Absolute Filth Finished

Alice prides herself on the differences between herself and her pureblood family. She doesn't look down on the muggleborns and halfbloods of the world (partially because she herself is secretly a halfblood) and she doesn't behave with the arrogance of most of her older siblings. Her clothes, especially since moving in with her biological father, are still quite nice, but they aren't the type of clothes a child of a wealthy magical family would wear.

But even with her differences in personality and behaviour, Alice still grew up in the clean, sheltered home of an aristocratic French family of wizards. She spent her childhood with her nose in the books and her arm clutched around a doll. Very, very little of her life was spent in the proximity of actual dirt and grime.

Now, she faces a problem that she knows she should have seen coming. Herbology Class. She has attended a fair few lessons on the flora of the magical world, but, being the overprepared pupil she is, she's decided that a bit of extra firsthand research in the first year greenhouse is for the best.

She goes for a little walk after dinner and steps into the building, her eyes widening as she takes in the plants she's only seen in books before this moment. The plants themselves are quite beautiful, in their own way, but they're not the reason she's here. The problem for Alice de Villiers isn't the greenery, it's the dirt.

"There we are," she says softly as she spots her inanimate quarry.

She walks up to an empty pot, full of soil, and takes a deep breath. With a single, shaking finger, she pokes the soil in the pot and immediately recoils as goosebumps shoot up her arms. Sucking in a gasp through her teeth, Alice jumps back from the pot, grunting as the air is knocked from her lungs from her sudden collision with someone she didn't even notice.

"Excuse me," she manages politely in an attempt to save face.

Kaitlyn skipped out of the castle, after dinner. She was super excited to explore around the castle. And there was still time before curfew! Even better. Plus, with the Slytherin Common Room in the dungeons, she wouldn’t have far to walk when the curfew was finally in place. So, that gave her a decent amount of exploring time. Which, for the young and curious Slytherin girl, was always a good thing.

As she skipped toward the Herbology greenhouse, Kaitlyn’s mind roared with images she saw from her Herbology textbook. She loved Herbology class, which was why she wanted to take an extra look. ‘What are they going to do? Give me detention for just looking! I wasn’t planning on touching anything,’ she giggled.

As she entered the greenhouse, Kaitlyn’s eyes grew wide as she saw all the magical flowers and fauna growing. She made a quiet squeal of delight. Her eyes immediately went to a bush gently moving with the breeze. As she was about to move to another plant, she collided with someone, not realizing another person was in the greenhouse with her. She was pushed backward into a work table, which she used to stop her fall. She looked up and saw a girl of similar age to herself. “H-hi … S-sorry … I w-wasn’t p-paying a-attention t-to w-where I w-was g-going,” she admitted sheepishly. A light flush bloomed on her cheeks.

Sonya didn't think she would end up with a broken nose. Now she owed a friend 20 pounds.
Struggling with some research, Sonya had decided to sneak over to the Greenhouses before curfew.
Before getting into anything, Sonya was wearing jeans, a blank t-shirt, a Metallica hoodie, and a pair of Converse shoes.
Anyway, she wanted to theorize how Gillyweed could affect a transformed Werewolf who had taken Wolfsbane Potion. Hard to do when she knew nothing of Gillyweed, hence the trip to the Greenhouses.
Now, for context, when a person, such as Sonya, transforms on the full moon, they become rabid, mindless, and extremely predatory. They can AND WILL attack any human, animal, or not-alive moving... thing like a car they see.
However, the Wolfsbane Potion is a recent invention of the last century (Which doesn't sound quite recent) that if taken once a day the week leading up to the full moon, a Werewolf will retain their mind and can keep themselves from tearing people apart.
As for Gillyweed, all Sonya knows is that Harry Potter used it during the Triwizard Tournament to not drown during the Second Task. Beyond that, nothing.
Sonya approached the door to Greenhouse 1 and, while she noticed the door was shutting itself, having been let go of, she didn't think about it, assuming it was the Herbology professor. She instead began to push the door open and walk in.
Suddenly, someone on the other side hit the door and it roughly got her in the nose. She fell to the ground and could hear someone inside say, "H-hi … S-sorry … I w-wasn’t p-paying a-attention t-to w-where I w-was g-going,"
Once she hit the ground, she cried out and swore. In Spanish, thankfully. As she swore, the door to the Greenhouse opened...

