Rose (Rosie) Johnson stood frozen to the spot as she propped the heavy door open with an elbow. The Library was huge and astonishing with tons of heavy books and millions of well-oiled beautiful brown shelves.

Rosie breathless, took another step, into the beautiful library. The door shut with a thump! as she took the tiny step. She breathed in deep, smelled all the bookish smells, all the oily scents, the dusty shelves, and all the white pages.

Rosie walked to a shelf, breathed in deep again as she drew her finger across the thick dusty spines, she stopped at the word Hogwarts. Even though she didn't have any classes, that wasn't gonna stop Rosie from studying or teaching herself.

She smiled as she took the heavy book called The Magical History Of Hogwarts. Rosie held the scarlet red thick book to her chest as she walked to a table.

"This is my new home," Rosie sighed as she opened the book to the very first page.

After she had read a few pages, she wanted to get comfortable so she left the book wide open and raced to the Ravenclaw girl dorms.

Rosie forced her skin-tight black jeans off (in her opinion) thickish ugly thighs, tore her small white top off and switched it for her favorite grey blouse. She put on some grey sweatpants and raced back to the library.

Rosie smiled, slipped in the beautiful oiled brown wooden chair, put the book in front of her nose, and started to read.

To her, it felt like Rosie had only read a few minutes when she actually read for three hours. Rosie looked at the thick book, she was half-way through the book.

If she would finish it now, she would finish in about twoish hours. She looked at the clock, it said 11:58. Could I finish it? Rosie thought, thinking about she had just read now.

Kaitlyn skipped into the library. Her bag filled with parchment, her quill, and inkwell. Mechanically, she crossed over to the Herbology section and picked up Magical Plants and Fauna. She was going to take extra notes on one of her favorite classes, Herbology. A quick glance around the library told her that there were a few students around reading or studying. She spotted a table with one girl sitting at it. ‘She seems deep in her reading … I won’t disrupt her. I’ll sit further away as not to inconvenience her.’

Kaitlyn wore a white tank top, a mint green skirt, and low-heeled black sandals. Her brunette hair was tied back in one long braid down her back. She quietly slipped into a seat further down the table, adjusting her skirt as she did so. She quietly opened the book the mandrake section. Then, she removed her quill, parchment, and inkwell. The pieces of parchment had little flowers drawn in the very bottom of the page to indicate Herbology notes. Quietly, Kaitlyn dipped her quill in the ink and started to write her notes. As usual, it was a slow and meticulous process, and her script handwriting displayed perfectly on the page.

Not even halfway through writing, Kaitlyn looked up and noticed the girl looking at a clock. She decided to try to act sociable and gave the girl a shy smile. “Hi,” she said to her, shyly. “Um … d-don’t mind me, I c-can be quiet so you can r-read,” she added.

When Rose (Rosie) Johnson looked down at the book she was reading and heard a female voice speaking, she jumped and squeaked quietly as if scared as a girl with green tulip earrings she never seen before somehow appeared before her very eyes.

'Oh, right, when I’m just being stupid and oblivious, while I was reading, she came in here to do homework. ' Rosie thought, her heart pounding in her chest as she was nervous and scared since this was her chance to earn a friend. Rosie breathed in and out quickly to "unscare" herself before speaking.

“Oh, hi, my name is Rose Johnson, but-uh-you can call me Rosie, and I didn’t even hear you, I’m so oblivious when I'm reading,” Rosie gave a friendly smile and chuckled offhandily and turned the page the huge book.

'I’m so stupid, I said so much, I don’t even know who the girl is, for crying out loud!'Rosie quickly and quietly muttered angrily to herself, pinched her finger as if to punish herself.

Rosie kept angrily thinking about how stupid she had been but somehow kept a straightforward friendly face.

Rosie held her friendly face for another minute before she looked back to her book, and kept reading.

Hearing the girl audibly squeak and jump, heat rose in Kaitlyn’s cheeks. ‘I never meant for that to happen … I was just trying to be friendly. This whole time I was sitting here, she was reading that book. It’s nice to meet a fellow book lover. And I truthfully did not want to disrupt her,’ she observed, letting her blue eyes stare at the table. She was unsure with what to say, so she nervously played with her braid. ‘I hope I haven’t scared her off already.’ She placed her quill safely on the table to talk to her more.

