Now this is what he is living for! Leon would dodge out of the way as he looked over at a girl that had missed trying to hit him. He figured he could do with some instigating, but for the sake of it, he'll keep it light. "Hell yeah! This really is something for adrenaline junkies." He floated close to the girl that tried to hit him with a bludger. "You gotta do better than that.... Yeah, I don't know your name..." He rubbed the back of his neck before he zoomed off.
He looked over and seen a girl, the other teams Seeker, he thinks, reaching out. The snitch was too fast for him to see, but he figured if Seeker girl was reaching out to something, that would be it. The mischievous first year would fly by his other beater friend... Erm... Okay, he really needs to get to know everybody one of these days. Well anyways! It seemed the other girl had the same plan as him as they launched a bludger at the other teams Seeker.
To his disappointment, it was a swing and a miss. But there is much to be done, and he still has a lot of spunk and fire in him to keep going.

Though his attention was largely devoted to the match and individual performances, especially of those not already on sports teams, he managed to follow Lindsey’s words. He had not yet duelled the Hufflepuff team, but having moderated one match with them he thought he had a loose grasp on their strategy. Evade and outlast the opponents. Perhaps he was generalizing too much as it was very possible the strategy changed each match up but that is what he recalled. It was a risky strategy but done well could pay out dividends.
“I still regret not yet watching you duel,” Cassius said idly as a group of chasers and beaters zipped past the benches. “I will have to attend as a spectator before the year is out… For scouting purposes, of course,” he added with a cheeky grin. The Ravenclaw knew he should attend solely for those purposes, but really he would be there to watch and cheer on his friend. Unless she was duelling against Ravenclaw. That was the exception. He wanted a trophy for his house at the end of the year and as a captain it was his duty to ensure they got there.
The match continued as they chatted, Cassius nodding along. “Well, two years is still a short time. Who knows what our sixth year will have in store for us? Whatever it is, I hope it will be exciting.” Only three more years… In that moment, seated upon the bench, it felt like such a short time.
Her question brought him back to the present, blinking as he refocused on what was going on around him. “The captaincy? Ah, yes, stressful but quite fulfilling. I did not expect I would take to duelling but I find it quite an enjoyable endeavor. After all, what good is there knowing all these spells if we never get to practice and actually use them? It is our heritage, less we become more like the muggles.” That last word was said with just the slightest hint of derision.
“Really it has been an excellent mental exercise. Something to challenge myself beyond books,” he continued. “Tell me. On the topic of aspirations and possible futures, what do you foresee for your own? Have you put any consideration into what you might want to do after we graduate Hogwarts? If I had to hazard a guess I would say... healing?”

*.·:·.☽✧ ✦ ✧☾.·:·.*Assessing the state of things, Ruby decided on her next move. It was good to keep the other team on their toes and encourage them to play defensively instead of offensively by repeatedly inconveniencing them like this—knocking people off their brooms was certainly a significant inconvenience, after all. Ruby just had to pick a target… Two people sharing a broom meant that she would have the opportunity to try to get rid of both of them at the same time. Having made her decision, the Slytherin shot straight at them.
The pair of first years stood no chance against her. Firmly shoving them off the broom, Ruby watched with satisfaction as they fell. The boy was caught and remained in play, but that meant their team had had to have another Chaser dedicated to catching the fallen instead of focusing on the Quaffle. Hearing "Fifty points to Team 2!" in the background further confirmed that she had made the right decision with her action—her team’s other Chaser was handling the Quaffle game just fine.
Previously, Ruby had been either lucky or sneaky enough to have her foul go unnoticed, but that would not happen this time. Such an outcome was expected, though. Blatching was a lot less subtle, after all—it would have been hard to miss what had happened. "Ruby. Penalty lap." Smirking, Ruby just winked at Koko and began the lap without protest. With every action, there were trade-offs, costs weighed against the benefits. She would have preferred for both of the kids she knocked off the broom to have fallen to the ground, given that she was sacrificing precious time with this penalty lap, but she reckoned it had still been worth it.Action: As strategized | Mentions: @Koko RiddleReducioStats: Stamina: 9 | Evasion: 11 | Strength: 5 | Wisdom: 14 | Arcane Power: 11 | Accuracy: 15