This, Alice decides, is shaping up to be a disaster the likes of which poets will likely write about for centuries to come. Well, either that, or she'll just have to deal with a bit of embarrassment for a few days in the beginning of her magical education.

Thinking she was alone, Alice's first thought was that she'd bumped into a plant. Damaged it, perhaps. But, as she now realizes, she was entirely incorrect. There's a student, who seems just as distracted as Alice was with her confrontation with the soil, standing right behind her, and from jumping back away from the dirt, Alice has somehow managed to collide with the other student. Quite hard.

The breath escapes her lungs just as easily as balance escapes her usually steady legs. As her body collides with the student, she finds herself twisting uncomfortably as she slips and catches herself on the Greenhouse door.

"Excuse me," she says softly, gasping for breath. She hears another thud just on the other side of the door as the distracted girl in the greenhouse apologizes back.

Alice slowly opens the greenhouse door and peeks outside and, to her absolute terror, another girl is helplessly sprawled on the ground. She quickly shoves the door open and steps outside the greenhouse to the second girl and holds out a hand, offering to help her up.

"I'm so sorry," she says, scandalized. "This wasn't meant to happen. I was just checking out the greenhouse..."

Her eyes shift between the girl donning the finest of muggle casual attire and the other girl still inside the greenhouse as she looks upon them both with a helplessness unbefitting of her family's name.

Kaitlyn flushed lightly, having just bumped into the girl. ‘Oh God, Oh God, Oh God,’ her mind kept repeating, clearly flustered with herself. ‘I hope she isn’t mad at me … I’m usually more graceful than this and could have moved out of the way … I was kind of distracted by the plants. That doesn’t bode well for when I finally do have my first Herbology class? I hope I’m not clumsy then, too. Focus, Kaitlyn, Focus.’

“I-I’m s-sorry,” Kaitlyn apologized again, still stuttering, as the girl caught herself on the Greenhouse door. She heard the thud, too, that the girl appeared to also hear. When the girl opened the door, Kaitlyn gasped as she saw another girl, but this time on the ground. ‘What happened? What caused that thud, and why was this girl on the ground? I hope she’s alright.’

Kaitlyn rushed to the Greenhouse door. “S-sorry! I-I d-didn’t m-mean t-to b-be i-in th-the w-way!” She apologized profusely, her stammer even more evident. She breathed deeply in, held it for a few moments, and let it out slowly to help calm her heart. This was not how she expected her evening to go. “I … um …” she physically fidgeted awkwardly near the two girls. “S-sorry … um … m-may I h-help y-you u-up?” She asked the girl on the ground, offering her hand to the girl. ‘I hope she’s all right. It’s not fun to fall at all … and I feel bad for the role I played.’

Sonya took the Slytherin girl's hand and got up with help. She then pulled out one of those pocket sized packs of Kleenex and wiped blood away from under her nose, hoping it wasn't broken. "Bloody hell... And there's my accidental pun of the day."
Sonya then checked her nose preying it wasn't broken.
Good news! Not broken!
Bad news! Something is totally wrong with it, hence the blood.
Sonya tore up a tissue in two pieces and shoved them up her nose, grunting slightly. She's absolutely gonna need to visit the hospital wing when this is all said and done.
As she did that, she decided she should respond seeing as both girls had apologized.
Sonya waved away the concern. "It's alright. I should have noticed someone was on the other side of the door. On the bright side, I can lie and say I got into a fight, hence the nose." Sonya then looked confused. "Do people still do that? Eh, whatever."
Sonya cracked her neck (Helps with neck pain a bit) and then walked over to the door. "Name's Sonya. I assume you both had something you wanted to do inside?" Sonya then opened the door and help it open.

I copied and pasted the top of the last one from another post and forgot to edit it so it DIDN'T say Quill Brook. My mistake. I fixed it.
Also, if it seems a bit messy, I started typing before Kaitlyn replied and I was nearly done, so I tried to... mend it a bit, for lack of better words.

Alice slowly approaches the bloody-nosed girl, Sonya, and steps close enough to get a good view, her attention on the injury. She feels repulsed, yet intrigued. Dirt is certainly no friend of hers, but blood isn't quite so terrible, it seems. At the very least, she doesn't feel the goosebumps and the urge to turn and run, but she also isn't quite touching the blood. Perhaps her little phobia is only for actual dirt, and not filth of any kind.

"Disgusting," she says, without actual disgust in her voice. "I'm Alice. Alice de Villiers."

