoyles
Trying to decide on a motto with @Jacob ThorleyViva giggled a little at Jacob's comment on lemonade. Silly. Hmm. Of course he would think that... She quickly bent her head down to make it look like she was taking notes as she scribbled down her reply.
JT~
The kindness quote is a good one. Maybe I'll stick with that one. Also, thst does not count as cheating!! Hmph. And, those words are good. Just not words that pop into my head as the most important values. That's ok! Anyways... hobbies? Ooo, I have tonnes! You really don't want me to list them all, it would probably fill six pages. But here are a few: reading, writing, playing the violin, painting, going to the beach, animals, gardening, acting and theatre, sewing, music in general, swimming, etc. Yup. And that's barely scratching the surface. Ok, my question is the same as your. Sorry if I'm being boring!

Viva smiled and folded up the parchment, flicking it at Jacob once again. She leaned her head against her hand on the desk, yawning widely. She felt like the only things keeping her awake right now were these notes. They were practically letters now, with how crazy long they were getting.

As he waited for the next note, Jacob lazily cast his gaze up towards the blackboard, almost jumping his seat with panic, as he noticed how much the class had progressed, without him having half a clue what was now being discussed. As it arrived however, his brief moment of being studious ended, and he was straight on writing up his reply.
GD-
I think strength and intergrity are both pretty important traits to have, especially if you want to be an auror. Got to be honest, and have a strong set of morals, after all. Maybe pride isn't as important though, I don't know. It's one of the words of my families motto though, so it just jumped to my mind pretty quickly.
Don't quite have as many hobbies as you, haven't really tried half of those things. My parents tried to get me into playing Piano when I was very young though, but I never really enjoyed it. I guess my hobbies are mainly reading, and I quite like walking too, just walking around and exploring stuff. That's kind of cool to do. I used to like flying when I was a kid, but I only got to do it when we went to our house in the country side, as you can't exactly fly about London because muggles will see it. How about.. Favourite place you've ever been?
Your Pureblooded Friend.
Jacob folded the parchment over, flicking it quickly across the class and onto her desk.

Grumbles, Giggles, and Gargoyles
Writing to @Jacob ThorleyViva had practically given up on the class by this time. She had abandoned all hope of keeping up with notes, and decided to just get them from a friend later. She grabbed the note and read it, then reached for a new piece of parchment and scratched out her message.
JT~
I agree with you. Integrity is a very important trait. And... hmm. I'm a little disappointed in you about the piano... I've always loved music. Reading is good! I love to read... and I've never flown before. Wait a minute... you have two houses?! What?! Anyways... favourite place I've ever been? I'm not quite sure on that one. I would probably have to say the beach though. I know, very generic, there are lots of beaches, but I honestly like all beaches. I LOVE the ocean!! Anywhere by the shore is my favourite place. Now, I think Hogwarts might be my favourite place, though. Okay, my question is: What would your absolute perfect day look like?

Viva grinned as she folded up the parchment and flicked it across the room. She was starting to greatly enjoy this. It certainly was helping the class move along a lot faster.

@Genevieve Delacourt
Jacob was quick to unfold the note as it flew onto his desk, his free hand reaching to quickly dip his quill in his ink pot, his eyes quickly flicking across the note, taking in its contents.
GD-
You should definitely try flying if you haven't then, it's a lot of fun, and there's no chance of muggles seeing you around Hogwarts. I think you could probably get a school broom no problem, and try it out. We have two houses yeah, one in London and then a nicer house out in the country side for when my Dad actually gets a decent amount of time off of work. The beach is cool, I agree, we used to go stay by the beach sometimes when I was very young in the summer, but we haven't been able to now for a few years.
My perfect day.. I guess wake up early, and go for a walk around.. Well, depends if I'm at Hogwarts or at home. We'll go with Hogwarts. So, wake up early and walk around, try explore some hallways or whatever. Maybe then go read for a bit, have a nice breakfast.. Maybe read a bit again, I don't know. I quite like walking around, and exploring the grounds, so probably a lot of that to be honest. A bit boring, but the same question to you.
Your Pureblooded Friend.
Jacob folded the parchment over, before flicking it across onto her desk.