Ability: Has an increased capacity. Can carry 3 people. May pick three skills. In the role of Chaser when you attempt to catch a passed Quaffle (such as when the Keeper has possession of the Quaffle and passes it to a teammate) you have advantage (meaning that it is rolled twice and you keep the better option) on attempts to catch if the opponent team attempts to intercept. In the role of Chaser, as a free action if the user of this broom is successful in the quafflegrab they can as a free action pass the Quaffle to another user in an attempt to score. There is a chance of the quaffle being intercepted, however due to the fact that the user is "so fast" with the quaffle this would be considered "surprising" and the attempt to score would be done at +3 accuracy by the player it was passed to in an attempt to score.
Note: The attempt to score would be an automatic attempt by the user that catches the passed quaffle. In the role of Chaser, if you have a contested quaffle grab and a contested strength roll between yourself and another user is in progress, unless they have the same broom, you would be the victor of the contested quaffle grab. In addition, rounds where you are successfully carrying the quaffle in an attempt to score, you only take half-damage from bludgers and blatching attempts.*.·:·.☽✧ ✦ ✧☾.·:·.*

If someone had told the young Hufflepuff months ago that she'd be here today, flying on a broom in a quidditch match, she would have called them a liar. Sure it was an unofficial match, but still. She was here defending the rings from the opposing side. My how things could change in a year.
Considering what had happened to the last keeper and others on the pitch, her stomach had been a tight ball of nerves since the moment she'd flown out and to the rings. After watching teammates and opponants both drop like flies, in total honesty, she was surprised that she was still on her broom.
Her position maintained, her eyes remained where it counted- on the quaffle. There was no way she was going to let one through he rings! At least that was what she told herself. Of course the bludgers stole some of her attention, as well. They were the most dangerous thing out here, aside from the witches and wizards controlling them. In either case, she took her position and prepared to spring to action. She refused to be caught unaware. Plus she really didn't feel like going to the hospital wing today.
"Let's go team 2!"

𝓐 broken rib - that probably made sense. She couldn't really feel it, but she was going to assume that this was due to the quality of Pericles' first aid, rather than a lack of veracity is in his assessment. She'd take a broken bone over a concussion any day; both could be easily fixed by the nurse, but she always worried with the latter that she was losing brain cells she really couldn't afford to lose. She could probably afford to lose a rib though, since she had like 24 of those bad boys.
It was kind of weird that so many players had broken ribs during this match, but not as weird as tons of things at Hogwarts were, so she let it go. Who knows, maybe there was some sort of cosmic joke about it, or something. Or maybe she was a little delirious from Nurse Pear's medical concoctions. Hard to say.
All things considered, she was in a surprisingly good mood for having been cast out of Quidditch heaven, which made it such a shame that Pericles' following question caused all the pleasant feelings inside of her to shrivel up and die. As another one of her teammates fell from her broom, Pericles cast an unfamiliar spell on her, causing her to slowly fall down to safety. And he wanted to know if she could cast the spell, too. So that she could help. Good practice, he said.
"No." She replied. "I don't know that spell." She wasn't sure whether it was taught in her year or not, but regardless, she certainly didn't know it. She might as well not know any spells, for all the good they were doing her. Even if Pericles were to try and patiently teach it to her right here on the pitch, he might as well be trying to teach a muggle for all the use that Bex would be. She was hardly a witch at all.
She was suddenly no longer feeling as inclined towards playfulness as she had been.
"Thanks for catching me, Pear. My ribs hurt, so I'm just going to lay here for awhile." She tilted her head back, attempting to find a comfortable angle to watch her team above her spend the round getting rather horribly trounced.

