It was a summer day in the Brown house. There were birds outside in the trees, squirrels running around in the yard and pedestrians walking oast the house. The sun was out and shining bright sunlight every were. But things were far from cheerful inside the house.

"Why can't I go see Colin?" Lily snapped not at happy they weren't letting her go.

"You saw him all of last year, why don't you spend some time with us during the summer?" Her mother, Annabelle said, crossing her arms.

"So? Who says I want to spend more time with you?" Lily said her voice rising slightly.

" Lily Brown! You do not speak to your mother like that! Go to your room now!" Marcus Brown snapped pointing to her door.

"No! I don't want to go and I won't!" Lily snapped standing her ground.

As much as Marcus complained that his joints were sore and he couldn't get around as fast as he used to, he could still get up from a chair fast enough. "Go to your room now young lady and do not come out!" He snapped.

Lily glared for a few minutes before turning around and stomping away, slamming the door to her room and collapsing on the bed. She sobbed to herself unhappy that she had had a fight with her parents. But right now she didn't care she was so angry right now that she didn't give a crap.

The next day, Marcus and Annabelle let Lily visit one of her old childhood friends. Lily took the bus and as she got off in front of Lana Madison McCormick's house. The two girls hugged and before long were inside talking and watching the television.

Meanwhile, Annabelle and Marcus were getting ready to go to the store. Ammabelle picked up her purse and grabbed the car keys but Marcus took them from her giving her a passionate kiss. "Nope I'm driving my dear." He said with a smile.
He walked her out to the car and opened the door for her. Annabelle got it with a smile and put her seatbelt on. Marcus closed the door and got in the drivers side, buckling his own seatbelt and starting the car.
They drove to the store and while they were stopped at a red light, Annabelle gave him a kiss. "I love you, Marcus." Marcus smiled and cast her a smile.
"I love you too, honey." The light turned green and he pressed his foot down on the accelerator but as they were passing the middle of the intersection, a truck ran through a red light and slammed right into the Marcus's side of the car. The car rolled crushing the roof and shattering the windows and windshield. Annabelle and Marcus reached for their hands at the same moment. A piece of glass hit one of Annabelle's arteries and as she fell unconscious from loss of blood she looked into Marcus's eyes. Marcus himself felt a sharp pain in his head and was knocked out immediately from a concussion.

When the paramedics and police arrive, they pronounced the two dead at the scene. They removed the bodies to the coroner's building and went through checking their ID's. They found out that they had a daughter and went to find her.
A police officer showed up at Lana's house and asked to see Lily and that they needed to take her in for something. Once Lily was in the passenger seat he drove them to the building. He took her inside and stopped outside of the door where the bodies were. "I am very sorry to tell you this, Ms. Brown. But we believe your parents have passed away in a car accident. "
Lily stared at the police officer shaking her head. "No. No this can't be true." She said softly.
"I'm afraid it is. Now since you are the only family they have we have to ask you to identify them. It is procedure." He said softly. Lily took a deep breath and nodded. The officer opened the door and she went in her eyes immediately going to the bodies. They were covered in a blue bag but their faces were open.
Lily stared at them tear welding up in her eyes. "It's them." She choked out and the officer took her out of the room as she broke down crying.
After a while, she calmed down as much as possible. "Do you have any family members you can go to?" The officer asked lightly. Lily hesitated a moment before nodding. "The McCoire family. They are my dad's family. Lives in the highlands of Scotland." She said softly hiccuping every so often.
"Thank you, Ms. Brown. We are very sorry for your loss." The officer said before standing up and going to talk with another officer.

After a while, they drove her back to Lana's house where Lily would stay until Colin's family picked her up.
