There had been a signup sheet for quill palls, something Mylo had heard about from his pa, although he had called it pen palls. Mylo assumed the name change was due to the wizarding world not having pens. Which was one thing that still kind of baffled them, they're so much easier.

Having decided it might be nice to have someone to write to at any time they had signed up waiting to be paired with another student. And after a while they had gotten a message saying they had been paired up with Hannah Blossom.

They had taken quite a while to get started on their letter, trying to come up with the best way to write it. It look him so long in fact that before they had even started Hannah's letter had arrived. Reading it gave Mylo the idea's on what to write in their own.

Hi Hannah,

Thank you for introducing yourself to me, I'm also looking forward to getting to know you.

A little bit about myself. I am Mylo as you already know. I am also twelve and have a little sister. I like reading, drawing, being out in nature and animals (especially cats), playing football and learning random facts.

I'm not sure yet what I want to be when I'm older, is there such a thing as magical firefighters?

As soon as the letter arrived, Hannah got to writing again. She was excited when she got the letter and read it quickly. It was short, but it made a point and that was enough. Once she finished the letter, it was quite late, and she needed to get some rest, so she would only send it the next day.

Dear Mylo, Yeah, of course! That's what quill palls are for right? That's nice. How old is your sister? Will she be coming to Hogwarts? You're a first year right? I'm a second, but we have the same age, so there isn't much difference. Except for the subjects. I can introduce you to my cat, Storm, if we ever acquaint. I believe not! That would be nice though, however we do learn a few spells to control fires here at Hogwarts, so, that's something. I think that's everything.. Warm Regards,

She carefully sent the letter, after her classes finished. She hoped he'd reply soon. Mylo seemed like a nice person, someone she would definitely be friends with.

Mylo received another letter a few days later during one of their breaks, he enjoyed reading it and took his time trying to write the best reply, they were a bit of a perfectionist.

Hi Hannah!

My sister is 8 years old, do you know if you're going to have a sister or a brother?

Second years have a few extra subjects right? I imagine it's a bit more difficult than what we learn in first year. Sometimes I think that it can't get more difficult than what we're already learning, so I wonder how much more difficult some subjects are going to get. I hope not too difficult, I don't want to fail any of them.

What's your favourite subject by the way? Mine is I think herbology, I love learning about the different plants and ways to use them.

I'd love to meet Storm! I'm thinking about also getting a cat, maybe they could have a playdate! If they get along that is. And it would make sense that there would be no magical firefighters, the wizards would be able to put it out themselves making the job quite useless.

Having finished off the letter they read over it a few times to make sure it was perfect. Deciding to let it be he gave it to one of the owls for it to be delivered. Hoping that she'd enjoy his letter he left the tower thinking to themselves about how nice she seemed.

Another letter had arrived and Hannah read it a few times before sending a proper reply. This one was a bit longer and she was excited to reply.

Dear Mylo, So you have a three year age gap? No, my mom knows, however me and my father asked for her not to tell us, so it'll be a surprise for me! The baby is due to March 3rd. My mom found out that she was having a baby in August, and it was a huge shocker for me! Maybe you can give me some tips on how to be a good sister? Yeah, but just just a few more. It isn't that difficult, you just have to get used to it! I have a study schedule, so that might help you, if you'd like me to send it! And I'm sure you'll do fine in your second year. My favorite subject has always been Charms and Flying, but I hate Astronomy, it's just so useless... Herbology is fun! You should get a cat! I have two dogs at home and sometimes I miss them a lot, but I have Storm, so she reminds me of home a lot. I can help you pick out a name! Maybe you could get one over spring break? That's pretty soon! Are you staying at Hogwarts or going home? Yeah, unless they didn't teach us how to put it out ourselves, it would be nice. Warm Regards,

Another letter! Mylo was actually quite enjoying the exchange of letters, it gave them a bit of time to just sit down and think of what they would like to say to their quill pall. After having read the newest one they sat down and started writing a response.

Hi Hannah,

We have a 4 year age gap, Andrea was born on February 4 so she actually just had her birthday. I think the best advice advice is to take care of them, but to also have fun. I like playing football with Andrea and my dad, maybe you could do that as well! You do need to be careful not to hit the ball too hard. You could also teach them to say a really weird word as their first one, I bet that would be funny.