If the game continued like this it's over. We needed our Seeker to catch the snitch soon. I kicked off from the ground into the air. All the hard work in Flying class and those practices with Maverick paid off as I was able to control the broom well. Not as good as other students but enough. I think of myself as a clean player, but if I have to cheat to help my team win then I wouldn't hesitate. I feel kind of bad for March as she got out not by a bludger but by a cheating scum. It doesn't feel right. It doesn't feel fair. Life's not really fair is it. I feel like they should change the rules if you're caught cheating. Like in muggle sports. I really can't keep thinking about the past because right now, I've got a game to play. I needed full concentration. The whistle blew and I took off.WC:214/200 Mentions: @March Callister @Ruby Cazares

" Fuckin' bullies! " The young Slytherin watched as an older student had targeted him and March on their broom as he went plummeting downwards and Uly had readied himself to take a large hit against the pit of the Quidditch stadium. Without missing a beat, an older Hufflepuff swooped in and saved him, once again and with a loud thud and a wince from the pain, he looked over at the girl and offered a nod and a thanks. " I don't know why they keep targeting the FIRST YEAR, COWARDS. " Ulysses yelled out without any shame as all he could feel in the moment was fury and wanting to absolutely knock the other team onto the pit with some well-timed bludgers.
He took a breath to calm his otherwise boiling rage, gripping onto the girl's broom. " I'll take your lead. " His words were cut, irises already scanning the entire pit wanting to throw a punch at whatever idiot would decide to try and blatch them next. Was that in the rulebook, anyway? Who knew. Instead, he tried to see what else was going on but to no avail, he couldn't really tell if they were winning or losing — just that he kept getting slammed into.

The Quaffle
AngelFyre was a dedicated Chaser. She had skill! However, it seemed that luck was not on her side today. Maybe the Quaffle was still wet from the earlier drizzle. Whatever the case, she did not score once. Koko sympathised immensely, having dealt with this time and time again, and she hoped it did not deter AngelFyre from experiencing more of the wonderful sport that was Quidditch.
Miss Nellie Lam, however, was doing a wonderful job with Keeping. Koko might congratulate her later. If she ever joined Hufflepuff's Quidditch team, Koko hoped it was after she graduated.
She did notice Simon begin to move across the field. Oh, yay! Only the best Keepers could play both as a Chaser and as a Keeper, and she smiled to herself as she watched Simon immediately score twice. How impressive! Koko found herself leaning forward and clapping. She wasn't cheering for either team, necessarily; no, she was a very unbiased referee, or so she thought. But she knew how to appreciate talent.

The overcast skies made the moment more intense. Maybe Koko was just imagining the dramatic music in her head, though. Probably.
Raizel, having already caught wind of the Snitch, dove almost impeccably. She went without any defenders as she entered a tight spiral dive, a classic move for Seekers, and her hand stretched out, capturing the golden orb almost easily.
Poor Astra must have seen it as Raizel was diving, or maybe right before, Koko wasn't sure. All she knew was that it must have been awful to have been searching for so long only to have the Snitch caught so quickly.
- Rolls:
ReducioDisclaimers:- since any lovely creatures present are benched, the +2 to dcs is not in effect this round.
- the number rolled on the d20 is the first number in any math.
Astra is searching.

