Gathering of the clouds PV Aedion Sorrengail

Growing up on a farm was amazing for a girl like Lithaen. She enjoyed helping her parents, learning about gardening and about animals. Her parents prefered not to go to the stores that often, so they lived mainly self-sufficient. They had their own garden with veggies, their own cow for milk and chickens for eggs. They did eat meat, however, it wasn't their own. Once a week her father went hunting with her or one of her brothers to gather some meat. Some people thought this was cruel, but to Lithaen it was quite normal.

Lithaen was already eager to show Aedion her home. Perhaps he could visit her and her parents when she left for home! Or she could visit him! She just really missed being around someone her age. She really missed Chaol. And she thought - she didn't know any better - that Aedion could be the one to fill the giant empty space in her heart. She just hoped they could be as close as she was with Chaol.

For now they seemed to have a lot in common. They just connected and she figured she could talk about anything with him.
"Really!? It does fit you. You're so COOLIO!" She smiled brightly. "My favourite artist is Kate Bush! Do you know her?" Without any explanation she burst out into a dance.

"Out on the wily, windy moors
We'd roll and fall in green
You had a temper like my jealousy
Too hot, too greedy!" she sang.

"I love singing," she said, after she finished. "Oh, that's probably a good thing, isn't it? And now that you discovered you might be lonely you found a new bff!" She smiled. "Just in time to let you explore the castle and the world! From now on, we're in this together!"
She nodded. "I can imagine it's something you don't miss, if you don't know any better." Now she sighed. "It is horrible. He was the absolute best. I miss him so much." She sighed again.
"Bestest bestiest!" she repeated after him, while taking his pinkie. "For ever and ever and ever! And now we're going to EAT!"

Today was going to be a great day. Aedion just knew it! However, it all was rather scary, too. He knew that they were not supposed to be out here like this, but Lithaen had promised him some more adventure which he was pretty excited about. It wasn't like he was boring, but he just never had the right people to go on adventures. Lithaen, however, had caught his interest right away and knew how to pursuade him to open up his adventurous side. After all, Aedion was still young and even though he was here at Hogwarts to learn all there was to know about magic, he also wanted to just be a child every now and then.

Talking about Muggle music and books with Lithaen was a welcome subject. He could talk about his favourite bands for hours and hours. A big smile was on his face as she was singing Kate Bush. After she'd finished, he clapped excitedly.
"My mother is a big Kate Bush fan," he explained, "so I know all about her! Well, not all, but I've heard her songs probably a thousand times while my mom was dancing bearfeet in our garden." He chuckled at the thought of his mother and couldn't help but miss her a little. Luckily there was lots of distraction!

"A new best friend," he sighed dreamily. "That's just great! What have been the coolest places in the castle you've been to?" he asked her curiously. Surely she must've seen places Aedion didn't even know about!
"Exactly, but now I can catch up on everything." He grinned and took out his bag which was filled with all sorts of candy, cookies and other stuff. "I get that you miss him. Did he look a lot like you?" he wondered aloud. It wasn't necessary that they would've been exact copies of each other.
Aedion pulled out a bag of cauldron cakes and a bottle of pumkin juice. "Yes, let's eat!" he agreed with her as he put down a blanket and sat down on it. "I figured this might be more comfortable." He grinned, handed her a cauldron cake and took a big bite out of his own.

Even though Chaol and Lithaen were fraternal twins, they looked very much identical. Of course, he was a boy and she was a girl, but especially when they were younger and didn´t have much hair, they were pretty much the same. Red hair, brown eyes and loads of freckles. They sometimes even got mixed up as a child. Once Lithaen had cut her long hair to pretend she was Chaol and everyone bought it. When they grew older and her hair got longer, they had fewer similarities, but people outside their family still had a hard time to get their names right.

Aedion didn´t look like Chaol at all. That wasn´t the reason he reminded him of her diseased twin. His character, however, was. very similar to Chaols. And apparently she had some similarities with his mom!
"Really?" she gasped. "That's so cool! I also like dancing barefeet to her songs!" A wide smile appaered on her face. "Your mom sounds great! I bet I'm going to LOVE her!" She smiled and then wiggled her eyebrows up and down.

