explanation: I wrote a journal entry of Sage talking about her essence
Dear journal,
Cassie wants me to work on writing, so she told me to write a letter to myself and explain my ‘essence’. Here goes:
I wouldn’t say I’m very outgoing, I guess. I prefer people to come to me. Even then, I can get mad at them easily. If my leg is brought up, I assume the worst and that the person is judging me. I’m trying to work on that. Cassie says I’m probably still sensitive about it because the accident was less than a decade ago. I really try to be more open and less defensive, but it’s hard.
I rely closely on Cassie and Kora since they’re pretty much my only family left. Cassie gives Kora and me lessons daily, except for the weekends. After our lessons, Kora and I go to the park or play in the backyard which is lots of fun.
Cassie made me take a personality quiz she made, and she said I’m introverted, an observer, and feeling more than thinking. I don’t really know what that means, but I guess it’s important.
One of my huge goals is to prove people wrong. It’s been in my roots since… well, forever. I want to be a runner, but if that isn’t possible maybe something related to plants since I love gardening with Cassie. People have told me before that I can't be a runner as an amputee, but I think that’s ridiculous. Haven’t they heard of the Paralympics before?
Cassie’s telling me to wrap it up so she can grade it before lunch, so I’ll end here. I guess what I’m trying to say is that I love my family, I love my life, and I love what I have. I’ve been very lucky, and I hope my actions reflect that.
Love,
Sage
P.S. note to self: look up ‘essence.’