I would appreciate that, it might help me make my own as well. What do you do in flying in second year? Is it more theory or do you like learn to practice for Quidditch or something? I can't imagine there is much too it, Astronomy can be really useful though! You can use the stars to navigate and learn them to impress your friends. If we want to do space travel as well we need to know about the planets and stuff. Although if that's not something you want to do I can see why you'd see it as useless.

Ooh! What are your dogs names? I want to get a cat but I need to check if I can leave them here for holidays as my pa's allergic to cats, so I don't want to bring them home, unless there's like a spell that I can use to make sure they wouldn't shed or something. But I doubt it. I'd love to hear your ideas for names! I won't choose one until I have them though, need to make sure they like it.

And I'll be going home for the holidays, I need to check that Andrea hasn't messed with my stuff. And I want to see my friends from home, haven't seen them in a while now. Are you going home?

Dear Mylo, Thank you for the advice! Your sister seems lovely! I could teach him/her to play Quidditch! I think I will, that will surely be funny! Okay, I'll send it to you soon. Yeah we do a lot of flying and we talk about broom sports like Quidditch and broom racing. I know... But still, as an auror I would never actually use Astronomy and I don't think my friends would be impressed with my skills in Astronomy. Wednesday and Tuesday! Named after my favorite days of the week. At least my old favorite days of the week. I used to have violin practice these days and I absolutely love violin! I've been playing it since I was five. I don't think there's a spell, but I bet Stormie would love to have a friend! You could leave it with me and I'll take it home! We have a big pet room that fits the dogs and Storm, but I'm sure your cat would fit! Maybe Caramel, Bob or something like I don't know? Some sort of muggle sweet? I've been dying to try some of those! Oh! What about Sunny? If you're opting for a girl! Summer, Winter, Spring or Autumn could be good names too! I'll be going home! Hi Hannah,

Teaching them Quidditch does seem like a fun idea! I would wait until they can walk though, they might be able to fly better then. Although if you strap them in properly it might work, like a car seat but for a broom. I don't actually know if those exist in the magical world, do you guys have broomseats?

You never know if your friends will be impressed by your knowledge, and you never know when it might come in useful. Maybe you have to go undercover as an astronomer, and if you don't know your planets you could blow your cover! I always like to think it's better to have a little bit of knowledge in everything than to know everything of one thing and nothing of anything else. And becoming an auror sounds really cool, you can do spy stuff and such.

That is something we unfortunatly disagree on, Friday and Saturday are the best days of the week, those are the days closest to the weekend and still farthest away from the next week. I can see though how if you have something you love on those days it makes them a lot better! They do make good dog names. Great choice. And I'll have a look what I'll do once I've gotten them, maybe my pa can take medication or I can indeed leave them with you, thank you for the offer.

As for names, I quite like Bob, but that's something I'm going to wait with deciding on until I've met them. I'm sure there's one name that will be perfect, and I won't know until I see them. I hope you enjoy your time home and that your sibling's nice!

Hannah started writing her next letter. She realized that her letters were getting longer, and she liked that, she really enjoyed writing.

Dear Mylo, Yeah, definitely! My parents only let me fly when I came to Hogwarts, but I really wish I had learned to fly sooner. I kind of hope they do Quidditch too when they come to Hogwarts! Or broom racing. I those exist, or maybe they do.. not sure, though. Yeah, I really want to become one! Friday and Saturday are nice, but I absolutely hate Monday. Worst day of the week, ever! The letters had started to become a regular thing for Mylo, they quite enjoyed getting them and then formulating their response to it and sending it off again. Once again they sat down and started to write the next one.

Hi Hannah!
I'd loved to have learnt flying before I came to Hogwarts. I think I would have liked the idea of flying more than the actual flying itself though. As long as I'm going slow and calm I like it, I've found out I'm not that good with high heights unfortunately.

You seem to really enjoy flying, so I hope your sibling also really likes it. Maybe you can talk to them about it and like condition them to like it. It might work. And I hope you become and auror, is it difficult to become one? If it's spy stuff it can't be too easy to join them I assume.

Mondays are the worst day of the week, I hate having to get up early after the weekend. Why can't magic just make it go away.