"It really is!" she admitted, also very dreamily. "Erm.. I love the grounds, especially being near the Magical Creatures, and I love this tower and I love the Great Lake.. AND I'd love to go to the forbidden forest someday! What about you? What do you like best so far?"
She stared with big eyes at his bag filled with candy. "They're all screaming my name," she said, pointing to the candy. "And yes, Chaol looked very much like me. With shorter hair and a boy-face, but still.. When we were younger, people got us mixed up all the time." She giggled at the memory.
"Thank you!" she said as she joined him on the blanket. "It is." She took a bite of her cake and smiled. "Do you want to join a club or a sport team eventually? Duelling, broom racing, quidditch?" she wondered.

Sometimes Aedion would wonder what it would be like if he would have had a brother or sister. Growing up in a lonely environment could've made it a lot more enjoyable. However, Aedion didn't really feel like he was all that lonely until he got here at Hogwarts. It was good to get to know his fellow students. There were some people he didn't like too much. Some of them were too dark to his liking or too rude at times. Others were a bit strange, even though he was usually a type of person who'd say it was good to be different. Unfortunately that didn't go all the way!

Thinking about his parents made him very happy at this current moment. Aedion loved his parents so much. Their relationship was rather special, to say the least. His mother would take him out for different things than his dad would, but they both taught him some very special things!
"And you also like animals, right? My mother works with all sorts of magical beasts, it's quite interesting to be honest." A smile appeared on his face. "She has some at home, but the most special ones are at her work place. She works at a reservation centre. Have you heard of those? Maybe you two have more in common! Do you know what you wanna do when you grow up?" he asked her. He himself wasn't quite sure of it all. It was too overwhelming and he didn't even know what he was good at yet!

He listened to Lithaen while he was chewing his cauldron cake. If he wouldn't be careful, he would eat way too many of them in one sitting!
"Oh!" he exclaimed, "The forbidden forest sounds a little scary if I am being entirely honest." A blush came on his face. "Especially because, supposedly, there are acromantulas living there. Can you imagine how big they are!?" He shuddered at the thought. "I haven't been to many places yet, but this is my favourite thing so far. Being here at the Astronomy tower." He giggled, although it felt a bit silly to not have as many stories to tell as Lithaen.
"Oh, help yourself! If you want anything, just take it. I brought it here for the both of us and, most importantly, to be eaten." He put his bag in between them so they could both reach it properly. "Really? I think I would've liked Chaol then. Do you think he would've been a Gryffindor too?" he wondered while smiling at her. At her question, he nodded. "Yes, definitely! I might want to join the duelling team eventually, but not just yet. It's way too early in the schoolyear for me. What about you? You seem like a Quidditch type of girl."

Lithaen loved being reckless. She enjoyed living on the edge. Sometimes even literally, when she felt drawn to the edge of a beautiful mountain, just to see what was beneath. She was too curious for her own good, her mother always told her. And even though her parents both had been Gryffindors, they always mentioned their children were worse. Her brothers, both Gryffindors, were as reckless as she was. Maybe even worse. It wouldn’t surprise anyone if they would get expelled someday. Lithaen was a bit more careful. She remembered all the letters her parents got when she lived at home.

More than once her parents had sent her brothers an howler. Azriel and Cassian, as they were named, had caused so much trouble! She and Chaol always tried to hide in a dark spot to listen to their parents, while they discussed their worries about Azriel and Cassian. And honestly, the howlers they sent them were just so funny!
“I do!” she mentioned. “And of course I have heard of them! That’s so COOL! I’m so jealous! She’s the best! Isn’t she? My parents too, but your mom.. I think she is what I want to be when I grow up!” She hadn’t even met the woman, but that didn’t really matter to the young Gryffindor. “I want to work with magical creatures. Or become a Quidditch Player! The BEST!”

She took the last bite of her cake and smiled. “What about you?” she asked with her mouth full of cake.
“Do they scare you? Acromantulas? Or spiders in general? I don’t find them scary, actually, though I didn’t dare to walk near the forest when I saw a mouse.” She looked at him in disgust, as if she was talking about a horrible creature instead of a tiny mouse.
“Mine too,” she then admitted. “I like being here with you, my best friend.” She grinned and looked at him. She would, of course, help herself. Eating was what she liked best. “Thank you!” she said, while grabbing another piece of candy.
“I’m sure you would have,” she said. “I think he’d be in Ravenclaw. Perhaps Slytherin.. Just like you. He was very, very smart.” A sadly sigh escaped her mouth. “I think you’ll be a great duellist. I’ll cheer for you! And yes, Quidditch it is! I hope I can apply for the team soon!”

