Anthony has found, especially within the Slytherins, that Herbology was a class that only Hufflepuffs would like. However, from Anthony's experience that doesn't seem to be the case. Sure, many Hufflepuffs have a sort of passion - some may say obsession - with this class, and Anthony could see why. It was hard and rigorous work and required a lot of patience to pull off effectively. However, Anthony found that many Ravenclaws - including himself - are interested in the subject as well as many Gryffindors as well.

This was one of Anthony's first classes and he wasn't going to lie, it made a pretty good first impression. He was in his first couple of weeks now and Herbology has become one of his favorite classes. Today he walked into class, everything was going normal. He entered class, took his place at his pot, but this day was going to be a particularly interesting class.

First off, the two people who were normally next to him seemed to be running late as they were not there yet. Secondly, perhaps the most interesting part of the class was going to be that they were learning about Mandrakes. Mandrakes were a fascinating species in Anthony's opinion. A fully mature one can scream so load that they can kill a river troll without the proper protection.

Yet, even after Professor Toussaint explained today's lesson, Anthony still couldn't help but think where those two classmates were, since they weren't usually late...

Minnie was ready for her second favorite class of the day. Astronomy was her favorite-not a very Hufflepuff like thing-but she did really love stars. She smiled as she grabbed a small plant from her bag, a specimen she had grabbed from the lake. Having no idea what it was, she started to study it, looking at its leaves and stem. She was so caught up in her work she didn't realize the bell had gone off and she looked up from her plant, alarmed. Her partner and the person next to her probably had no clue where she was, and was most likely annoyed.

Minnie started to run to class, trying to make herself not too late. When she finally got there, she was hot and sweaty and most definitely late. And she saw they were learning about Mandrakes, one of her favorite plants! Ice mice! I need to not do that again. She thought. Then she hurriedly sat down next to her classmate, a brown haired boy with glasses like hers.

"Sorry I'm late." She whispered. "I...got occupied with something." She explained, not wanting to tell him the whole truth. "What did I miss?" She asked, looking at the teacher who was most likely not amused by her lateness. "Acid pops! I can't believe I'm late on the day of Mandrakes. Sorry if I seem odd."

At last, after several minutes of worrying - likely too much - he was greeted by his partner. As she approached, she apologized for being late. She had blond hair and white skin; her glasses were similar to his own but a little more oval shaped, Anthony didn't know why but he noted the appearance of everyone he met, he was mildly fascinated at the individuality and the uniqueness of each person, no two people were the same. Even identical twins had subtle differences in appearances and oftentimes major differences in personality.

Trying not to get lost in his thoughts - again - he smiled and greeted his Hufflepuff partner. "You didn't miss too much, he said with a small chuckle, he wasn't mad at his partner by any means. Anthony would likely do the same thing at one point in his Hogwarts career. "Professor Toussaint went to go get some soil for the mandrakes, apparently there is a special type of soil that not only calms the Mandrake, but also severely muffles them. Fascinating, isn't it? He usually isn't this ranting on about a random subject but considering that his partner was a Hufflepuff he hoped that she would share this fascination.

"I don't think we've ever had any formal introductions, I'm Anthony. He stuck out his hand for a handshake, he hoped that his memo was obvious enough, he had never been social like this and didn't really know what the first thing was in terms of introducing it, he had never cared to research about it either - assuming that there were any books on it - so he was pretty much winging it at this point. He hoped that he wasn't showing too much nervousness and kept his hand held out for his handshake...

Vicente went down to the herbology class all alone today because he was in a rush after dozing off in his previous class. Frustration ate away at him when he realised his friend had failed to wake him for the next class. Yet, as he raced down the castle corridors towards the glass-made building, he was relieved to find a sight of a familiar Hufflepuff barreling ahead of him. If he failed to make it to the class, perhaps he could at least form a great friendship with his fellow housemate during detention; who knows?

