On Friday, March 15, after a long day of classes, Landon felt the anxious desire to get outside. As per usual, Landon needed a break from being cooped up inside after a long day of classes. He loved classes, of course, he was happy to learn new things, but he just wanted some fresh air too. He liked spending time outside, and it was a good day weather-wise so he was hoping that he could spend some time there for a while. He was debating spending time outside to do his coursework maybe, but he just wanted to relax for a while before starting the work.

Landon walked out of the castle and headed in the direction of the lake. He didn't love the lake, not after having fallen in during the last school event and nearly drowning. The Grindylows were so terrifying now. Before having fallen in, Landon hadn't minded the lake that much, but he didn't like it very much now. He never let himself walk too close to the water. Landon sighed as he walked, breathing in the fresh air and just letting himself enjoy the sunlight before the sun would go down. He wanted to take in the fresh air before it was time to get back inside before supper.

Landon had dropped his bag off in his dorm room, not bringing the homework with him because, even though he was debating doing homework outside, he wanted to spend some time without the stress of homework first. He moved to a big tree, leaning up against its trunk and letting his eyes close as he relaxed.

It was a beautiful day in March. Lily had finished the classes for the day and had a lot of homework to complete. She had went up to her dormitory and changed into a light blouse and some jeans. She grabbed a new bottle of ink and a new quill. She walked slowly out of the corridors and outside. Her favorite spot was under the big tree by the lake. She was always sitting there. As she headed over she noticed someone already sitting there and she furrowed a brow. Can she not have a place to herself to be alone?
Sighing she approached the guy and was struck by his hotness. Which made her instantly regret it. She had a boyfriend, even if they hadn't spoken in a while. Taking a steadying breath to keep her emotions in, she gave the boy a smile. "Hi. No offense but I usually sit here. Is it all right if I join you or do you want to be left alone?" She asked gently giving him a chance to say no amd that he wanted to be left alone. If he said that Lily would just say something nicely and walk away but she hoped this wasn't the case.

Landon slumped a little against the tree, just relaxing in the fresh air that came from being outside on a beautiful March day. He sighed softly and smiled as he opened his eyes to look around again. He was happy to have some free time after classes and before supper. He enjoyed having a little bit of free time because it meant that he would be able to focus better after supper. Once supper was over, he could do his homework without longing for more time outside. He wouldn't feel as trapped since he had gotten some time outside.

Landon looked up at the girl who approached, frowning a little when she said that he was in her spot. "I'm sorry, do you need your spot back?" he asked, genuinely concerned. He didn't want to be in the way of anyone. He stood up straighter, pulling back from leaning on the tree because he didn't want to be rude or take away her usual relaxation spot. "You can... I can go away if you want," he said softly. He didn't want her to feel like he was butting in and taking her spot on purpose. Landon ran a hand through his hair gently as he looked at the girl. He didn't want to be annoying or cause any frustration. He sighed and stuck his hands in his pockets.

Lily smiled at the boy and shook her head in an indication of no. "No need. Its completely all right." she said softly as she looked out over the lake. It was a beautiful day out and Lily didn't want to stop anyone from enjoying it. After all, you don't get many of these in Scotland. That's why she liked spending the days that are nice outside. Sometimes she was alone other times she wasn't. It depended on her mood and what she felt like at the time. A lot lately she had been wanting to be alone.
Lily glanced at Landon. He seemed...nervous maybe? Or upset. Lily sighed. "Its all right. This is a great spot to spend alone so I'll go. You're not in my way or anything." she said quietly glancing at him for a moment before looking away and saying quietly. "I'm Lily by the way. Lily Brown-McCoire." she gave him a smile before sitting at edge of the lake taking out her homework and starting to work on it, occasionally chewing on the end of her quill. She really should buy another one as this was the one she's had since she first came to Hogwarts. It was getting all ratty. At leats it still wrote well

Landon relaxed a little as the girl said he was okay staying where he was. He didn't want to be in anyone's way. He was always trying to keep the peace in general, though he was trying to get bolder about standing up for himself and those he cared about. Landon let himself lean back against the tree once she reassured him that he was okay where he was.

