Arjan’s jaw clenched shut. He did not understand what was going on. Who the hell was she? He pulled her in front of him roughly, glaring at her intently. He wanted to yell at her. But no words came out. He stared at her, opening his mouth and shutting it. This action repeated a few times as he tried to figure out who she was, what was happening. What in the love of Stribog was she?!
“Explain. Now.” He hissed at his younger sister, furious at the expression on her face, struggling to get any further words out or the questions that were running through his mind. He ground his teeth together as he tried to vocalise his thoughts without any success. There was so much he wanted to say but he simply could not find the words to say them. They were siblings, right? As much as it was to his dismay, they were still siblings and this made no sense. Why was she so different? Why was she… more like their father than he was? Is that why-
The thoughts crossed his mind. He did not know what to think or how to process it. His father had always favoured her over him. It was something he never quite understood. Arjan was far taller than the rest of them, literally towering over the ‘Towers’ relatives.
No. She was adopted. Of course she was. There was no way he was related to, whatever this shit was and he was - obviously - the favoured child. She was definitely adopted. That single thought kept repeating in his mind, as though he was trying to convince himself. The truth was that a part of him doubted it. His father always favoured her… She bore similarities to multiple relatives, such as their grandparents and looked uncannily like an aunt too. He knew that he looked quite different from a lot of them but he could not have been adopted! Surely not! He refused to acknowledge the thought. It was her. She was at fault.
He looked at his disgusting sister’s stupid face and her stupid expression, which pissed him off incredibly. The short stature nature, the pointy ears, everything amounted to something he was not. She had a confused look on her face and it irritated the hell out of him. It was like she was intentionally acting “innocent” and dumb. “The fucking earrings. The ears.” He muttered in a low voice, as though he did not want others to over hear by any chance. “What the fuck are you? A house elf?”
He clenched his jaw at her - a clear sign that he was refusing to listen to any sort of reason anyway and trying to control the volume of his voice as to not start screaming at her. That would not very purebloodlike of him, after all! This whole thing was a lie. She was up to something. He was the beloved child! She was the mistake! “Cover it up and stop fucking embarassing me, you adopted piece of shit,” He spat out at her in a low, dangerous tone that had clear undertones of being threatening if she failed to comply. “I always knew you were ugly filth. You never did care about the family reputation, did you? What was it? The money? You sicken me, you disgusting dumb fuckin' bastard. At least try and pretend you care, instead of parading your ugliness around for the world to see!”
As soon as he heard the words escape her lips, the Durmstrang boy saw red. He shoved her roughly towards the ground [Strength Roll: 20 + 28 = 48] - finally releasing her forearm as he did so - before balling up his hand into a tight fist and throwing it directly at that little peasant’s face [Accuracy Roll: [13, 16] + 13 + 2 = 31].

Plot Hook ─ Serena has been hiding her pointy ears for years hats, headbands and hair in an effort to keep her goblin heritage a secret. Her family is known to be a Pureblood family. From 1st July 2023, she openly wears copper earpieces (drawn by me) over her ears to draw attention to them. Her goblin-ness may be a surprise to some people.
Mentions: @Hugh Lowe and @Howard White
you must forge your own path for it to mean anything
Her eyebrows furrowed some more as she was pulled to a stop in front of him. He looked furious. She had never quite seen him so angry. Serena was tempted to shove him but the look on his face made her heart shake slightly. Did he drag her out here to literally murder her? She would not have been surprised.
There was a fear that filled her entire body but she did not want to let him control her. She had made the decision that she did not give a shit what anyone thought of her when she donned metal over her ears and made sure that everyone knew she was a goblin. Yet, seeing the anger in Arjan’s eyes made her feel so much smaller.
It was one thing standing up to someone you did not know. It was another thing entirely standing up to your family. Her watery eyes stung. She wanted to cry but she was adamantly trying not to. She was not a baby after all! The pain on her forearm was one thing but the emotional pain of her brother shooting daggers at her was another thing entirely. “Explain- what?” She started trying to figure out what the hell he meant. Her head turned to look back towards the direction from which she had just been dragged. Maybe he meant the party? Or the people that were there? Was he furious about Hugh or Howard again? Perhaps that his friends were there instead?
