Closed A sunny spring day....Or an adventure?

It's nice to have friends who listen. Scarlet thought. It makes me feel like what I'm saying is actually, like, interesting. It makes me feel more, well, part of the group? I guess, I mean, I don't exactly know...but it's nice to feel like you're being listened to anyways, I'm not entirely sure why, but it just feels...right. She concluded. And Kaitlyn is such a nice friend.

When Kaitlyn offered it was both of their faults, Scarlet couldn't help laughing. "All right, fine." She laughed. Then her friend said they could make food together if there was no more in the Great Hall, and Scarlet giggled with her. "That's such a great idea! My mother is a very good cook, and she taught me some of the loveliest recipes! I'm sure you're good at cooking too."

As Kaitlyn got up, Scarlet saw she was having trouble. She didn't feel s bad as before, though she still decided she had to help. So she helped her walk a little and asked: "Are you doing okay? Would you like me to help you down the stairs? And don't be afraid to say yes, it's not only your fault." She said, and smiled reassuringly, though also a bit anxious herself.

Kaitlyn giggled and smiled at Scarlet’s acceptance. ‘I like seeing my friends happy. I’m just glad we’re getting off in a better mood now. I’d like to learn more about Scarlet. So far, she seems pretty cool to me,’ she thought, with a slight sparkle in her eyes. “Oooh, that sounds very promising … I’m actually not that experienced with regular cooking … I do like to bake, though, and cooking isn’t that different. But, I’m willing to cook with you, if you’d like? Even if we don’t get the chance today, I’d like to do it in the future with you? If you want to, of course. I’m not trying to pressure you,” she smiled, awkwardly, but optimistically.

As she was trying to get up, Kaitlyn flushed lightly when Scarlet came over to help her. ‘I need to do a better job to not worry her,’ she thought. “I think I’ll be fine,” she responded with a quick shake of her head. She took a few steps, realizing that she’d likely have a fun time on the stairs. She gave Scarlet an apologetic smile. “On second thought, do you mind helping me? I don’t want you to feel burdened, but I think I’d like the help on the stairs, at least,” she smiled at Scarlet.

"Well, my mother does both, cooking and baking, it's one of her hobbies, and she even taught me how to make the best apple pie...." Scarlet said, a little dreamily. "And I'd really love to share that recipe with you, and also learn many new ones!" She added. "Ooh, yes I'd love to bake with you sometime!" She answered happily when Kaitlyn asked.

Then, Kaitlyn asked her help, and Scarlet smiled kindly. "Of course I don't mind helping!" Scarlet said, and put her arm around Kaitlyn's shoulder to help her down. "As we go, would you like to learn more about each other? Like the idea I had in mind before? I'll start. Do you have any fun nicknames I could call you if you'd like?" She asked, "Oh! Wait! I totally forgot to tell you! So, um, Kaitlyn? Well, um, so, I have a, well, a sort of special ability, or you could call it a talent."- She said, a bit hesitantly. Then, without warning, she concentrated hard-neon green with streaks of pink-neon green with streaks of pink-neon green with streaks of pink-and after a second, well, her hair was neon green with streaks of pink! -"I'm a metamorphmagus!"

Kaitlyn smiled at Scarlet’s response. ‘It sounds like Scarlet’s mother taught her a lot. I’d love to pick her brain and see what she was taught, it sounds exciting,’ she thought. “Oooh, I love apple pie. I made it …. once, I think. It’s been a while. I’d love to make the apple pie with you, and really whatever you’d like to make,” she giggled. “I’d like both of us to enjoy it, after all,” she smiled, knowing that she’d have fun with Scarlet in a kitchen.

As Scarlet helped her down the stairs, Kaitlyn flushed lightly. ‘This feels so weird … I feel weird. I’m usually the type that would offer to help my friends in a heartbeat. I’ve never been on the receiving end of being helped … It feels nice,’ she thought. A smile crossed her lips at Scarlet’s question about sharing more about each other. Before she could answer, however, Scarlet told her about a special ability … scratch that, she showed her the ability. Scarlet’s hair turned neon green with streaks of pink.

Kaitlyn’s eyes grew as wide as saucers. “Oooh! Cool! I love seeing the change right in front of my eyes!” She responded excitedly. “Awesome! I cannot believe I’ve now met three metamorphmagi,” she giggled. Her thoughts ran to Tracey and Minnie, smiling. “I think it’s cool that you can do that,” she added with a smile. “And, may I answer your original question? Not to take away from your amazing ability, of course. I don’t mind what nickname you call me. I’m been called Kaitlyn, Kait, Kaity, Katie, and Lyn. Feel free to call me what you want. Do you have any additional nicknames, other than Scarlet? Then again, I think Scarletta is a nice name, too,” she smiled.

"Then I can't wait to make it together!" Scarlet said happily. "We could add some cinnamon and a couple drops of lemon, that always makes things taste good!" She giggled.

