DEFENCE AGAINST THE DARK ARTS

It was brought to my attention that my prodigal students are having trouble with incantations and wand movements for certain spells. This is because Professor Pendrast and I had to make up quite a few as there are no official movement/incantation for some spells.

This is a resource for said spells. Any spell not listed here has a canon wand movement and incantation that can be found on the Harry Potter wiki.

FIRST YEAR

LESSON 5:

KNIFE TO PAPER AIRPLANE
Incantation: Cultrofors.
Etymology: Latin, 'knife' and 'shape'.
Wand Movement: A flick of one's wand towards the target.

SECOND YEAR

LESSON 4:

BLUEBELL FLAMES
Incantation: Caeruleus Inflamarae
Etymology: Latin, 'blue flames'.
Wand Movement: Tap wand in the air.

LESSON 5:

FUR GROWING SPELL
Incantation: Furrure Cresco.
Etymology: Latin, 'I grow fur'.
Wand Movement: A wave of one's wand around themselves or towards their target.

THIRD YEAR

No made up incantations and wand movements this year.

FOURTH YEAR

LESSON 1:

BUBBLEHEAD CHARM
Incantation: Aspira
Etymology: Latin, 'to breathe in'.
Wand Movement: Point wand at mouth.

LESSON 5:

EAR-SHRIVELING CURSE
Incantation: Repulsiva Auris (re-pul-si-va OU-ris)
Etymology: Latin, 'repulsive ear'.
Wand Movement: a cursive 'e' shape

FIFTH YEAR

LESSON 3:

CONJUNCTIVITIS CURSE
Incantation: Oculitumescere
Etymology: Latin, 'to hide'.
Wand Movement: Point wand at victim's eyes.

LESSON 3:

BAT-BOGEY HEX
Incantation: Vespertilifors
Etymology: Latin, 'bat muscus'.
Wand Movement: A wave of one's wand towards their target.

LESSON 5:

HEAD-GROWING CURSE
Incantation: Cranium Inflatio (cra-nee-um in-flay-tee-o)
Etymology: Latin, 'Cranium' (skull) and 'Inflatio' (inflation)
Wand Movement: Two looping 'Cs'

SIXTH YEAR

LESSON 3:

SCORCHING SPELL
Incantation: Hostis Ure (Hos-tis Ooh-rey)
Etymology: Hostis, Latin, enemy or hostile. Ure, Latin, to burn.
Wand Movement: Twirled waving motion

LESSON 5:

CORNFLAKE SKIN JINX
Incantation: Pelle Cerealis (PEL-leh seh-REH-al-is)
Etymology: Latin, 'Cereal Skin'.
Wand Movement: A curved line downwards, complete with three small bumps

LESSON 3:

CATERWAULING CHARM
Incantation: Evigilans Formidine
Etymology: Latin, ‘Waking alarm’.
Wand Movement: Wave wand upwards quickly.

LESSON 4:

DISILLUSIONMENT CHARM
Incantation: Celare Palam
Etymology: Latin, ‘to hide openly’.

Etymology: Latin, 'To cut a finger'.
