Brewing A New Friend
Minnie sighed as she went to the dungeons for another round of potions. It wasn't that she hated it, she loved the idea of using ingredients to make something new-like baking. But in reality, she was horrible at potions. So she was not pleased to be having a double block of potions.
When the class started, Minnie started adding the ingredients, and the cauldron made a hissing noise and turned blood red. Feeling slightly freaked out, she quickly backed away from the potion, bumping into someone. She blushed, but didn't move back, especially when the potion started to turn vibrant green and a sick kind of orange.
"Pumpkin pasties!" She muttered under her breath. "This is really bad. I should not be this bad at potions." She told herself, then flushed farther as she realized she was talking aloud to herself. "Sorry for interrupting you from your potion making." Minnie said as she turned to face the person she had bumped into. It was a girl, and she sighed with relief, knowing a girl wouldn't make such a fuss. Not in her experience at least. "Um...well, hello anyways. My name is Minnie. Minnie Duke to be exact. Could you tell me your name?"

"Oh, um hello! I don't mind. And, well, my name is Scarletta Davis." She seems very nice. Scarletta Thought. "But if you'd like to be friends, you can call me Scarlet." And after a small pause she said, "Oh and, um, well, do you want any help with your potion? You seem a little discouraged. When I tried my first potion, it turned Red, brown and very bubbly, blue, and finally gray, as that was the color it should have been, but it was blowing up clouds of steam!" I really feel sorry for her. She seems so stricken just because she didn't make her potion exactly right! I should help. "So, I'm not better than you in any way. But if you'd like some advice, I always read the instructions twice and then only do what it says. So if it says let it brew for 20 minutes, after that time don't turn down the heat unless it says so. Usually you just have to add ingredients." Oh my I hope I didn't scare her off! I only meant to help. "I-I-I'm sorry. I didn't mean t-to act as if I know b-b-better." Scarletta said with a hushed voice. "If you'd like we can maybe be friends?" She asked with a hopeful voice, trying to make it right.Interacting with:Reducio@Minnie DukeOutfit:Reducio

"Oh. Uhh...hi Scarlet, nice to meet you!" She responded, taken aback by the niceness of the girl. "And...thanks. For the advice and the friendship offer. I would love to take it." What are you saying? Her head went on. Why? She probably didn't mean it and now...just see if she meant it. "Erm...if you really want to be friends I mean. And...um..." Minnie glanced at her potion, which was starting to bubble violently. "Maybe you haven't seen bad skills like mine." She finished, wishing she could back away farther.
As she surveyed the room, it seemed almost no one was looking at her thankfully. But sooner or later, the professor would notice the...mess, and give her a detention! But she kept those worries to herself, wanting to focus on talking to Scarlet. "So...is this your favorite class or are you just good at it?" She asked, making conversation while stealing terrified glances at her potion. "I...my favorite class is astronomy, I just love it! And...oh! I have a fun thing that I can do, want to see it?" Not waiting for the girl's answer, she screwed up her face, concentrating, and made her hair turn a deep purple, then waited for Scarlet's response.

"Of course I want to be friends with you! You seem very kind, and I can't wait to brew a new friendship together!" Scarlet giggled. "Don't worry about your potion." She said, waving her hand 'away' behind her, as if she should 'throw her worries away' "Everyone's got to learn, and I'm not that much better than you either way." Then Minnie asked if potions was her fave subject, and Scarlet knew the answer right away. "Nope, potions is not my best, or favorite. It's Defense Against the Dark Arts for me. That's my best subject, and I really like it. Also, my parents are both aurors, and I'd like to be one too. But astronomy is also one of my top classes! It's really fascinating. I've only had one lesson so far, though, and I can't wait to learn more!"
What came next was certainly the best part of the potions lesson so far.
Minnie said she had a fun thing she could do, and then, Scarlet would never have guessed: hhe changed her hair to violet! Minnie Duke was a metamorphmagus. Being one herself, Scarlet was really amazed. Without being able to containing herself, she burst out: "Merlin's cauldron cakes! You're a metamorphmagus! OMG. That's amazing! I-AM-TOO!!!" She took a breath, as she hadn't breathed the whole time she had been talking. Then, without warning, she turned her hair blue-green, the color of her eyes and the sea, with some streaks of scarlet in it.Interacting with:Reducio@Minnie DukeOutfit:Reducio

Minnie's mouth fell open when Scarlet changed her hair color. She had never met someone who had the same ability as her. In fact, many people had openly told her that it was a weird talent...but now she knew someone else. Wow! That really is cool! She thought, then took another nervous glance at her potion. It had started to spew orange sparks violently. She paled farther. "Um...wow. I've never met someone with a talent the same as mine." She said when she realized that she should probably respond to Scarlet. "An auror is a job that I think would be interesting. Although, since you need potions skills, I doubt I'd get in." She forced a laugh, but it was as fake as it sounded.
Pumpkin juice! I am going to get in so much trouble for this. She thought miserably. At least I'll be keeping up with the Duke detentions. It'll be for something I didn't mean to do though. She glanced up at the teacher, who still had miraculously not seen the mess she had made. All this for a simple potion that she failed to make. At least she had made a friend out of it. "So...have you been to the library?"

"Actually, I haven't seen any other metamorphmagi like me before either! It's really cool that you are one too. And if you want to, and you set your mind to it, I know that you will become an auror. Really. We might both become aurors! That would be fun. And by the way, I heard that if you're a metamorphmagus it's much easier to become one. So don't worry about your potion! Let's try and fix it together." Scarletta said, trying to comfort her friend, who seemed very miserable about her potion. "You won't get in detention for a potion Minnie. Stop worrying. Please. I know you can do it, and you know that too. The only thing you've got to do, is, well, do it." She said, hoping she could help her friend at least a little.
"So, um, what's it like in Hufflepuff? Do you have many kind and loyal friends? I mean, you're such a kind person, that you undoubtedly do." She said, as she smiled kindly to her friend. "And how has Hogwarts been for you so far?" She asked, trying to change the subject, knowing as she did that Minnie didn't really feel at her ease talking about potions.Interacting with:Reducio@Minnie DukeOutfit:ReducioNotes:ReducioSpeech: #3d00e6
