With a nervous smile he nodded. ”Yeah... yeah...”, he mumbled as he tried to collect his mind to cast the spell again It seemed to be a rather tough one. It was taught in second year after ll, which must mean it had some kind of difficulty a first year would have problems to master it in an easy way. Well... spells generally were difficult when they had to counter anything, especially with how they had to counter another persons spell.

Alan was not sure how, he had done it the last time on the second try, but when he casted the spell this time it failed again. That was fine... He glanced at Alex to see if maybe he was just super good at keeping control over his spell, the Lumos Charm. His wand casted a small light, dimmed by the bright environment. After all it was still daylight so his spell was not the most useful at the moment; yet it was an easy one so probably he had it easy to keep control over the spell, making Alan narrow his eyes in competitive determination. However it was still in a light mood as he raised his wand again.

He huffed in annoyance when the next two tries to cast the spell failed once again, once he even felt the backlash of the spell, like a wind blowing against him, making his footing unsteady. The second year bit his lip, when he saw the professor looking over at them and wondered what to do at ths moment. He glanced at the blackboard where the professor had written the instructions on it with white chalk.

”This is difficult”, he muttered before he closed his eyes for a few seconds. When he rapidly opened them he casted the spell once again. ”FINITE INCANTATEM”, he was losing the interest and stopped overthinking that spell and right there he succeeded, as his mind had stopped focusing on what could go wrong.

When the wand's light extinguished all the frustration was wiped off his face in an instant and he let out a happy laugh, ”Finally! Sorry that it took so long...”