When the girl seemed less scared, Kaitlyn looked back at her, giving her another shy smile. She giggled quietly at Rosie’s introduction. “It’s nice to meet you, Rosie. My name is Kaitlyn. And it’s perfectly fine. I am sorry for disrupting you just now, but I did my best to remain quiet before. You seemed engaged with that book,” she pointed out with a giggle.

“And, um. I don’t mind sitting here in silence if you’d like to finish. I can wait for you to be done, and I promise that I don’t mind,” Kaitlyn continued with a smile. While she was sorted as a Slytherin, she loved books, loved to read, and loved to learn. She liked to encourage others to do so, too, if possible.

Rosie looked up again after the girl introduced herself. She hadn't meant to look now at The Magical History Of Hogwarts, it was just so tempting to read it!

' You are so stupid, Rosie, why would you start to read again? Stupid, stupid, stupidity, stupidity,' Rosie repeated in her mind.

Rosie looked at the clock, it was now 12:07. 'Dangit, I should go to my dorm,' Rosie thought while looking at the thick book.

But Rosie didn't move at all, she looked at the page number and memorized it. 'Number 456 remember 456, 456,' Rosie repeated in her brain. She closed the large book with a booming thump!.

"Its nice to meet you too, Kaitlyn, but I don't mind, I have been reading for more than three hours, my parents are always saying I should get out more and stop reading so much, but I don't listen. I don't listen because I love books, don't you?" Rosie asked with a mischievous grin.

'Ok, first thing, stupid, that was way too much, your basically handing over your life, stupid,' Rosie told herself angrily as she pinched herself under the table so Kaitlyn couldn't see how angry she was.

Rosie didn't know how she kept a friendly face while she was angry with herself, she had no idea.

Kaitlyn glanced down at the book she was taking notes from and calmly closed it. As much as she enjoyed Magical Flowers and Fungi, talking with Rosie was a lot more tempting. And, as it seemed, it did not look like Rosie would allow herself to continue reading in Kaitlyn’s presence. ‘I feel bad for making her stop reading, but I guess it is ultimately her choice,’ she thought. Her blue eyes studied the little she could see of the book, not able to recognize it, or whatever its contents so happened to be.

Hearing Rosie speak, Kaitlyn looked down at her lap shyly, feeling slightly awkward. ‘Rosie seems so nice. I feel like I’ve intruded. I wonder if she would’ve sat the entire time reading if I didn’t join her,’ she thought. “I once read all day,” she giggled. “And, um, I honestly don’t mind. I can wait to talk to you when you’re done. I wasn’t planning on going anywhere, anyway,” she shrugged. She could not help but to laugh at Rosie’s statement. “I love books too,” she giggled. She smiled kindly. “If that’s the case, maybe we can each take a book and read outside together sometime? Then, you’ll be outside and yet still reading. The best of both worlds in that sense,” she offered with a grin. A sparkle shone in her eyes.

Rosie's thoughts were brighten within the second. 'Maybe I'm not so stupid after all!' She voiced in her head. Would not reading earn her a friend? Or the other way around? Kelly had always said, 'If you're smart, and love to read, you earn friends!' Of course, that was Kelly's way of life not Rosie's.

"You've once read all day? How did you not suffer a headache?" Rosie asked with a questionable grin. "I've only been able to read 3-5 hours before I get a headache, though that's just me."

'How could she not though? Headaches are like weaknesses!? ' Rosie thought, questioning herself and everything she had been told.

Maybe Kaitlyn had a secret weapon or she has a headache anti spell. Rosie quietly laughed to herself. But halfway through the laugh she stopped, realizing that she was not alone as she usually is. She hoped Kaitlyn hadn't heard her laugh.

'That's stupid of me to think that. Of course, she's a different person than me! Stupid...' Rosie kept thinking to herself. Her thoughts had gone from rainclouds to sunshine and unicorns to angry storm clouds.

Rosie pinched herself harder than she every had that night. Her face twisted in pain and she quickly turned into a chuckle and said, "Sure, that sounds fun! I've never considered reading outside before!"

Rosie looked at the clock again, she had a terrible habit of not counting the minutes and had to check the time every so often. It was 12:14 and a yawn escaped her mouth, she raised her hand to cover her gaping jaw as she was trained to do. How could reading and talking be so tiring?

"And also, are you sure, Kaitlyn? I'm starting to form a headache, and reading can be tiring sometimes, right?" Rosie said as she rubbed her forehead.

