The Alberdale and Reyes Family are both rich families who are well respected in their respective countries.
The Alberdale family, a family of purebloods,has a rather well known wizarding sweet shop back in the U.S. They only have a single branch in the U.S to ensure the quality and rarity of their sweets but many witches and wizards from various places go there to taste their high-end candies and sweets.
Meanwhile, the Reyes family, a family mixed with pure and half bloods, may not have any notable businesses, but they do have plenty of talented and hard-working family members that are well known and respected in their chosen field of work. Most members of the Reyes family are Potioneers and Healers who work all around the globe.
Markus was raised in a surprisingly strict and pressuring environment. He was expected to excel in everything he does since his family is known to be rather competitive with each other, mostly on his mother's side or the Reyes family. While most children would crumble or at least feel miserable about this kind of environment, he often found himself thriving in it.
As a young child he was always praised for his 'maturity' yet there are times where his childishness shows, for example, he lost against his cousin in a game of some sorts when they were in a national monument park back in the Philippines. He was so upset that he threw a tantrum and nearly sent the entirety of the park on fire, thankfully nearby wizards had taken care of it before it hit the news.
In his environment, being a child can be quite difficult so with his determination and cunning mind, he finds his way to get what he wants and enjoy his childhood. This includes using his talent in playing the violin by being a masked street performer extraordinaire in the streets of London to earn muggle money to buy muggle items. Due to his expertise in lying to his relatives, they never knew about his street performances.
His family had a huge gathering for Markus' birthday, as expected he received his Hogwarts acceptance letter, some of his relatives were proud and some were green with envy. Personally, he didn't care what they think. He was excited to meet other kids his age and finally get to act like the child he is while learning about various spells and perhaps more information about the muggle world through the muggleborns.

He has a pleasant relationship with his mother, she is the one whom has attempted to teach him about discipline and manners. He got his moody nature from her.

He has a close relationship with his father, they often bond over books and other childish stuff together. They haven't seen each other for years due to his job though. He got his mature yet playful nature from him.
FRIENDS
Finn Valois
Markus' bestfriend. He met finn through owling and has been close friends with him ever since. Markus tells him everything and trusts in him completely since he is very fond of the boy, more than he realizes.
Artie Strauss
A friend of Markus, they met on the platform to Hogwarts. Markus taught Artie everything she knows about the wizarding world. He treats her like a little sister.
