Studying and Revising PV Inara Yang Closed

Inara had always loved the Hogwarts Library. It was filled with Magical books, regular books, and it was almost like a whole universe to explore. The Muggle world had libraries, yes, and Inara loved those too, but the magical world had libraries that were just SO much cooler, and well.. Magical. Inara hoped she would be able to add to this collection of books someday, when she was older. But now wasn't really the time to think about that. She had left her HoM Essay Late AGAIN! Inara was hoping to find a book in the Library about it. Most people expected, or saw her as a super organized person who got their assignments done on time. That was VERY far from the truth... Honestly, her room back home was a MESS, and well... Her HoM essay was due tomorrow. Her cat Artemis accompanied her to the Library today, as she almost always did. Artemis enjoyed climbing up the shelves and knocking books down. Inara let her do it, but she always made sure to put them back. Continuing to look for the book she needed, Inara walked over to the Historical section of the Library, and she spotted someone who looked vaguely familiar sitting there. She couldn't remember why they looked familiar... But Inara wasn't about to go introduce herself! That would be very awkward! It wasn't until Artemis walked straight up to the person, that she followed, rather reluctantly. Hopefully, the person wouldn't be distracted by Artemis.. Artemis was quite distracting sometimes. Then, Suddenly, Artemis jumped straight into the Person's lap. "Artemis!" Inara scolded. Then she said, "Sorry about that!" to the person. Then, she realized why the person looked so familiar! They had met at.. a muggle summer camp? She couldn't quite remember the girl's name.. Katherine maybe? But she wasn't sure if the person would recognize her, so she didn't say anything.

Kaitlyn worked on her potions essay, in complete silence. Just the sound of her quill scratching away at the parchment paper in front of her. Her words in neat script handwriting, her i’s dotted with little hearts. A handwriting style she perfected at St. Ann’s. While she had many confidence issues and barely knew how to interact with others, she was very proud of her handwriting. Whenever she handed in work, it often took her a long time to hand it in, but it was written to perfection. Not to mention her desire for perfect notes. Her notes, after many, many, many revisions, would resemble a textbook.

At first, Katie was unaware of another presence that was not too far away, nor was she aware that the person’s cat was walking towards her. She only aware of it, when the cat suddenly jumped in her lap. She dropped her quill, which landed on her essay and quickly covered her mouth. “Eeeep!” she exclaimed in her hand, coming up muffled. She’d rather not be told to quiet down in the library, one of her favorite places.

Then, a girl scolded the cat. ‘Likely her pet,’ she observed. Katie’s heart raced in her chest from the sudden appearance of Artemis. As her breathing slowly returned to normal, she looked at the girl who apologized to her. She recognized the girl’s appearance. ‘She looks familiar … Ugh, why am I bad with names? I think … Oh, that’s right, summer camp … In … ara …’ She gave a slight shy smile. “Inara, i-is that you? You’re h-here? At Hogwarts? A m-systical m-magical school? W-with me … here … r-right now?” She asked, bewildered. “I’m n-not dreaming? Here, p-pinch me,” she extended her arm to Inara. Her stutter not nearly as frequent.

"Inara, i-is that you? You’re h-here? At Hogwarts? A m-systical m-magical school? W-with me … here … r-right now? “I’m n-not dreaming? Here, p-pinch me,” Inara heard the girl say. Stunned (NOT MAGICALLY STUNNED, she hasn't learned that spell yet) that the girl recognized her, she was silent for a few moments. It was kind of embarrassing that this person remembered her name, and she didn't remember their name. Realizing she had been silent for a little bit, she cleared her throat and said, "Hi... Um, Yes it's Inara, and um.. I don't think the pinching will be neccessary? Inara understood how she felt though. Deep down, she was still surprised herself, even though she had grown up knowing about Hogwarts. She didn't really want to ask yet, so she started trying to remember the girl's name... it wasn't Katherine... maybe, Katrina? Wait that wasn't right.. Katie? Kait-Kaitlyn? That sounded about right. Hoping she was right, she asked, "Um, sorry, I kind of forgot your name.. Was it Katie? Or Katrina?" She cursed herself silently (NOT MAGICALLY)she had meant to say Kaitlyn, but honestly, she wasn't sure if that was right either. Looking down at Artemis, she noticed that her cat wasn't where it had been a while ago. Startled, she looked up, and there was Artemis, casually climbing up the sixteenth shelf of the library. It was so high, Inara could barely see her.

Kaitlyn looked at Inara dumb-founded, shocked to see this girl at Hogwarts. ‘I never even guessed she was magical … Is she a muggle-born like me? Or was this not at all a surprise to her? I am shooked,’ she thought. Hearing Inara’s voice, her mind hummed. ‘Yup, that’s Inara … while we both changed since summer camp, I was able to recognize her … surprisingly. I’m usually pretty bad at names,’ she thought.

Katie’s cheeks flushed lightly. “Ah, y-yes, yes, of c-course. Eeep, I c-cannot believe it’s you,” she repeated. Her potions essay was now sitting on the table, completely forgotten about. The flush on her cheeks deepened when Inara admitted to forgetting her name. ‘Ah, I guess I’m not that memorable … I’m not surprised by that. Why would I be memorable?’

