Dear mother,
Now that a few months have passed since my arrival here I figured this would be a good time to write you, as I promised. While I'm writing this letter, it's quite late and almost time to head back to my dorm, so I will have to keep this short. I would like to start off by mentioning that I miss you a lot, and please tell dad and Greta, especially Greta, that I miss them very much and I can't wait until summer when I'm able to see you all again.
Something that has been on my mind a lot and that I wasn't exactly sure how to tell you about it is the sorting ceremony. As I know you've all expected me to get sorted into Slytherin, and I did too, but surprisingly that isn't the case. Apparently the sorting hat thought Gryffindor fit me better. I know this might be disappointing to hear. To be honest, I was disappointed too, at first. But in this period of time I've come to realize that maybe I really do fit here, and that's what matters most, right?
And mother, thank you so much for packing me my fairytale book, I completely forgot about it! And you know how much that means to me, so I genuinely appreciate it.
I failed to keep this letter short but I really have to hurry now. I already can't wait to hear back from you.
Much love,
Lyrra
