Just a train ride away
Luggage loaded? Yes. Goodbyes said? Absolutely. So why was it so hard to start looking for a compartment? It was as if something was physically preventing AShlynn from moving and starting her next big adventure at Hogwarts. She had already said her goodbyes to her parents and her older brother, Arthur, disappeared from sight almost immediately after boarding the train. She waved to her parents through the window before she started to walk through the train carts.
She was excited, really she was, but something about leaving her family behind was unsettling, almost anxiety inducing. Yet, she took a deep breath and straightened her shoulders to calm herself, she was a Nettle for crying out loud! In all the situations she's been in, why was it this one that caused her the most stress? The desire to crawl into a hidey hole was strong but she ignored it.
A loud cough, scared her out of her thoughts, and she turned around slowly, coming face to face with one of the many train assistants. "Please find a compartment to sit in, the train is departing shortly." The assistant said curtly as they stared at her before walking in the opposite direction. Ashlynn stared as the assistant walked away before shaking herself out of her thoughts and deciding to walk along the long train carts, trying to find a compartment. Even though she was quite confident, she couldn't help but feel slightly inferior to everyone else. Being a halfblood meant she got the best of both worlds but from what her mother told her, some people held supremacist beliefs.
Finally, she found an empty compartment with no one staking a claim to it, and she sat down next to the big window. She opened her worn messenger bag and pulled out the book she was reading, ignoring the world around her.
