Alice looked around her, smiling at the comfort of finding all her friends. The coldness of the weather had done nothing to stop her family business from keeping going, although now they had more hot chocolate like drinks instead of frozen ones. One of her best friends, Charlie, was in the front of the line. She smiled and held out a hot chocolate for him, then stepped away for a second to privatly talk to him. "Charlie..." She started, knowing the news she was about to say would be terrible. "I-I'm not going to be able to go to middle school with you guys. I'm being forced to go to a boarding school and I don't even know where it is! I...I'll write every day. Write, because apparently phones don't work there. I'll find a way though, I'll stay in contact." After dropping that bombshell, she sighed and looked into his eyes, needing to see he was fine with all of this. Charlie was looking very sad and annoyed at her parents, but it would be fine. After being besties for nearly their whole life, they could basically tell what the other was thinking. And Charlie was suddenly looking slightly happier for some strange reason. He did strange things all the time, but this one bothered me. Why would he be smiling at a time like this? But he took my hand and smiled, and I could see hope in his eyes. What was going on?
"Al. I'm being forced to go to a boarding school as well. It's some...um...one for people with...people with my skills." Well that was weird. Why was he acting so much stranger than usual? We all know he's a talented guy. Most people in New York are at least slightly talented in some way. Alice shook her head and got back to working the counter. After all, he couldn't be the odd and strange wizards with their untrustworthy magic. She was not excited for Ilvermorny.

Alice woke up, Pixie Dale was fast asleep by her side. Alice poked Pixie and she woke up in a flash, drawing her wand. She lowered it when she saw it was only Alice. "Alice Adair! Don't scare me like that!" She growled, but her mouth showed a hint of a smile that let her know she wasn't mad. Alice poked her again.
"Come on. It's nearly 7:00! People will start waking up soon! We need to hurry if we want to go to the castle without fighting an army." She told Pixie sternly. She twirled her wand. "I know they'll know more spells than us. And we can't convince them, even if we tell them it's for a better world, a greater good, as that freak Grindelwald said. We can't go to prison, it'll be the end of our hope. The potion I brewed to make them sleep won't be enough. We have to go." She stood up and started walking to the castle. "I'll scout ahead. You stay behind the bushes, and if I need help, help. But only if you won't get caught."
She arrived at the castle and let out a gasp of fear. No. It's not possible. It can't be possible. A gargoyle stood at the entrance of the castle. It was the nightmare of every castle stormer to encounter a gargoyle. The gargoyle had an ugly face and was made of stone. The face was set in a grotesque smile and it seemed to be leering at her. She shivered. Time to distract him. At least, it looked like him. The creepy wings twitched as she stepped forward, and she stopped.
"H-hi? I-I'm Alice. Alice Adair. Who are you?" She wanted to make him stop thinking about why she was there. Get into the castle, steal the strange glass thing with the harmful magic, get out. Easy peasy. She snorted at her own thought. Just make sure the gargoyle can't talk. She watched in apprehension as the gargoyle flapped its wings. Its grotesque smile turned into a slight frown, and it pointed at its mouth. "You can't talk." Alice said breathlessly, relived. Okay. It'll be fine now. She inched closer to the castle. "Where is that glass dome? I can't risk running into guards." She muttered to herself. If she hadn't been so focused, she might have noticed the gargoyle's mouth move slightly, but she was too busy thinking.
Alice took a deep breath and cautiously stepped toward the castle again. When no alarms sounded, she took a real step into the castle. Once she was in the castle, the gargoyle opened its mouth and Alice realized her mistake. But it was too late. The gargoyle yelled out to the castle. "Intruder! Intruder!" It called, grinning evilly at her. She tried to run, but guards immediately showed up. They took out their wands before Alice could and shot red jets of light at her. Then everything went black.

This is a random thing that I wrote enjoy (and you need to have read KOTLC to understand the context):
Ella closed her eyes, exhausted. The effort of resisting had taken a lot out of her. And yet, there she still stood, the only one who'd ever been kind to her, trying to mesmerize her. "Embrace it! It is your destiny!" She sighed and rubbed her temples, still resisting.
"My destiny to what? Be your servant?" She managed to crack a joke, just to annoy her. It worked, making her sigh and shake her head.
"Eleanor. You need to learn you're on the wrong side. My side is the good guys." That made her snort.
"Right. Using your special ability to try to mesmerize me is soo good." She couldn't resist saying. "I'm just saying, the evidence points to you being bad." The cloaked figure sighed.
"It is your destiny. I saw it in the stars." Not this again. She thought with annoyance. The figure must have noticed her expression because she transmitted something to her.
I know you don't believe in that stuff, but it's true. I just want your destiny to be fulfilled. And for that to happen...you need to turn sides and what you believe to be betraying your friends. I don't think you should call them friends though, as all they do is try to hold you back. That made Ella's blood boil with anger.
They protect and strengthen me! How dare you talk about me betraying them when you betrayed me. I will never go with you. And I'm stronger than you. I can beat you. And you know it. It was true, and the fear in her eyes confirmed it. Ella had nearly become overconfident when she felt the figure at it again, and this time much stronger than usual.
"I have an enhancer here, who also happens to be a shade. How convenient, right?" She held her head, trying to fight back the mesmerizing. But it was too much, and she collapsed to the ground, weakening. "Embrace your destiny, for it's about to come true." Then Ella was overpowered and everything went dark.

Minnie's new best friend!

Minnie sighed as she looked for teachers, then grabbed the gillyweed and gulped it down. Jumping into the water, her lungs turned into gills and she started to swim down to where her friend was. Juniper was a squid who she really liked and was becoming close friends with. It didn't matter that she couldn't talk, expressions and body language was all that was needed. As she saw the squid come out she floated to a sandy bank and pointed to their arms to arm wrestle. Juniper agreed and they got into position. Then it started. The pushing and trying to get the other to be weak. It looked like Minnie was going to win for a moment, but Juniper managed to turn the tides at the last moment and win. As Minnie laughed, she could tell that the gillyweed was started to wear off. So she waved goodbye and swam up to the surface, happy and ready to continue her day. As long as she didn't run into any teachers that is.
