She listened to Hannah talk about her hatred of Astronomy. She couldn't agree or disagree, she didn't love Astronomy, it was a bit boring and not as entertaining as most of her other classes. She didn't see as much of a use for it as some of her classes, but she didn't think it was entirely useless. She simply nodded and said 'yeah' as Hannah talked about Astronomy.

Hannah suggested they go over to the tree and talk, saying it wouldn't be as boring as it sounded."Sure, that sounds nice." Madi agreed, and followed her over to the tree. She found a good place to sit and sat down near Hannah.

"Really? So am I! I've been dying to have it, it sounds really interesting." She smiled, glad to have something in common with Hannah.

Hannah stood up and asked Madi to race around the Great Lake. Before she could say yes, Hannah counted off and began running. "Hey! Not fair!" Madi yelled, half laughing, and took off running. She was determined to beat Hannah. She was extremely competitive, especially when it came to running. She ran as fast as could, trying to catch up. She wasn't far behind. She overtook Hannah, but not by much.

Her grin was wide as she heard Madi's words. She did not know if Madi agreed, but it felt good to tell her. And if she did not like it.. it would be something else of the things they had in common.

They walked over to the tree and Hannah commented on their third year subjects. She smiled widely. "Oh my gosh! Yes that's what I was thinking! I think I will like it a lot! What about divination? I don't think I'll sign up for it, seems boring.." she said. It was nice to find someone who had so many things in common with her.

Hannah then started braiding her own hair, but then stopped and then...

Then the race began. Madi said something about Hannah having a head start wasn't fair, but... she just laughed. "Of course it's fair!" she shouted. The girl was still in the lead, and she was usually fast, so she hoped Madi wouldn't catch up. She knew racing was rather fun, and she used to run around at home, but she never raced. Well, racing on feet was fun, but broom racing.. not quite Hannah’s style.

The girl continued running and then she looked behind her, Madi was catching up. The converses didn’t help at all, but she continued running, gasping for air. She knew that she could and would do it.

"I know! I can't wait." Madi beamed. "No, divination sounds full of- anyway, it seems extremely unlikely to get your future perfectly right. And then you might be waiting for something that'll never happen or think your life will be something it won't because of one false prediction." Madi said. "I respect Seers, I think what they can do is really amazing and really cool and useful, and they can do it extremely well. But for students, most of who aren't Seers, it seems really easy to make a false prediction." she clarified. "So, I guess no, I'm not going to take it." she half-smiled.

And then they were running. "Well, I'm going to beat you anyway so I guess it doesn't really matter!" she laughed as she gasped for air. She pushed herself further, she was so close to Hannah. She remembered racing her cousins at her grandmother's house when she was younger. She'd always win, and would watch her cousins finish. After they all were done, they'd collapse in the grass and laugh, watching the clouds and talking.The trip had always been the highlight of the summer and the thing she looked forward to most every year.

She pulled in front of Hannah for a second before Hannah took the lead again. She went into a full sprint and got in front of Hannah, laughing and looking back at her.

Hannah understood what Madi said and definitely agreed with her. She showed her approval by nodding. "I agree. Well, I think it's a little stupid to be honest, because you can't just poof and then tell the future, unless you're a seer and get a vision, then that's telling the truth. I wont be taking it. No offence, just my opinion." she said with a smirk. Hannah respected her opinion and highly agreed, you couldn't just tell the future, since it could be a false prediction, well unless you were an actual seer.

Then, there was the race. Madi said something about her winning, Hannah didn't think so, she was desperate to prove her new friend that she wasn't going to win. "Well, I don't think you are going to win. You don't need a seer to prove that I am." she said, smirking.

Madi sprinted and then she pulled herself in front of Hannah. The girl seemed like she knew how to race and had done it before, but so did Hannah.

When she was younger, after she finished homeschooling, she went outside and ran around with her dogs, by herself. She'd always end up sweaty and it was so much fun. She cherished every moment of it and she loved doing it. It was the highlight of her afternoon.

On weekends, sometimes she'd spend the whole day running around, catching butterflies and playing. She'd never really traveled on weekends, but she heard from her father that they'd bought a cabin, a very big, four story cabin, for holidays, weekends and Summer. Hannah was excited for it, her parents had gotten a lot of things since her mother found out about the baby.

Then, the girl pushed herself more and got a lead, she was now in front of Madi. "Guess you aren't gonna win after all, are you?" she said, mockingly. Then, she got to end and won, all sweaty.

"Definitely." Madi agreed. She found it interesting how she and Hannah had such similar opinions on classes.

She kept pushing herself, determined to win the race. She didn't look back at Hannah, thinking it would slow her down if she turned. But soon it was impossible not to look at Hannah as she pulled straight in front of Madi. She made a comment about how Madi wasn't going to win, and she chose not to respond, knowing she wouldn't win. The end was so close, and Hannah was just about there.

Sure enough, Hannah made it to the end before Madi did. A few seconds later, Madi made it too. She stood at the imaginary finish line, panting and hot. She looked at the lake, wanting badly to jump in and cool off. She loved swimming after a run. But she knew it wasn't allowed, so instead she found another option. She walked over to the grass, panting, and laid down in it. It was cool, and she loved it. Her hair was splayed out in all different directions on the grass and she probably had grass stains on her clothes, but she didn't care. She looked over at Hannah. "You're a really good runner." she complimented Hannah. "That was a good race." she said.

Then, all she knew was that she'd won. That also meant that she was tired and very, very sweaty, and she smelled really, really badly. Like onions and rotten tomatoes had a baby. A shower seemed like the best option.

"God. I'm so tired and everything hurts." she said looking up at the sky. And then she looked at Madi. "Thank you, you know, you're a good runner too." she smiled

Hannah knew she smelled bad so she needed to get going. Plus, she also had homework, which she was actually hoping to forget about, but she remembered it now. She liked to do homework as she possibly, so that she could have extra time to do more things, like hanging out with her friends or in the library.

"Hey, is your name Madi, or like Madison or something? Is it like a nickname or your real name?" she asked, curiously. Sometimes, she heard names echo through the great halls and she wondered if they were names or nicknames, and Madi's name, well maybe it was a nickname, made her confused.

"Anyways, I do have to go. But, I'll see you around, okay? We can maybe hang out or something." she smiled, whilst grabbing her things and leaving to go into the castle, which kind of seemed bigger then when she had left.

Madi laughed. "I'm scared to get up." she knew that was when all the pain would come. "Of course! Thanks." Madi said. She definitely needed a shower. To get the grass and sweat off her. But she couldn't bring herself to stand up. She knew the classic hip pain would come.

Madi smiled at Hannah's question. She'd gotten it multiple times. Kids wondered if her name was Madelyn or Madison all the time. Madi was really more of a nickname. "Nope, Madi is my real name." she explained. She sometimes wondered why her parents hadn't chosen one of those names for her and then called her Madi, but she never asked.

"Yeah, maybe! See you around." she smiled back at Hannah, who grabbed her stuff and began walking to the castle. Madi got up too and headed off. She really did need to shower.