A million scenarios and questions started to flood her mind but she had no idea what one specific thing had triggered him today. It could have been any of them. Perhaps all of them! “It was just a party. With a few friends. You know, before we graduate or whatever- It was meant to be quiet- and small but like- others started to join- and I wasn’t going to say no- and-” Serena started to ramble quickly, trying to justify everything that happened. The confusion was painted on her expression.
The words were caught in her throat as she heard the next thing he said. The earrings. The ears. She swallowed. Right. This was not something she was going to apologise for. Her confusion turned sour. What did he really want from her? Instantly, her rambling mouth fell quiet. She gritted her teeth in return. The eerie silence felt like it went on for hours but it was a matter of seconds. Clenching her jaw, her expression started to mimic his. For onlookers, it was becoming increasingly clear that the two were definitely related or at the very least, grew up together. They had the same angry look in their expression.
After the deafening silence, Serena finally spoke. “I have nothing to explain to you.” She mumbled. Her voice was very quiet. She wished she had said it louder and prouder but nonetheless, it was full of rage. There was determination in her meager voice. She was livid. A house elf? Really? Was he that dumb?
But the next line he barked at her caused her worried heart to harden, growing cold and icy. He thought she was adopted? He claimed that she was an embarrassment because of her race? It sparked a rage in her that burned bright. Her family had kept their goblinness quiet for decades but Serena was done. She was not going to keep hiding who she was because of some bullshit pureblood mentality.
Of course she was scared. She was scared every single day that someone would hurt her because she was different. Unlike her closest friends, she had been able to hide who she was - and it made her feel incredibly guilty. But a part of her was more scared that she would have spent her entire life pretending to be something else, someone else and live a lie. The moment she had made a decision to show off her true heritage, she knew that she would have to confront her family - starting with her brother. It did not make this any easier. If looks could kill, his would have burned holes into her instantly.
It was too late to back out now though. The words left her mouth before she could stop herself. In nothing but utter sheer spite, “Seriously? Have you ever even looked at dad? I’m not the adopted one here. Who knows who your father is? What, did he not want you? Did he abandon you? Or was he just not good enough to marry?” She responded coldly, questioning his heritage, implying that his mother might not have thought he was 'worthy' of being married to - maybe he was a muggle!
He was the adopted one. She was clearly the Towers child - something they both knew. Her paternal family were of a similar height to her, she had the blue eyes that ran in their line and most importantly, she had her father's ears. He was not as stupid as he looked, she believed that. Surely he knew by now. Hell, it was no coincidence that their mother had actively encouraged him going by her family name and not his so-called father’s. “Get your filthy bastard hand off me,” She retorted, finally done with his bullshit.
It was like a switch had flipped and any tiny bit of self-restraint that Arjan had left quickly seemed to dissipate. Not that he had much, lets be honest.
He finally released her [Damage: 1 x str (28) = 28 hp], shoving her back onto the ground. Serena immediately fell back, with zero chance of catching herself despite her best efforts to try and land on her feet so he didn’t get an upper hand [Strength Save: 2 + 3 = 5]. Falling back onto the ground, there was very little she could do as she saw a fist flying towards her rapidly. A squeak escaped her lips as she immediately rolled, acting more on instinct after years of learning to dodge on a broom [Evasion Roll: 18 + 19 = 37].
“Pizza!” She called out suddenly as she moved, her eyes spotting the little brown rat that had been running around the party. He had obviously followed her when she was dragged. The little rat scampered quickly as she rolled. Quickly pushing herself up, she looked as though she was about to kick off into a sprint with her legs bent, her hand against the ground. Her head snapped up towards her half-brother. He was not pulling his punch. That much was clear. He had put his weight into that.
“I’m not fighting you. Nor am I going to apologise for this. This is not my problem! If you have a problem, take it up with your mother,” Serena snapped at him, trying her best to control the raging fire that was within her. Her eyes watered from the sheer anger of the situation.

The Durmstrang fumed as his fist hit the empty air. His eyes snapped at her, even more angry now that she had the audacity to dodge his punch. What was she trying to do now? Make him look stupid and weak? Her words stung. Not because of her tone or expression nor were the words themselves all that offensive. Rather, it was the truth behind them - the truth that a tiny, teeny tiny part of him believed. It was all of the things he was starting to doubt and fear. Deep deep down, everything she said was hitting him hard. “You dirty fuckin' lying bitch,” He muttered, trying to deny every single word that she said but... deep down, he had always known...
