Dear Grandmother,
I decided to write my very first letter to you! I promise I'll write one for Grandpa later. Anyway, hw are you? How is the little kitty Miso? Do you remember when I used to call her the little kitty because I couldn't remember what her name was? That was what, 4 years ago?
Oh right, I got sorted into Gryffindor! I'm really enjoying all the red and gold I see everywhere, and I love our common room. My dorm is beautiful as well.
The first night in the dorm was strange. Not going to bed surrounded by all the plants in my room, and not waking up to smell whatever you were baking in the morning. I read my favorite book to fall asleep though, The Chronicles of the Black Sky. It put me to sleep fast. I miss the days when we would sit and read together sometimes, but I'm still happy to be at Hogwarts.
I was able to share some of my chocolate that you gave me with a new person I met. Her name is Primrose, and she's a Hufflepuff. She's very sweet. Earlier, we explored the castle a bit while searching for the Great Hall together. The food here is AMAZING!
Grandma! The great hall definitely lives up to it's name. You never told me how incredible it is.
I've been writing in my notebook frequently, as usual. I think I might be able to get some good stuff for the novel I want to write, even though I don't really know what that novel is going to be yet. I'll keep you updated.
I think some of the people in my dorm think I'm kind of cold or extremely introverted. I think it's cause I'm either reading or writing all the time. I need to break out of my shell. Eh, my goal for the year is to get one friend!
I wonder if mom and dad are thinking of me? I wonder if they will send me anything. I wonder.
Anyway, I miss you and Grandpa so much, but I'm having a great time here. I really am.

How are you? I wrote Grandma a couple of days ago, and I wanted to write to you now!
Guess what? I got sorted into Gryffindor just like you and Dad. Father and son, right? I really like the common room. The dorms and the beds are super comfy, and all my dorm mates are nice. I still haven't made friends with any of them yet, though. I hope I'll be able to soon. I think I'm just awkward.
Are you feeling any better? When I left you weren't able to talk to me..how is your voice? I hope you will still be able to write me back. Remember to take your medicine! I know grandma can forget to give it to you sometimes. When I come to visit I'll sit with you and read with you in your room. It's a promise!
I've made friends with a couple of people from some different houses, and get this! I met someone when she came down from a tree. That's pretty cool, you've got to admit. Her name is Ruby, and she also likes to write, so I think we'll get along well.
Speaking of writing, my notebook has been extremely useful. I'm always writing new material down, new feelings, new experiences! All of the things I can use for my novel. I think it's going to be set in some sort of new society, and will have girls be born from trees. (Inspired by Ruby.) I'm not sure if I want it to be horror, fantasy, slice of life, etc yet...But I'll keep you updated!

Have you or Grandma heard anything from Mom and Dad? I wonder if they have been thinking about me. Probably not, you know them! But do you know anything about their whereabouts? I'm curious to know what adventure their seeking out right now. I decided that I want to write a novel and dedicate it to you and them, because maybe then they'll be proud of me. I hope they will want to see me if I'm able to finish my novel. They haven't sent me ant gifts or letters yet. I hope they will, since they know where I am.
Well, I have to go read up on some of my classes before I head out for dinner.
