Yet another Saturday back at Hogwarts. So what did Harley decide to do? Study. Why? Well, why not? Homework never completed itself before, and his good grades definitely weren't a product of his smarts. No, definitely not. Though, it must be said, he would've preferred to do anything but study today. The weather was lovely, if chilly. The sun was out, a light breeze blew across the Great Lake and the grounds. Perfect day to get lost in nature, play some quidditch, doodle under a tree— anything at all. Instead, he was stuck inside doing homework for history of magic, of all things. Self-inflicted, yes, but boring all the same.

He dragged his quill across the paper, jotting down what he thought were the answers to the questions. To his credit, it's been a while since he got anything other than an O. His grades here were like his grades in muggle schools. Always excelling in everything— after hours of hard fought battles against his textbooks.

His mind wandered back to those days. It hasn't even been a year, yet it felt so distant in the past. He reminisced about his old mates, his teachers— especially his history teacher. She was always so kind and helpful. A part of him missed it, learning about muggle history. Frankly, history of magic just didn't hit the same. It wasn't dull, per se, but it didn't have the same flare.

It made him wonder... Would the Hogwarts library have any books on muggle history? Probably not, but it wouldn't hurt to look. So, he dropped his quill and left his stuff at the table in search of a book on muggle history. Sorry, history of magic. You simply weren't cool enough.

______________________________

As of lately, Lottie had begun feeling like a delinquent. Or at least, whatever a delinquent was in the eyes of her parents, which was usually anything to do with muggles.

She no longer had to sneak the books on muggle history from room to room, nor did she have to hide the torn pages of old paintings found in art history books between her mattress and bed frame. Now, she just had to go to the library and find the section on muggle books.

That day, a remarkably beautiful day in her books, she decided to take some free time to read up on whichever book she had last left off on. That day, it was the Odyssey. Well, a very broken down translation of it targeted for people just above her age group. She wasn't quite ready for the original.

She found a table towards the end of the library, a quiet little spot where she could sit uninterrupted for a few hours and ignore the homework that had been piling up the past few days. She opened up the book slowly, inhaling the familiar scent of the worn pages wafting up into the air and sending her into a trance. She pushed her dark hair behind her ears and started reading, cheek resting on the palm of her hand.

She hardly noticed the other boy sitting near her.