Gigging slightly, Kaitlyn gave Inara a smile. “Kaitlyn … Kaitlyn Connor. You c-can call m-me Katie if that’s e-easier. I always l-liked the name K-katherine, though. It has a nice ring to it,” she giggled. She noticed that Inara’s cat was no longer by her side. Her eyes found Artemis, as well, climbing the bookcases. “I … um … I d-doubt I could be of a-any help with … I t-think you called y-your cat, Artemis? I d-son’t think I can help you get her d-down,” she observed.

“Kaitlyn … Kaitlyn Connor. You c-can call m-me Katie if that’s e-easier. I always l-liked the name K-katherine, though. It has a nice ring to it,” Kaitlyn responded. See I knew it was Kaitlyn! Inara thought to herself. Then she answered, "That's a nice name! Sorry, I'm very, very bad with names." Now curious, she wondered if Kaitlyn had grown up knowing about all this, just like her, or if this was all new to her... Finally, she asked "Um, did you.. g-grow up knowing about ... magic?" Realizing Kaitlyn must be equally curious, or even more curious than her, because she seemed so surprised to see her at Hogwarts, she added, "I'm a Half-Blood witch, so I grew up.. knowing about all this. Some Half-Blood witches don't grow up knowing though." The term "Half-Blood" seemed to remind her of something... then she remembered, and blurted out, "Do you remember reading Percy Jackson at summer camp?" She realized that this was completely unrelated and she started to feel embarrassed... She avoided eye contact with Kaitlyn, and instead looked up to see Artemis, climbing up the seventeenth shelf. She didn't really mind actually... Cats always land on two feet right? of course she knew it was a superstition, and not true, but... this was the magical world after all

Katie giggled quietly at Inara’s answer. “I’m u-usually bad with names, too, d-don’t feel bad about it,” she tried to reassure Inara, giving her a slightly brighter smile. She nodded in understanding. “Ah, that’s so c-cool. At least you knew a-about all this,” she waved her arms around awkwardly to try to gesture to magic in general, “which m-must have been insanely h-helpful. Ah. I wasn’t r-raised with magic at all, I’m a m-muggleborn,” she confirmed with a shrug. As much as she would have loved to know about this before, she liked her life as a muggle, even though she didn’t like having to leave her friends.

Hearing Inara’s question, Katie giggled again and nodded. “Yes, I did. I e-enjoyed reading it. Did y-you?” she asked, a brighter smile on her face, as she remembered the memories of their time at summer camp. “Would y-you like to join m-me?” She asked, gesturing to some free seats at the table, giving Inara plenty of options. “And Artemis is w-welcome, too,” she continued. “I’m just h-happy to see another f-friendly face … I hope we can h-have a chance to r-reconnect?” She offered optimistically. While she did her best to remember her time with Inara at the camp, things clearly happened since.

"I-I'm usually bad with names too, d-don't feel bad about it" Kaitlyn responded, which kind of made Inara feel worse about it, but she didn't really answer that. Kaitlyn also told her that she was a muggleborn, which Inara found really interesting. When Inara blurted out the thing about Percy Jackson, Kaitlyn had said she enjoyed reading it, so Inara decided to ask: "Wh-who is your f-favorite character?" to add on to that, she asked, "U-Um If you were a demigod who would be your godly parent?". Realizing she might have said too many things at once, she stopped. Hopefully she wasn't overwhelming Kaitlyn. Kaitlyn asked Inara if she'd like to join her, so Inara did, thanking her. She smiled a bit, when Kaitlyn said that Artemis was welcome to join too. Kaitlyn was being so nice! Inara couldn't believe that she hadn't really remembered her... After a bit of a silence, Kaitlyn said that she hoped to have a chance to reconnect, and Inara told her that that would be great, and she really hoped she could reconnect with her too! Inara didn't remember summer camp that much.. she only remembered that they had read books there, and that she had made a few new friends. trying to take her mind of the matter, she noticed that Kaitlyn had a quill, a textbook, and parchment out, so she asked, "W-were you writing a-an essay?"

Katie thought for a few moments about Inara’s question. Her favorite character? Wow, there was a lot to choose from. “I r-really liked Annabeth Chase. She w-was such a wonderful c-character and a b-badass. And, of c-course, Percabeth being e-endgame,” she giggled. “What a-wbout you?” Inara then asked what godly parent she thought she’d be claimed by, and Katie giggled. “I w-would love to be claimed b-by Athena. I think I’m pretty s-smart … at least, I try t-to be, anyway. But, I’m a-also a plant lover. Maybe Demeter? I t-think I’m the type that if I w-were at Camp Half-blood, I’d have a g-garden of plants g-growing in my cabin,” she giggled at the thought. “W-who do you think you’d be c-claimed by?”

Kaitlyn smiled brightly when Inara joined her. ‘I hope Inara would like to spend some time with me. I feel like this is a great opportunity for us to actually get to know each other,’ she thought. Her blue eyes dropped to her work at Inara’s question and she giggled. “Ah, I w-was, yes. A Potions e-essay,” she confirmed. “As m-much as I like to do w-work in the Slytherin c-common room, I just l-love libraries too m-much,” she giggled. “May I a-ask what you were p-planning to do here?”