Writing out a whole day plan for @Jacob ThorleyViva read the note carefully before turning over the parchment to write her note on the back. She paused in the middle to sneeze, feeling embarrassed as once again people were looking at her. It was just so dusty in this classroom!
JT~
Well... I suppose I could give it a go... I have a secret to share. I'm - scared of heights. That's why I've never tried flying before. Now, I know you're probably thinking, 'Oh, what a wimp! Scared of heights?' and the answer is, sadly, yes. I am a wimp. There you have it. Ah! You stayed at the beach? Lucky! We never got to go, really, I've only been a few times in my life. Sounds like an interesting day. Here's mine:
11:00am ~ Wake up.
11:30am ~ Get out of bed.
11:40am ~ Eat a delicious late breakfast/early lunch of strawberries, crepes, and chocolate milk.
12:15pm ~ Go shopping with friends
1:30pm ~ Go to the beach! Swim! Sunbath! All the things!
6:00pm ~ Eat dinner, probably gyros or something. Then dessert!! Napoleons... yum.
7:00pm ~ Hang out with friends, maybe watch a movie, chat, do each other's hair, that sort of thing.
11:00pm ~ Go to bed
I know, I love to sleep in late. I'm kind of lazy that way. I just love to sleep! LOL. I am definitely not a morning person... I'm grumpy in the morning. Or I don't know what's going on. One of the two.

Viva sighed and flicked the note over, craning her head to see if it had landed on Jacob's desk. It had, of course.

@Genevieve Delacourt
In a now rehearsed action, Jacob reached to grab the note as it settled down onto his desk, quickly unfolding it whilst reaching to grab yet another sheet of parchment, and dipping his quill into his ink. He only briefly paused whilst he read 'LOL', staring down at his parchment in confusion.
GD-
Fear of heights is fine, I think, but there's spells and stuff that can slow your fall massively, so I doubt you'd hurt yourself if you ever fell, provided there was someone around who was able to perform the charm, of course.
That whole day plan is a lot more in-depth than mine, but I didn't really understand the question in hindsight. What does 'LOL' mean? I don't know this word. I'm definetly a morning person though, I hate lying in usually, so I try and get up and go grab breakfast as early as I can.
You forgot to ask a question though, so I guess my question is, are you done asking questions?
Your Pureblooded Friend.
As usual, Jacob quickly folded his note over and flicked it across onto her desk, no longer even making an effort to see if it had landed on her desk, more than confident in his accuracy after having thrown so many notes in a single class.

Writing out a whole day plan for @Jacob ThorleyViva received the note very quickly, and opened it to read it. She laughed a little, then dipped her quill in her ink pot and tried to think of a reply. Soon, she started writing her message.
JT~
Are you being insensitive to my fear? How dare you. And I did not remember that you probably wouldn't know what "lol" means, as you are a fancy aristocratic pure-blooded wizard. In the muggle world, it is an abbreviation for "laugh out loud" and simply means that I thought what you said was funny. You learn something new every day. And... of course you're a morning person. Humph. I just appreciate my sleep, okay? Oops. I didn't realise I had forgotten to ask a question... my answer to your question is: No. I am not done yet, Jacob Thorley! Don't think you're getting out of sharing all your deepest secrets... *insert evil chuckle* So. My question is: If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be and why?
Signed, Your Half-blood Friend
Viva smiled as she reread the note. Wow. She sure was sounding sassy... she wasn't usually this way. She tilted her head and thought about it as she flicked the note carefully onto Jacob's desk once more.

"Ooh." Jacob accidentally said aloud, as he read the meaning of LOL, before quickly glancing around sheepishly, not having intended to have spoken aloud. He dipped his quill into his ink pot, before beginning to write another reply. This reply, however, did take a fair bit longer than his previous notes, having been entirely stumped by her question.
GD-
I'm oh so sorry about my insensitivity, truly I will think more in future. And that sort of makes sense as an abbreviation, but I don't really get the point of writing out an abbreviation out in a letter, why risk the confusion?
I guess appreciating sleep is fair enough though, I quite enjoy it whilst I am asleep, but once I'm up, I'm up. No point lying around. That's an awfully hard question to answer in the middle of History of Magic class, though. Let me think... That is hard, damn. I guess maybe some dark creatures could be gotten rid of, like werewolves and stuff.. Otherwise, that's hard. Maybe no more squibs too. Those are the only two things I can think of. This is cheating, but it's a good question so I'm going to ask you the same thing.
Your Pureblooded Friend.
Jacob folded his parchment over quickly, before tossing it over across the classroom.