As Scarlet helped her friend, she noticed her smile. It's great to see my friends happy, she thought, and I'm glad helping Kaitlyn is happy with me helping her. Seeing people smile is also reassuring.

After Scarlet had shown Kaitlyn her special talent, her friends reaction was very kind, surprised, and amazed. She also told her that she had met 2 other metamorphmagi, and Scarlet wasn't entirely sure about how to react to that; It's really cool there's also other metamorphmagi here, and maybe I will be able to meet them sometime, but, well, I guess that even though I know I shouldn't think this, at the same time it also takes away the feeling of being, well, the only one...no. forget that. Being unique is something I already am, so it doesn't-

Her thoughts were quickly cut off, as Kaitlyn kept talking. She then answered Scarlet's original question, saying if Scarlet wanted, people called her 'Kaitlyn, Kait, Kaity, Katie, and Lyn.'
"Oh, um alright! I think I'll go with Kaitlyn, Kaity or Kait" She said giggling. "As for me, I'm usually called Scarletta, Scarlet, Scarletty, Letty or Letta" She giggled again as she said this. "But if you have another name you think suits me, don't be afraid to say it!"

Kaitlyn giggled at Scarlet’s enthusiasm and nodded. “Of course! I cannot wait to make it with you. In can only imagine, for now, just how it’ll taste,” she responded with a bright smile. Despite how they got to where they were, Kaitlyn already liked her time with Scarlet. ‘I hope we have a long-lasting friendship, this is great, already … despite hurting my ankle. I’m glad she came back for me.’

Taking a glance, Kaitlyn looked over at Scarlet and smiled as she saw that her new friend was just as happy as she was. It made her heart melt. She liked seeing others happy and joyful, which meant she was doing something right. It was nice to see the confirmation, of course. While she hadn’t had the opportunity much, she loved to help others, especially her friends.

Kaitlyn giggled and nodded. “Fine with me. As you can guess, I’m not very picky,” she smiled. “And, oh, those are nice names for you. I think Scarlet and Letty sound wonderful,” she replied, still smiling.

“So, if you don’t mind me asking … how much of yourself can you transform? I think it’s very unique that you’re a metamorphmagus!” Kaitlyn exclaimed, bringing the topic back around to what Scarlet just showed her moments ago.

As the new friends, Scarlet and Kaity, walked step by step down the marble staircase, Scarlet heard the scraping of chairs and the sound of students getting up, probably going out to the grounds. Lunch was over. As the two girls stepped off the last stair, Scarlet, being just a bit taller than the other firsties, looked over the over students on the tips of her toes, and could just barely see the house tables. Empty. No food, no dirty plates, everything spick and span, like after every meal at Hogwarts.

She sighed. They would have to make their own food-or-"I know! We can get food in the kitchens! My parents told me house the house elves work there, and if you ask, they give you some food! The trick is to tickle the pear on the painting, that would then lead you to the entryway to the kitchens. You've probably been there before. Shall we get some food there? I'm starving...and lunch is over already." She said. "And maybe later today, as a desert we could make pie?" She asked. "If you want to of course." She quickly added.

When Kaity said any name was fine, and that she liked Scarlet and Letty, Scarlet giggled. "Haha, ok, just call me whatever you want!" She said laughing a little. I think this will become a great friendship. I hope so, and I actually really think
so! I know she twisted her ankle, but, still. A twisted ankle can never break a bond if it's knotted tight!

Kaity then asked her how much of her body she could transform, and Scarlet, now a bit happier, answered; "I can change my appearance whenever I want, and if I wanted to, I could be entirely unrecognizable. So, if I didn't want you to know it was me, I could look like someone entirely different! I could even grow little red horns on my head, or claws, but thety wouldn't cause any more damage." She said, "Oh, but I can't look like someone else yet. In their first year, metamorphmagi are not very good at their ability yet."

Kaitlyn smiled as she and Scarlet stepped off the last step and sighed softly but happy. ‘Phew, we are on the ground floor, now. I won’t have much extra to walk to get back to my common room, thankfully,’ she thought. She looked to Scarlet, who was thankfully able to look above the other students to the Great Hall.

“Oh yeah, the kitchens. I heard rumors about them. I wonder what they look like, or how you would get in? It does sound interesting. And, I wonder what was served today?” Kaitlyn responded. She gave a kind look to Scarlet. “Of course, I want to, silly. I want to hang out with you … you’re not going to get rid of me that easily,” she giggled.

Kaitlyn smiled at Scarlet’s acceptance of the nicknames and giggled. “Ok, will do,” she agreed. ‘This may have been a non-conventional meeting, but I’m glad it happened.’

As Scarlet described her ability, Katilyn’s eyes opened wide. ‘So awesome.’ It amazed her to watch the transformation in action. “That is so cool. If you don’t mind me asking, do you use your ability often?" she asked, with a smile. “It already looks amazing. I could only imagine how much better it could get when you’re older,” she concurred.