Their father had always loved and treasured her more than him. They even had a secret language that he had taught her but not him. Their dad took her to the quidditch games, took her out on trips. There were days when he would never really see his dad, only to find out that Serena had spent the entire day with him at work or on a trip or whatever else. He was never offered those. He had seen how close she was to their paternal grandparents. As much as he hated to admit it, a part of him had always wondered where he had gotten his height from - because it was not from them. It was not a huge deal but he was towering over six foot whilst most of his relatives were closer to five. It had always struck him as a bit odd. He was the different one. He just did not want to admit it.
Even when Serena became a Hufflepuff, instead of a Slytherin, his dad always seemed proud of her. Arjan could never compete. No matter what he did. It infuriated him. She was an embarrassment to the household and yet, no one did anything. He was the one who attended all of the parties, he was the one who strove to be the best, make those connections and network.
And now, she stared at him with such defiance? She thought she had the high ground here? That puny little midget dared to think she was better than him? Better than Arjan frickin’ Oberoi. Right. He was not a Towers. He was an Oberoi. That was right. He kept telling himself that. It did not stop the hurt and pain deep within his heart - that feeling of dread that he could not fathom or explain in words. He had always wanted his father’s approval…
“Ooh the house elf dares to disobey the master?” He spat out at her, almost in a sick and twisted tone of voice. “That’s all you are. Free labour. Don’t act like you matter,” He continued, throwing his frustration and fears onto her. How dare she act all high and mighty when she was literally a house elf? She ought to be apologising, covering her ears and being the meager little weakass that he knew her to be, “How about I start by ripping off those ears of yours for you? You might be able to hide your ugliness then,” He snarled at her.
His gaze fell onto the little scummy rat that he had always hated. Why was this little gnome allowed to keep a rat? It was disgusting and grim, just like her. He always thought it suited her because she was unwanted and gross too. Now he had to wonder if it was because their father could not say no to his beloved little trash. But it was not worthy of a pureblood family! Then again - perhaps they weren’t one. But… he was a pureblood, right? Surely. The thought sickened him. What if he wasn’t?
As soon as the thought entered his mind, he wanted to barf. In a moment of rashness, he immediately stomped the ground, aiming towards the filthy little creature scampering around the grass [Straight Accuracy Roll: 8 vs 11]. He narrowly missed it, almost catching the tail under the sole of his boot. He watched the little rat scutter a little, clearly afraid of whatever was happening around them. “Maybe it's time to rid the world of some of this filth...” He continued, showing his truly ugly personality.
He smirked as the idea crossed his mind again, instantly wasting no time in raising his foot again to attack the little rat once more [Accuracy Roll: 6 + 13 = 19]. He was quick, accurate and dangerously angry. Pizza had no chance of dodging the attack.

you must forge your own path for it to mean anything
“I’m not a house elf, you dumb prick! Are you really that stupid? Free labour? Really? That doesn’t even make sense! Our parents literally have to pay for everything and we don't WORK there,” She continued, about to sigh and reason this whole thing out with him. Maybe she was acting far too rashly. The part-goblin tried her best to calm herself down. She had expected some sort of outrage on his part, so she should have been mentally prepared for this. At the very least, she had managed to dodge his hit.
He annoyed the hell out of her but maybe he was hurting too. After all, their parents had not only lied to her, they had lied to him. She could recall the pain when she found out the truth herself. She had felt so alone, so betrayed by her own parents hiding it as though they were ashamed by her. Perhaps he felt some of that too? “Look, we can talk this out. I have no intention of fighting you. We don’t have to do this now. Or here. This isn't either of our fault. Let's just calm down, we can talk about it later. Back at home.” She continued, fully aware of the fact that there was a party not too far away and anyone could be overhearing or overlooking this argument. Serena also knew her brother well. She knew that he had always cared about the opinion of others - it was one of the many reasons they did not get along.
Her words fell on deaf ears. Nothing she was saying was getting through. Serena opened her mouth to continue, trying once more but no words came out. Instead, there was a squeak that escaped her throat as she felt the sheer panic surge through her body as she watched her brother’s foot come crashing down next to the love of her life. Her heart almost stopped in that moment. The sheer fear of what might have happened ached her heart.
