─────Landon knew he needed to get outside and get some fresh air. He knew it wasn't fully spring weather outside yet, but he needed to go outside for a while. He had spent a lot of time cooped up in the library and his dorm room, studying and reading for fun. He loved reading and learning, of course, but he also loved spending time outside. Landon tucked away his book on history, marking the page so he would know where to start reading the next time he picked up the book.

Landon smiled and moved to kiss the top of Merlin's head gently. The black kitten purred happily and rubbed his head against Landon's palm. Landon decided to leave Merlin in his dorm room for now, since he was heading outside. He smiled as he looked at the kitten once more before getting up and heading out the door once he grabbed a jacket. He didn't want to get too cold.

Landon walked outside to the courtyard and smiled happily as he breathed in the fresh air. It was really nice to be able to go outside more easily after the harsh cold of the winter months. He did still go outside in the winter. He had played in the snow and everything, but it was nicer to not have to plod through the snow. Landon smiled as he saw a vaguely familiar face. He had seen her before, but he didn't really get to know her much yet.

Landon walked toward her and smiled shyly. "H-Hello," he said softly. He didn't want to be annoying, but he did want to make more friends. "How are you today?"

─────Landon smiled softly as she greeted him. He was trying to make friends, even if he wasn't always comfortable with talking to strangers. He tried to relax a little so that he didn't feel so anxious. "It's a beautiful day to spend outside," he observed and smiled. "I've been well," he answered with a friendly smile. He had enjoyed his day so far, and he was glad to come outside for a while.

"My name is Landon Matthews," he said with a smile. "Nice to meet you, Linda," he said and moved to sit down next to her. "I hope it's okay if I join you. If not, I'll leave you alone so you can read," he explained. He didn't want to be in her way or annoy her. He was a friendly guy and he never wanted to be annoying to other people.

Landon smiled and nodded at both of her questions. "I like both," he admitted. "I read a lot, but I'm also on the Hufflepuff Quidditch team. Well, kind of. I'm a benchwarmer right now," he said with a small smile. He wasn't upset about being second-string. He was nervous about the time he would eventually be playing in the actual games. "I mostly read history books," he added. He was pretty set in what he liked to read.

"What are you reading?" he asked curiously.

─────Landon didn't want to be annoying to anyone. He tried to go out of his way to be kind. Landon was a sweet boy, even though he could be a little shy, especially for a Hufflepuff. But he always cared deeply about other people and wanted to be someone that others saw as a good person. Landon smiled softly as he looked at Linda. She seemed to be a friendly sort of person too, so he hoped they could be friends.

Landon smiled as she said that he could join her and that she was happy for him to do so. His blue eyes lit up as he sat down near her and he gave her a grin. "I'm glad I can join you. I am trying to make new friends," he admitted. He could have been better at meeting new people because he could be quiet and bookish, but he was trying his best. Landon looked at Linda and noticed her bright red hair. It was intense, but he liked it. It suited her. He was sure that his twin would have something negative to say about it, but Landon thought it was cool.

Landon hummed a little as she said that he might get to first-string soon. "I don't know if I want that yet," he admitted. "I'm scared about letting the team down," he added. Landon loved playing Quidditch and loved being a part of the team, but he was always worried that he wasn't good enough for the team, even if he had tried out and been chosen. He wouldn't be on the team if they didn't believe in him. "I do love Quidditch. It's a lot of fun," he said with a grin. "Though I can't really see myself playing any other position than Keeper," he explained. He liked the idea of protecting things.

"It could be cool to play Quidditch after Hogwarts," he said. "I don't know if I will or not, because I mostly want to focus on history stuff. I really love history," he said with a smile. "What sort of stuff do you like to read?" he asked.

Landon smiled widely as Linda said they could become friends. "Of course, I would like that," he said with a smile. He was always happy to make friends. Maybe it was the Hufflepuff in him, but he just wanted to get along with everyone. He just liked being friendly, even if he was pretty shy at times.

Landon sighed a little as he voiced his concerns about Quidditch. He loved the sport, but he was always worried about letting the team down. Right now he was grateful to be second-string Keeper instead of first-string, but he was working hard to get better. "My teammates are super supportive. They go out of their way to help me improve, and that's really nice to experience," he admitted, relaxing a little. He really did love his team, though he was a little nervous about who was going to be Captain this upcoming year since Howard was graduating.

Landon nodded a little as Linda said she didn't really like the subject of history. "It's not the most common thing to like," he admitted. "I do love reading about medieval times," he said. "I mean, the age of knights and stuff. It's really fascinating," he explained. "But I also love learning about magical history. How the school was founded, great witches and wizards... I find it all really interesting." Landon didn't necessarily want to live in the medieval times, but he just found the era really interesting.

Landon smiled softly as he looked at Linda. "You don't have to like history. It's okay. But I find it really important that people learn from it either way," he said. "Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it, and all that," he quoted.

Landon smiled softly and nodded. "Yeah, I've noticed that the Hufflepuff team is super supportive of me," he said happily. He was so glad that they had taken him under their wing without judgment. They accepted him for how nervous he was and tried to help him build up his confidence. Landon always worried that he wasn't going to be good enough for the team, but he was trying really hard and he loved Quidditch so much. "Not going to give away Hufflepuff secrets, of course, but they are so kind."

Landon hummed softly. "Some of the non-magical history intertwines with magical history. For example, the story of King Arthur and Merlin. We know of Merlin as being really important to magical history, but they also talked about them in non-magical myths too," he said with a smile. He loved all of that sort of stuff, but he didn't want to bore people too much with his love of history.

"It's true, we really do repeat things if we don't learn from the past. It's sad and a bit scary at times," he admitted. He always tried to learn from the past, the mistakes that other people had made, and the mistakes he made himself. That was the best way to improve things.

"I know a lot about history, but there's a lot of history to know, so I don't know everything," he explained. "I just really love it. It's important to me, and I just want to learn more and more. They say that history is written by the victors so I like to learn the history from all perspectives that I can," he added. "If I don't know something, I love researching it to find out more information!" Landon was pretty excited to read and research things history-related, but he didn't always understand the magic part of his classes as easily. He was very much a book learner, not a practical magic user.