It was pure luck that he managed to arrive on time for the plant-related subject. Actually, he was a little bit late for it, as the professor had already discussed the topic for today. Mandrake, also known as Mandrágora in his home country. He recognised the bushy plant because his mother had planted a few of them for her medicine studies. Gasping for air, the boy stumbled slightly with burning lungs to an empty spot next to the Ravenclaw boy, who coincidentally was sitting beside the girl who had been running ahead of him.

"I'm sorry to interrupt, but is this seat taken?" The mixed-race boy panted before closing his eyes to take some deep breaths. Honestly, the diaphragmatic breathing he learned through his half-aunt's book proved to be beneficial for him even at a moment like this, and he was grateful that the method managed to calm him down. He silently prayed that the brown-haired boy's response would be welcoming as he desperately needed to find a place to sit to avoid much more exhaustion from running.

Minnie smiled and shook Anthony's hand. "Nice to meet you Anthony." She replied, partly for the boy who had just showed up. "I'm Minnie." Then she turned to the boy who had just arrived, partly relieved she wasn't the only one to be late. "What's your name, and no, as far as I know the spot next to Anthony is not taken. But as I'm also..." She cringed. "Late. Then I really have no clue."

Stop talking! You're nervous, and you need to stop being nervous. Oh, but I never do well in social situations. Her worrying went physical as her hair turned gray-red, indicating her stress through her metamorphmagus ability.

"Gaa. Sorry about that. Usually that doesn't happen." She changed her hair back to normal and hid her face from the two most likely curious boys. I really shouldn't have studied that plant. She thought, very annoyed at herself. It's your own fault your in this situation. Minnie shook off the thoughts and turned back to the boys. "Well...mandrakes...they're pretty cool don't you think?" She stammered, blushing. Then she looked at the professor and waited for them to respond, not wanting to talk and embarrass herself again, resulting in two people thinking she's weird when all she wants is to make friends. So keep your mouth shut and try to talk normal.

She shook his hand, and honestly Anthony was quite glad that she did. He hadn't always been one with words or people, so he was relieved when this ended up working out for him. She then introduced herself as Minnie before she turned facing another student who had just entered the class as well. She seemed to be a bit more comfortable knowing that she wasn't the only one that was late.

The boy who had just arrived had darker skin with short black hair and an eyepatch on his right eye. He was an interesting figure; the eyepatch was definitely a unique and curious sight. Anthony wondered how he got it. Before Anthony had the chance to ask, the boy asked him if the other seat right next to him was taken.

The words were taken right out of Anthony's mouth as Minnie introduced herself to the boy, reassuring that the seat was not taken, and also how that it was likely a guess since the both of them were late. Honestly, Anthony didn't mind that they were late. However, Minnie seemed to have a different perspective on that as she cringed when she explained how they were both, and especially herself, late.

Minnie definitely seemed nervous, but an interesting phenomenon occurred as Minnie's hair changed from the normal shade of blond to a reddish-grey that Anthony saw fascinating. Why did it change color? He would probably have to go to the library during his free period to do a bit of research. Anthony could also just simply ask her, but again her wasn't very good with people. "Besides, what fun would that be?" He thought to himself.

She apologized for the sudden change in color of her hair, and before Anthony could say that there was no need for apologies, she turned her head away, likely embarrassed. "Another reason to just do a little bit of research in the library, I guess..." he thought to himself. She then turned back to him, nervously probing at his interest in mandrakes.

Anthony smiled lightly, "Hehe, so I guess your nervous when meeting new people too?" He looked back to the boy behind him, "Aw man," he thought to himself. "I almost forgot that he was here. I feel terrible now." With his nervousness starting to show up in his speech, he tried to be confident and straightforward, but couldn't help sounding a little more nervous than before. "Oh um, no. The seat is not taken. We were just talking about today's lesson on Mandrakes. I'm Anthony by the way."

He took a deep breath to calm himself down, and he was able to speak with confidence again. "Fascinating creatures aren't they. The Mandrakes." He prompted both of the Hufflepuff students. Professor Toussaint then walked back into the classroom, informing the class that she was ready to start with the lesson. Anthony sighed, half with relief and half with excitement.