There were endless possibilities at Hogwarts for pretty much every student. As long as you were willing to work hard for it, anything was possible. At this very moment Aedion was mostly trying to find out what his favourite subjects were. There were too many to choose from, but he figured out he had a liking to Herbology and Potions so far. He had always been really interested in Herbology, probably because his parents were into everything that had to do with nature. Well, mostly his mother.

In one of the upcoming holidays they could see each other in Diagon Alley, London or perhaps even in Hogsmeade. His parents had taken him there a few times before to go to some of the shops. It could be fun to meet up there, too. Then Lithaen could meet his parents and he could meet hers. They had shared so many stories already, it was only natural to meet them too.
"They're all right," he said with a slight smile. "But I guess everyone says that about their own parents." He shrugged and took a sip of his pumkin juice, which was quite refreshing after all the talking!

He nodded eagerly. "Oh yes, they scare me a lot! Do you know how big they are!? I am positive everyone is scared of them. If you're already scared of a tiny mouse, surely you gotta be scared of an Acromantula?" He giggled at the thought, because he just couldn't imagine it.
Their talk about all the future possibilities was amazing. He felt like he would be her biggest cheerleader if she were to become a Quidditch player.
"Where did you find your love for Quidditch?" he wondered. "And can you even join a team in the first year here? I haven't been paying much attention to Quidditch, because I have a hard time staying on a broom as it is. Pathetic, isn't it?" He rolled his eyes at her because he couldn't believe himself!

March was such a fickle month. It was the seam between winter and spring. A seam between the cold of January and the warmth of the summer. It always felt restless. Lithaen always felt restless. She never knew what to expect until she stepped outside. When she decided to wear a cloak it soon became too hot, when she decided not to wear a cloak, it was too cold. However, some people, especially people who enjoyed the summer over the winter, ran outside as soon as the sun showed her face. They ran outside in nothing more than a t-shirt and shorts. Lithaen had never understood them.

Lithaen sat on the blanket besides Aedion. Beneath their feet, a pile of candy. Lithaen couldn't stop looking at the candy, her stomach growling.
"Not everyone!" she said mysteriously. "I knew a girl and her mothers neighbors friend of a friend of the family of her teacher once said she hated her parents." Lithaen couldn't imagine saying something like that about her parents. She adored them! "That's ridiculous isn't it?" she exlaimed. "I love my parents. They're the absolute best! What are your parents like?"

She grabbed another piece of candy and another one and another one. She was quick as a sparrow, even when she was eating. Or maybe especially then.
"I know! And I think so.. I'm not sure, as I'm usually not afraid of spiders." She smiled ant continued talking right away. "Which is a good thing, because this way I can protect you from spiders and you can protect me from evil mouses and rats."
She chuckled and shrugged. "My father was a Quidditch player. Now he's old, but he was amazing. He now works at the Ministry of Magic, at the Department of Magical Games and Sports." Once again a smile appeared on her face. "And I don't know yet. My parents want me to focus on my classes first. What do you want to do when you grow up?" she wondered. "Do you want me to teach you how to fly? I'm sure I'll be a great teacher."

Aedion still remembered the first day he set foot in Hogwarts. He had been extremely nervous and was beyond overwhelmed. The first few minutes he got overwhelmed by ghosts and other students, all the floating candles and the nerves running through his system. His heart had been pumping out of his chest when he walked into the Great Hall for the sorting ceremony, but he quickly noticed he wasn't the only one.

The sorting ceremony itself had been exciting, too. He wasn't sure where he would belong to: Slytherin or Ravenclaw had seemed the logical answers, but they were drastically different in a lot of ways. Aedion decided the hat would get it right. When he sat down and the hat had exclaimed "SLYTHERIN" quicker than he expected, he knew this would be his destiny.
"Really? Well, I guess not everyone is kind like our parents?" He shrugged. "My parents are amazing. My dad looks like a tough guy, but that's mostly on the outside. On the inside he is really sweet and smart! But my mom is maybe even smarter. She works as a magiezoologist and as a herbologist, by the way. My dad's an Auror!" He grinned broadly.