Kaitlyn giggled at Rosie’s statement and shrugged. “I’d walk a-around with my nose i-in a book. And m-make trips to the k-kitchen to grab a snack or s-something to drink,” she responded. “Ah, h-headaches are no fun. I’m s-sorry that you get them when y-you read a lot,” she continued, surprised that Rosie got headaches from reading too long.

Very faintly, Kaitlyn could hear a laugh in the silence that enveloped them. 'I’m not sure of what I said that was funny. I mean, Rosie was laughing a little earlier. Could I be imagining it? Oh, or maybe she’s laughing at me? Maybe she things I’m weird for walking around to get good and drink. I know that I can be weird, but I didn’t think I was that weird.’

Kaitlyn giggled softly, as Rosie “Ok, c-cool. I cannot w-wait to read with y-you … outside,” she giggled. She then gave Rosie an honest smile. “And, I t-hhink I have a timer in m-my trunk. I’ll bring i-it with us, so w-we can stop before you develop a headache?” She offered. ‘I think this is the fastest I’ve ever made plans with someone, not that I mind, of course.’

Hearing Rosie’s yawn, Kaitlyn giggled. “Oh, I f-feel that too, a l-lot,” she agreed. She nervously played with her braid again. “I … um, sorry. I j-just feel bad for d-disrupting you. But you can stop. I’d hate for your headache to get w-worse,” she responded, concern in her voice.

Rosie smiled, maybe this was the friend she was looking for? "Ah, that's how you do it, if I needed to get to one place to another I would too I walk to the new place, reading without looking at the ground! But it wouldn't last for long," Rosie chuckled as a strand of her hair fell. She quickly tucked it back in her messy bun.

'You are stupid, why talk about reading while almost falling? Stupid,' Rosie told herself angrily. Rosie pinched herself again angrily.

"And headaches are just a long part of my muggle dad's family, I keep asking my mom if she'll whip me up a anti headache potion or whatever and she says no," Rosie said as she shrugged. "Once I got Cade to make one when he was in his first year, and it just gave me one instead of Disparating it or something!"

'Stupid, why share your whole life? Derek would of already gone to bed already, well he don't got many friends. And I don't have any.. Rosie thought angrily to herself.

Rosie fiddled with a stray piece of wood under the table that was still halfway on. She was angry with herself for almost burning her chance of getting a friend.

"That sounds fun! Reading outside and but time it. I've never considered that before either!" Rosie said as she chuckled.

Rosie stopped for a moment, she thought about the dirt outside and the spiders as she shivered... 'Oh, stupid, you've read so many books about the outside, you've been outside! No need to be afraid,' Rosie thought to herself.

"And Kaitlyn, I would of went to my dorm-room anyway, its fine. There's no need to feel bad, I need to get away from books, it's basically why Derek, my brother, and the rest of my sisters and brothers are my only fr...-erm-closer people I got," Rosie chuckled as her brain fought with angry thoughts and good thoughts barreling into each other. Rosie didn't know how she kept such a friendly and straight face.

Kaitlyn smiled warmly at Rosie and shrugged. “I b-bump into things way too o-often,” she giggled. “Um, b-but it helps that I like to d-dance, so I already have a b-basic idea of how to avoid p-people … just not inanimate o-objects or the suits of armor in the halls,” she admitted with a laugh.

Hearing Rosie’s explanation of the headaches, Kaitlyn tilted her head to the side. “Oh, I’m s-sorry that happens to y-you. Maybe you could a-ask in the hospital wing if one c-could be made for you? Or, i-if we ever learn the potion, m-maybe we could brew one?” She asked. While she liked potions class already, she wasn’t exactly knowledgeable in the subject.

Kaitlyn giggled and nodded. “It is! I h-hope it helps so y-you don’t get as frequent headaches,” she offered with a smile. ‘It also has the added benefit of helping her realize that it probably is not good to be in the same position for too long. I know it’s easy to get stiff.’

Hearing Rosie’s comment about going back to her dorm, Kaitlyn nodded. “I c-completely get it. And I think it’s e-exciting to be connected to b-books. Oh, how big is y-your family? I h-have a twin sister a-and a younger brother,” she responded with a smile. ‘I don’t think it will help to call her out on her slip-up. It almost sounded like she admitted to her siblings being her only friends … I don’t want her to feel bad, so I won’t say anything.’