He was ready to start class and was curious to see how his two partners would react to the challenges ahead. After all, Mandragora are, to say the least, complicated to take care of. He had a couple of scenarios in mind on how he could approach this challenge and was interested to see which ones he had come up with would be effective...

Introducing himself is quite annoying. Sure, his name wasn't the most complicated name to pronounce, but there were inevitably those who would stumble over it, or worse, misspell it as Vincent."My name is Vicente," he enunciated, plastering up a small smile so that he didn't come off as intimidating, "Feel free to make me a nickname. It might make it easier for everyone."

As he listened to the girl talk about the empty spot and her tardiness, Vicente couldn't help but notice a subtle transformation in her appearance. Her hair, which had been a blonde colour just moments ago, had taken on a muted, greyish-red hue.Huh, she must be a morph changer, whatever the English term is. He had acquired some knowledge about the rare ability thanks to his private tutoring sessions with a former professor in Castelobruxo. Perhaps in the United Kingdom, this kind of ability is much more common, because he swore he had seen a couple of them while wandering around the castle.

Vicente sat down on the stool next to the Ravenclaw boy, who introduced himself as Anthony according to the Hufflepuff name Minnie. "Thank you, it's nice to meet you two," Vicente said as he took out his small notebook from his messenger bag. He took a quick glance at the girl to see that her hair was back to its natural state, much to his relief. "I'm not fond of mandrakes," he shared with the two people, "I handled them when I was younger."

Minnie blushed as the boy named Vicente looked her way. He must have noticed. She thought, mortified. "Oh...is that what happened to your eye?" She asked, then covered her mouth. "Sorry, sometimes my mouth just says things. That was rude." She turned towards Anthony and answered his question. "I agree. They're one of my favorite plants. Even if they are a tad dangerous." She added, making a joke.

Will they think that's funny? Or will they think I'm odd? I wish we could just start our task and skip the introductions. She bit her lip with the nerves. Okay, last time you told someone this it went fine. Let's try it again and hope for the best.

"So...I'm betting you saw my hair change color. It's because I'm...a metamorphmagus, meaning I can change my appearance at will." To show an example, she concentrated and gave herself darker skin, the same shade as Vicente. Then she turned it back and made her hair grow past her shoulders, then back to her normal length. "Um...you won't tell anyone, will you?" She asked, nervous and concerned. "It's...a...not bad thing but...I'd rather you keep it to yourselves."

As Anthony was preparing to start this classes lesson, he noticed Minnie talking to Vicente. She asked about his eye and Anthony could tell that she immediately regretted it as she immediately apologized. In all honesty Anthony himself was curious about Vicentes eye as well, but the time to answer that question will come when Vicente was ready.

Minne then caught both of their attention, prompting them if they saw her hair change. Anthony certainly saw it, and perhaps her wouldn't have to go the library to get his answer on why. She explained that she was a metamorphmagus and could change her appearance at will. Anthony eyes widened at the statement, he had read about Metamorphmagi before, but couldn't remember where. Looks like he would still have to go to the library, which was perfectly fine with him.

Minnie seemed almost embarrassed about this fact, but Anthony saw no reason as to why she should think that way. Metamorphmagi were among the rarest and powerful skills in the wizarding world. "Wow, thats so cool!" he said aloud. "How does that work? What can you turn into? I'm guessing it changed color cause you were nervous?" he stopped himself from giving her a barrage of questions, not wanting to stress her out any more than she probably is already.

"Um.. sorry about all the questions. I'm just really curious. I've never met a Metamorphmagus before." he said with a light smile to try and lighten the mood, he couldn't help but blush of total embarrassment. He tried to hide it but it was futile. Anthony then looked at Vicente, "So, you handled Mandrakes when you were younger? Looks like both of us have some traumatic childhood experiences." he realized that what he said would no doubt spark many more questions, questions he wouldn't necessarily enjoy answering, "I should not have said that, I should not have said that." He mumbled to himself, instantly regretting his words. He prepared for the question that he feared to answer, and hoped he wouldn't have to answer it...