Her eyes widened in an instant as he raised his foot once more, this time with a look of more determination. Arjan was a lot of things in her opinion and she knew how much he disliked her - and Pizza Rat - but never, in a million years, would she imagine he would try and hurt him. “PETRIFICUS TOTALUS!” She screamed, aiming directly at his raised foot [Wisdom Roll: 13 + 15 = 28, Success (Wandless DC 19)] [Accuracy Roll: 8 + 15 = 23] that hovered on top of Pizza’s.
Every single fibre of her being instantly burst into a fiery rage that she could not soothe. The boy in front of her moved. The smirk on his face needed to be wiped off. “Confringo!” Serena barked out with zero hesitation behind her words. She had spent years being careful not to hurt people, knowing how much it hurt getting hit by a bludger or being burned by an incendio. Hell, she avoided pushing people off brooms. Serena was a healer intern, she literally spent hours of her life every single week researching healing methods and trying to help people. Yet in this moment, there was nothing but anger behind her single word. [Wisdom Roll: 14 + 15 = 29, Success (Wandless DC 22)], [Accuracy Roll: 15 + 15 - 1 (Charmer) = 29]
Serena stared intently at the boy she had called her brother. "Don’t you dare touch him! You want to fight? Then pick on someone your own size. Or are you that weak?” She snapped at him, though it was lost on her that she was not really ‘his size’. She had a better chance that her tiny counterpart, disgusted at his behaviour.
Snapping her fingers to draw Pizza's attention, she instructed in the calmest tone of voice yet - “Pizza, go,” She instructed him. This was followed by a hand motion ushering him away. He had been trained, after all. Normally, she'd have instructed the rat to bite but in this instance, this fight was between her and her older half-brother. Pizza would only be in danger here.
In truth, she was terrified. Arjan was strong. She knew that very well. His grip alone stung. Her skin was still red. If he managed to hit her, he'd probably break her jaw in an instant. But right now, she did not care. Even if she broke every bone, she had to get through to him. She had to make him see that she was not about to be pushed around. That he could not just walk all over her and those she loves - literally.
She panted softly, waiting for his retaliation. Her wand was in the wandholder that she had equipped on her forearm, she did not take it out yet. Steadying herself, she took a step back and took up a new pose. A 'come and fight me' pose. The girl was not equipped with her 'battle suit', as she had not intended to fight anyone today. However, she had her wand poised and ready for the fight. On her ears, the earpiece made a little sound every time anything came too close - warning her slightly in advance to dodge. Around her ankles, the wings that sat on her shoes started to flutter. They made her ever so slightly faster. These were all little bits and pieces that she had created. The Goblin side of her had embraced metalsmithing several years ago. If he wanted to fight her, she was going to do everything she could to make it hurt.

“I'M NOT STUPID. YOU'RE STUPID!” Arjan barked back at her angrily, like an actual child who could not retort any better. In truth, he could not put proper sentences together. His mind was blank. There was a rage within him that he could not quite explain. So many thoughts, the whole situation was confusing. He had never had as many thoughts or emotions at any one moment as he did right now. Were they not related? Was he the adopted one? Was his mother even his? Was he even a pureblood?
The Durmstrang student had absolutely no idea what any of the answers to his questions were. Or even what his questions were. He had so many unanswered thoughts that he could not dare to vocalise. That little gremlin kept saying she did not want to fight. As he went to stomp down on that ugly rat that she kept with her, he quickly found his body straight to freeze. The spell Serena had thrown at him hit square in the calf [Evasion Roll: 5 + 10 = 15]. Before he knew it, he started to fall backwards. Look who came out to play... [Damage = 50 hp]
Flexing his muscles as much as he could, he started to fight against the binding. It was as though his insides were fighting out against the cage. [Strength roll: Nat 20 + 28 = 48] Arjan groaned as he straightened again moments later, managing to pull himself out of the binding. He managed to break free before his body even fell to the ground. A smirk crossed his face. The little brat thought that would stop him. If she could only paralyse him for a moment then she had no chance of winning. The confidence surged through him once more. He was better than her. He just had to prove it.
“Oh please. You're gonna have to do better than that. Or are gremlins that weak?” He snapped back, smirking at how weak she was. This was going to be easy. He took a step forward, readying to throw a punch at her as he figured that she would not even bother to fight him. She was probably just going to stand there, crying. They were definitely not related! That much was clear, at the very least. Or she would do something stupid like that 'wind charm' she loved so much that just held him back but did not actually hurt.