Astra finds the Snitch.
Raizel is attempting to catch the Snitch with a Spiral Dive, giving her advantage on the roll.
d20: 3, 19 + 13 = 32 -> success!
Raizel catches the Snitch ─ 150 points to Team 1 & game over.
Beaters and bludgers really put the itch in Quidditch ─ specifically, the itch for violence. The craving, the thirst for blood.
Call her melodramatic, but after participating in so many Quidditch games and hardly ever being targeted by bludgers, Koko wasn't necessarily desensitised to the game's violence. She saw iron balls hurled at tiny children, and she wrinkled her nose slightly. What!? It looked painful.
Not all of them were tiny, though. Ruby was actually quite a bit taller than Koko, although Koko was sure that if the bludger had hit her friend, it would have hurt quite a bit. However, Ruby darted out of the way quite easily, still going about her penalty lap while doing so. Seniority really did have its benefits sometimes. Koko was certain such a dodge had to be due to experience.
Raizel, who was younger, was not so lucky, or skilled, whichever it might be. Something might have changed in the atmosphere. Maybe the wind had slowed down near Ophelia and Leon. Whatever the case, they teamed up to hit the bludger at the second-year with such confidence that it had no choice but to hit her. The girl somehow held onto her broom, but the hit was definitely a solid one. Any less sturdy, and she would likely have fallen off.

Team 2 was really enforcing stereotypes. Koko had noticed that there were more Slytherins on Team 2 than Team 1. Coincidence? Maybe. But Slytherins did have a reputation for cheating, even if, in Koko's experience, the Slytherin Quidditch team didn't cheat all that much. They only cheated when it was absolutely called for.
Maybe this was called for. Koko guessed it was somewhat understandable, especially considering the panic one might feel when a Seeker was about to catch the Snitch. Renelle hurtled towards Raizel, hands outstretched, and her attempt was very successful. Raizel would fall, the Snitch still fluttering in her hand, and she would be caught by Alejandro Garcia. You couldn't keep a successful Seeker down, could you?
Colin McCoire had also had blatching in his mind. He didn't head for Raizel, though, instead zooming towards Alyssea and Ulysses. Remembering his accuracy from earlier, Koko braced to see a solid hit, but everything happened so quickly. Even though Colin seemed focused, Alyssea and Ulysses moved in tandem and evaded almost instantly. Wow.
'...Penalty lap for Renelle Dalton and Colin McCoire. Come on, cheating isn't cool.'
Koko's voice would hold a note of amusement. She wasn't really mad... but it was her job as a prefect, Quidditch captain and upper-year to profess that cheating was, in fact, not cool.
'With that,' she added, 'the game is over. Congratulations to Team 1, and I hope you all had fun! Feel free to stick around if you'd like to chat with me or anyone else, but if you're tired or just want to leave, that's fine, too.'
She took out her wand and waved it, and as quietly as she could, she said, 'Finite Incantatem.' I rolled for it in a personal server, d20: 4 + 7 (+3 from silver arrow) -> 14 > WDC 11. If anyone was curious, I rolled for the sonorus at the beginning in the same personal server and got a nat 20. Hence her flinching.
Koko would guide her Silver Arrow back to the ground, and she would hop off and make conversation to anyone who had any questions, comments or concerns. After that... Well, she had a bit of a surprise she would owl the winners later.
- Rolls:
Reduciodisclaimers- Simon Kincaid's unsettling aura is not in use so does not affect any offensive plays.

