Writing Under The Stars
Screaming with @Matthew CampbellViva's eyes widened as Matthew leaned precariously over the edge of the balcony. What was he doing?! The moment he started screaming Viva flinched and gripped his hand tighter. She soon got over her shock, however, and taking a deep breath, leaned forward as well. This is crazy, was the last thought she had before opening her mouth. Whereas Matthew's screaming was more of a roar like a lion, Viva's was more of a wail like a wolf. It sounded almost like eerie music, the sound of her voice ringing through the night. Closing her eyes and letting her sorrow pour out in the wailing music of her soul, her anchor through it all was Matthew's hand.
She could feel hot tears running down her cheeks as she wailed to the night sky. The cold wind whisked her hair this way and that, and felt refreshing on her face. The eerie sound of the children rang into the night, the stars shivering and blinking above. Finally, Viva's voice ran out. It died with one last whisper, and she leaned back, head bowed, defeated. She felt strange, like a great weight had been taken off her chest. She felt almost... empty. The feelings of hurt and rejection and pain were still there, but not nearly as much as before. The wind blew around her, lifting her head, eyes still closed. Her lips were parted slightly, trying to breath. The only thing Viva was aware of was Matthew's hand, which still tightly clutched hers.

Writing Under The Stars
Bidding farewell to @Matthew CampbellViva felt a smile grow across her face as she heard Matthew's laugh. It was loud, and true, and Viva laughed right along with him, tear stains streaked across her cheeks. As they dashed down the stairs and through the otherwise quiet corridors, Viva couldn't stop laughing. For once she wasn't thinking about getting in trouble, or doing the right thing, or following the rules. For once, she could just stop and enjoy this magical night. The children ran down the corridor, hands clasped tightly together.
Finally, they slowed and Viva realised it was time to say goodbye. Looking into Matthew's eyes, she still couldn't stop smiling as he leaned in and hugged her. It felt like sunshine on a cloudy day. It felt like a warm blanket after the snowy cold. It felt like home, the home Viva had never known. Closing her eyes, she allowed herself to sink into the embrace, and just live in this moment. This had truly been a life-changing night for her, and Viva would never forget it.
After all that laughing, the whisper felt strangely quiet as it broke through the sudden stillness. "Yes," she breathed. "Yes, yes, yes, everything yes," she stared into Matthew's hazel eyes and blinked. He began to back away, and Viva felt a tinge of sadness start to creep back in. No. She told herself firmly. You'll see him again, remember that. Maybe you'll have a class with him. Viva blinked again, trying to rid herself of the tears in her eyes. Happy tears. "Goodnight," she whispered as he backed out of sight. Viva turned and made her way to the Hufflepuff common room, still smiling.Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.