Aedion, too, was eating some more of his cauldron cake. It was already a great night so far, although he was still a little scared about what might happen. What if a teacher or prefect would catch them? At the moment they weren't breaking any rules yet - it was still early, but the further the night progressed, it would become more risky.
"That sounds like a great thing," he said, nodding at her. "I'll protect you from mouses and rats! I wanted one as a pet here at Hogwarts, but I haven't decided yet. Maybe I can get one later this year. And I don't think you'll appreciate me much if I get a rat or mouse. Do you have a pet? You seem like a cat-person."
She talked about her parents and it was amazing to hear her dad being a Quidditch player in the past. No wonder she wanted to follow his footsteps! "Wow, that is so cool! And you wanna be an important player as well? What position was your dad playing? A seeker!? And what do you want to be?" He was firing questions at her. "Focussing on your studies are important. I'll do that too! But when I'm old, I wanna be an Auror I think. Or maybe work at the Ministry. You? And yes, please give me some more flying practice. I need it!"

Her best childhood memories were the Quidditch matches her father played. She just couldn’t get enough of the adrenaline and all the excitement she felt when she saw her father on a broom. To Lithaen he still was the best Quidditch player ever, though he wasn’t as good as he used to be. She was probably his biggest fan and she always would be. Because of him Lithaen wanted to become a Quidditch player, though she enjoyed taking care of animals too.

She was a true Gryffindor. Therefore she didn’t doubt for a moment when the hat was placed on her head. And she was right: only a few moments later she walked over to the Gryffindor tables to sat down beside her two older brothers.
“No, maybe not. Guess we’re lucky then!” She smiled. “They sound perfect,” she admitted. “What is their meet cute?” she wondered. “That’s how they met, but meet cute sounds coolio!” She smiled brightly. “What kind of creatures she works with?”

Once again they made a deal. Firstly they agreed to be best friends for ever and now they agreed to protect each other from their fears. “Really?” Her eyes got wide. “As a pet? Such a monster?” She shrugged. “Not yet! My parents are buying me a cat when I improve my schoolwork. We do have some cats at home, but I’d like one for myself. Maybe like the one of the Disney film, Aristocats. Do you know Disney? Do you want to have a pet? What do you want?” She had so many questions to ask!
He too had some questions to ask and she smiled. “Nope, a chaser! A very good one! I’d like to be a chaser too, or a seeker.”
An Auror would be the perfect job for someone like Aedion. “I reckon you will be the best Auror the UK ever had.” She giggled. “A quidditch player, DUH! Or magiezoologist.” She patted him on his shoulder. “Will do! No worries!”

Back home they had all sorts of animals but when Aedion begged his parents for a pet to take with him to Hogwarts, they weren't all that keen. This confused him greatly, since he had learned everything about all sorts of animals: what they were like and how to take care of them for example. How could they possible think it wasn't a good idea to take one with him!? The only thing he could think of was the fact that his parents perhaps didn't think he deserved it just yet.

This was partly the reason why he was doing his best at school. It was motivation beyond measure for the young Slytherin boy that he could have a rat, or perhaps an owl or cat, all for himself!
"We're very lucky," he agreed with her and took another sip of pumpkin juice. "My dad helped my mom in his job as an Auror and they seemed to hit it off right away. Don't know much of it though, I might need to ask them about it. What about your parents? Do you know much about their first meeting?" Until now, Aedion had never thought about his parents meeting.

Her reaction about his possible pet rat made him smile. He could've expected it after hearing about her hate for the rodent creatures. "I should've known! Well, then if I value our friendship I don't think I should take a rat. Although, you might change your opinion after meeting a cuddly cute rat!" He put his vinger to his chin while thinking, then shrugged as he was still torn in this decision. Luckily he still had plenty of time!
"Ah, yes! I've heard of that movie. Though I've never seen it. I did see some pictures of the cats, so I know which one you're talking about and I think a fluffy cute cat like that will suit you perfectly!" He nodded to her and then rumbled in his bag to find some more candy. There was even some Muggle candy here, which was always pretty tasty.
"You really think that?" he asked her with large eyes, kind of like a house elf. "Hah, I should've known! You can be a great chaser, but you're also small like a good seeker. So who knows what your future holds, little lion!"