Landon shook his head and frowned a little. "You don't have to go either," he said. "If you want to stay, feel free," he added. Landon watched as she sat down. "Nice to meet you. I'm Landon. Landon Matthews," he said with a shy smile. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, relaxing a little more. He loved that he could hear the sounds of nature around them. It was nice to have a beautiful day here.

Landon let out a sigh and looked at Lily again. "What are you working on?" he asked curiously. "Unless you want me to shut up, in which case I can stay quiet," he added. He didn't want to annoy the girl. "I need to do homework, but I'm waiting until after supper because I wanted to enjoy some of this beautiful day first," he explained. He then went silent, not wanting to disturb her too much.

Lily glanced up at Landon when he said his name and she smiled. "That's a unique name. I love it!" She said happily and let herself watch him for a bit before looking away and going back down to her homework. She worked in quiet a little while as she finished up a couple of the questions. When he asked what she was working on, she glanced up again. "Defense Against the Dark Arts. It is one of my favorite subjects." She said. Lily shook her head softly when he said he could shut up. "No you're fine. Seriously. I am usually just as talkative." She nodded understandably as he said he wanted to wait after supper to do homework. "That's understandable. I like to get mine done right after classes so I have the rest of the night to hang out with my friends or brothers." Lily explained herself as she moved back a little so that they were sitting side by side. It was easier as she didn't want to have to keep bending her head to look at him. Because that was very uncomfortable. A breeze went through flipping her hair around a bit. She pulled her coconut-smelling hair back in a ponytail.

Landon smiled softly as Lily complimented his name. "Thank you," he said softly. "I like the name Lily too. It's pretty," he said kindly. He nodded when she said that Defense Against the Dark Arts was one of her favorite subjects. "My favorite is History of Magic," he admitted. "I know that's weird..." he said with a shrug. He got some weird looks when he admitted that he loved history. Most students found it boring, but Landon loved it so much. He loved seeing how history tended to repeat itself and that there were amusing things to discover in the past.

Landon hummed a little. "I'm not usually super talkative, but I felt awkward just standing here," he admitted. He went quiet again, not wanting to distract her from her work. He leaned back against the tree again, sighing contentedly. He really did love it when they had nice weather here. The grounds were so pretty in spring and it was getting nice out like spring was coming. "I suppose that's another way to do it," he observed as she explained that she liked to get her homework done right away so she could hang out with family or friends. "My sister and I are close, but not close enough to need to hang out much," he said with a laugh. He loved his twin, but she was very different from him. "She's a Slytherin and a bit intense."

Lily smiled as he too complimented her name. "Thank You." She said. When he said History of Magic was his favorite subject she inclined her head a bit. "To be honest it's interesting. Unfortunately I always mess the dates up or something and get a A or a D on it. One of my worst subjects." Lily shrugged. "My best is actually DADA and Astronomy. Herbology as well I have All O's." She gave him a small smile. "But HoM is definitely not my best subject." She nodded to his discussion of it being awkward to just stand there and She chuckled softly. "Trust me I know how that feels."
She nodded at him explaining how his sister and he was close but not too close and that his sister was a Slytherin. "My older brother and youngest brother are both in Slytherin. Colin and Lorcan. However, my other older brother and little sister are both in Ravenclaw. I am the only sibling in Gryffindor. " Lily explained putting her quill down and gazing towards the lake. She was a little lonely in her house without having any siblings but she didn't mind too much. At least Colin wasn't a Gryffindor. That would have been hilarious.

Landon frowned as Lily said that History of Magic was one of her worst subjects. "That's a shame. It really is quite interesting to see where different things came from, in my opinion. I enjoy the fact that history is pretty much set in stone, but things still need to be uncovered," he explained. Of course, history could change as more information was revealed through archaeology and documents and the like, but in general, what happened on a specific date is what happened on that specific date. "Sometimes I feel like my skills are better suited to not being magical," he said with a sigh. He loved being a wizard, but his loves were more books and research than wand waving.

Landon nodded as she explained her where her family members were in the school. "Big family," he observed. "I have another sister, but she's not in school yet," he explained. "She's really sweet. She has a few years before she comes here though." Landon had a feeling that his little sister would be a Hufflepuff as well. He had always thought he would be a Ravenclaw himself so it was a bit of a surprise to be sorted into Hufflepuff. He was happy there though. He enjoyed being a Hufflepuff.