❂《 ⌜ February 10, 2024 ▎ 14:00 ⌟▛▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔If she knew she was gonna end up playing at least one game of Quidditch at some point in her life, Raizel should’ve given the manual at least a couple of readings just to familiarize herself with the techniques used within the game. Maybe then she would be able to pull off some sick moves that’ll help her in catching the snitch or in this case, know what exactly she is doing. She’s no Quidditch player, she’s no expert in riding a broom either but that didn’t seem to stop her from pulling off a spiral dive without even knowing it.
There was only one thing in her mind during that time, catching that snitch no matter what. Her teammates are falling one after another and who knows when will she be next with her grasp inching slowly towards that fluttering golden ball right before her. It was only natural that someone would be targeting her this round.
Go big or go home.
And so, she went in, full dive towards the snitch, discarding any form of defensive strats. That snitch will be hers, no matter what, not just for her sake, but for her team as well. If this game goes for too long, soon enough, the skilled and older folks from the other team will eat them up, one by one considering the tactics they are using, even resorting to cheating.
With her completely in the zone, the soaring bludger going for her had caught her off guard and only noticed it when it was just a couple of distance away. She couldn’t stop nor could she move out of its way. She was going too fast to make any other move than chase the snitch. The impact would’ve been enough to knock her off of her broom if only she wasn’t that stubborn. Her grip was firm, surprisingly enough for someone on the verge of losing consciousness and probably has a couple of broken bones somewhere in her body and so is her hold on that golden ball that she just caught.
Their opponents sure want her down though because even after that successful bludger hit and perhaps the snitch being in her hands already, she still finds herself being a target of another attack. They sure aren’t giving her a break. It was due to sheer luck that she even managed to stay on her broom after that devastating initial attack so she wasn’t expecting to survive this one. Despite the pain, the Gryffindor still managed to chuckle and grin as her body descended. “Kind of late for that if you ask me…”
Perhaps she wasn’t that unlucky after all as someone just managed to grab her before she could even hit the ground. So she barely survived till the very end… that’s new. “Great catch.” Raizel gave her savior a pat on the back as soon as she repositioned herself on the broom of her teammate using her remaining strength. “Guess that means this Seeker lives… despite everything.” If only it wasn’t that painful to laugh or even talk right now, she would be doing so because of how ridiculous this game had turned out. The moment that they would reach the ground, this girl would be lying down on that soft grass to finally catch her breath. Everyone sure did a good job hanging on despite how rough it was. Now then, someone should get her broom for her, she can't at this anymore.

Snitches and Stitches

The game had become really close! Colin didn't have any time to watch the game, but his keen eyes caught sight, not of the snitch but of its pursuer. Rai. Well known to Colin for her many visits to the hospital wing, he managed to sneak a couple glances her way. From his vantage it looked like she took a bludger! Oof. That was going to hurt for sure! And then suddenly she began to fall!
But Colin had to turn away. He had other quarry to chase down! Colin turned Vailerama around and dove towards Aly and Uly. He picked up speed as he and his Comet flew towards the ground. The plan was to knock out two of their opponents. In one go! Colin was no heavy-weight, and so wasn't entirely certain he could even do it. He just shrugged. Speed would balance out weight, surely!
As he closed in, he heard a distant bell. Not once, but twice! He could only hope --- briefly --- that the scores were for his own team. But Koko's over loud voice called out twenty points for Team One! Oh well! There was nothing for it! Colin was almost on top of his target, on silent approach! Just as he prepared to kick sideways, hoping to scoop both of them at once, they disappeared!
Uly --- gone!
Aly --- gone!
Colin slid sideways into empty air! He could see Aly zooming off to somewhere, mere moments before he had her off her broom! Colin now had to fight against gravity to right himself before smashing into the pitch. "Penalty lap for Renelle Dalton and Colin McCoire. Come on, cheating isn't cool."
As Colin twisted around, he reacted out of frustration: "Aw come on Koko! I didn't even touch them!" Well, hit or no, he knew that that when the ref called a penalty, there was no sense in putting off her judgement. The faster he could zip around the pitch, the better! Maybe next time, he'd try to blatch someone behind Koko's back!
Colin dove for the pitch and began his penalty lap. From here, down below, he had a pretty good line of sight. He could see AngelFyre cheering like mad high above. His first thought was that she must have scored those two goals --- but he knew better. She would have taken her own goals in stride, but Colin knew at least a part of Fyre's heart. She would cheer like crazy for her Simon! Just as Colin would Clair!
Turning back towards his lap, he caught sight of Rai again. Amazingly, still alive! She wasn't falling after all! She was diving! And what a dive it was --- Colin knew the bad news instantly. Rai had seen the snitch and was chasing after it! Of course, he would rather Ginger Snaps catch it, but that wasn't to be. Colin wasn't quite sure if he should continue his penalty lap as Koko called the game. He shrugged and smiled for AngelFyre.
Colin zipped around the last of his penalty lap and flew over to congratulate his friends --- on both teams.