"I would ask if you're certain that you're alright," she says before returning her attention to the Slytherin girl. "But it seems she's taking it worse than you are."

Alice watches both of the girls with a strange curiosity. One, blood trickling from her nose, and the other a stammering mess. She knew she was going to meet some interesting people at Hogwarts, but the school is somehow already managing to exceed her expectations.

"Am I correct in assuming you're both from muggle families?" she asks with no small amount of amusement as she walks into the greenhouse again, offering a polite curtsy as Sonya holds the door for her.

It's a fair assumption. One of the girls is stuttering like she's about to explode from the nerves, and the other is not only dressed for the part, but she seems far more brash than any pureblood Alice has had the displeasure of meeting.

Kaitlyn kept quiet as the girl with the bloody nose, Sonya, talked and seemed to be in good spirits. She gave Sonya a sympathetic smile but stayed quiet for the moment. When the first girl, Alice, checked Sonya’s nose, Kaitlyn patiently waited her turn, until after Alice moved away. Kaitlyn also glanced at Sonya’s nose, observing how bloody it was, but didn’t recoil or say anything. She enjoyed practicing active listening and routinely liked to show that she listened without interrupting. She waited until both girls finished talking and waited for two extra beats before finally answering.

From the quiet she just exhibited and the confirmation that Sonya seemed to be all right, Kaitlyn’s stutter began to ebb a bit. “I’m glad y-you’re all right. M-may I suggest k-keeping that in o-only for a little b-bit? You s-should be a-able to clean o-out the blood by blowing y-your nose afterward. And, if I m-may, I’d like to a-accompany you to the h-hospital wing,” she suggested quietly, feeling partially at blame. “My n-name is Kaitlyn. It i-is a pleasure to m-meet you, Sonya a-and Alice,” she replied, looking at Sonya and Alice in their eyes in turn.

Kaitlyn followed Alice back into the greenhouse. “Thank you,” she said to Sonya, as she slipped back in. She chose to ignore Alice’s comment about her stutter, keeping a blank look on her face, recalling her etiquette training. ‘Very interesting choice of words.’

When Alice asked if both of them were muggle-borns, Kaitlyn nodded to the question. “I a-am from a muggle f-family,” she confirmed. “May I a-ask how magical your f-family is?” she asked in turn, not assuming anything from the way Alice was acting.

Sonya smirked when Kaitlyn said, "I’m glad y-you’re all right. M-may I suggest k-keeping that in o-only for a little b-bit? Sonya followed both girls in and closed the door. "Same. As for the offer, it's alright. I, and please don't share this with anyone, once got jumped on by a Werewolf friend of mine who forgot to take the Wolfsbane Potion on the night of a full moon. I can take a beating. Or, at least, a door." Sonya then snapped her fingers. "Oh. As for the tissues, thanks for the tip."
When, roughly a minute later, Alice asked, "Am I correct in assuming you're both from muggle families?", Sonya nodded to confirm the young witch's thoughts.
That wasn't entirely right, but... well, Sonya's mother and aunt were witches and most of her family on that side lives in Mexico. Meanwhile, the family she sees most often, her father's Muggle parents and such, all live in Scotland.
That's passable, right?
Kaitlyn answered, saying that she's from a Muggle family and asking Alice if she's from a magical family. Sonya would be lying if she said she wasn't curious.

"My family is one of the more notable bloodlines to grace the halls of the Beauxbatons Academy of Magic," Alice recites, almost mechanically. It's almost a lie, since her actual father is a muggle, but for her mother's sake, she doesn't mention her actual dad in front of other witches and wizards.

She doesn't miss the blank expression on Kaitlyn's face: years of etiquette training, even if she was quite bad at it, have instilled at least some talent for recognizing faux pas, including her own. It's clear she's said something wrong, though she isn't quite sure what that was.

Deep in thought about the matter, she begins to walk carefully around the greenhouse, eyeing the plants with curiosity. She doesn't touch any, since detention isn't exactly how she wishes to spend her first few days at Hogwarts. As her eyes reach a strange, person shaped plant, she turns, slowly, and watches Sonya with a grim curiosity.

"Do you hang about with many werewolves?" she asks, stupefied at such a thought. "That doesn't sound very... safe."

Alice has never met a werewolf, that she knows of, in real life, but she's read enough about them to know just how dangerous they can be, if only for one night per month. She can't imagine willingly associating with them, but she never has had very many friends to begin with, so perhaps beggars can't be choosers.