Perhaps it was his overconfidence but he was not prepared for what happened next. The spell hit him square in the chest, forcing him back into a tree behind him [Evasion Roll: 1 + 10 =11]. A loud groan escaped from his throat as the pain enveloped his body [Damage: 150 + 10 x 15 = 300 hp]. His expression turned sour, the smirk turning into a grim look as a part of his lip was lifted in disgusted.
He spat out on the ground below him before wiping his mouth with the back of his sleeve. Seeing nothing but red, he charged at her like a bull and went to tackle her. [Accuracy: 1 + 13 = 14]. He staggered, stumbling on the ground as she quickly stepped out of the way. He stumbled, falling over. As he turned, falling to the ground, he went to kick her. It was an odd angle, giving him disadvantage in this attack but he tried it nonetheless out of sheer desperation. There was no way that the ugly little gremlin was going to beat him. [Accuracy: 18, 1 + 13 - 2 = 12].
Arjan had no idea how she was doing this. She was cheating. That had to be it. Serena was not better than him. Yet he was the one on the ground right now, struggling to hit her. The normally overconfident man felt an odd sensation. Doubt? He felt like a loser. No, no. He was not a loser. She was not going to make him feel like one. He was a winner. Even now, he would win.
Shoving the grass beneath him with his palms angrily, Arjan pushed off the ground and tackled her once more [Accuracy: 15 + 13 = 28], “You ugly gremlin-”

you must forge your own path for it to mean anything
The enraged badger did not bother dignifying his 'comeback' with any sort of retort. It was not worth it. His words were not going to hurt her. She had spent countless hours thinking of every possible insult she could. There was nothing he could say that she had not already told herself. Besides, she did not care if her brother thought she was stupid or ugly or anything. She cared about the safety of those she loved - Pizza Rat being the primary one in this instance - and about her parents. They were her parents. They were not going to take the argument between siblings well.
But when it came down to picking and maintaining some nonsense pretence about being a caring family or Pizza's life, she would always pick her rat. The truth was that - as much as she loved her family (barring Arjan, in all honesty) - she also knew they might not accept her decision. It was in direct disobedience to what they had instructed her: to keep her goblinness a family secret, as though it was a red flag in their family line.
There was a fear that ran through her constantly since she had made this decision. She was scared that her family would be hurt and disown her. She had no idea how they would react and that terrified her. But deep, deep, down, there was a single truth that she knew the moment she had made this decision. When it came down to it, she was willing to sacrifice every single relationship she had with her family if she had to. She could no longer live in a lie. That would be worse than being alone. Her boggart was being alone and yet, pretending she was not a goblin and trying to hide it for the rest of her life seemed like a more terrifying prospect in that very moment.
Arjan was strong, she knew that. He had broken out of her spell in an instant but it had bought Pizza Rat enough time to scamper away quickly, likely towards @Hugh Lowe or @Howard White if either of those boys approached. Serena returned her focus on the boy in front of her, the fury evident in her eyes as she continued to attack him.
She watched him spit out blood before charging towards her. It did not take her much effort to quickly dodge out of the way [Evasion: 10 + 19 = 29]. Serena had no idea if it was him or her but the adrenaline coursed through her body as she gritted her teeth, jumping back as he took a stumbling swipe at her and ended up kicking air [Evasion 4 + 19 = 23].
She quickly took a few steps back, putting some distance between them. In a physical fight, there was no chance that her punches would have the same effect on him. Her noodle arms were not going to scratch him. Serena knew her half-brother would not take the news well but she had never quite expected this.
If he was brawn, she was brains. She had to think. Quick. But it was hard to think when all she could see was red. The anger was blocking her from thinking about anything other than making his stupid looking face break. He tried to crush her closest friend under his shoe - and she wanted absolutely nothing more than to crush him in return. It was not the smartest move but she did not care.
As he charged at her once more, she sidestepped ducking under his arm and out beside him [Evasion: 16 + 19 = 35]. Her balled-up fist went straight for the side of his face, as a single word escaped her lips, “Diffindo,” She roared at him like a lioness defending her young, [Wisdom: 8 + 15 = 23, Success (Wandless DC 19)] [Accuracy: 17 + 15 - 1 = 31]. It was not a spell she had ever thought she would cast at another person, especially after seeing how awful people used similar underhanded tactics to bring her favourite part-giant down to his knees. But if they could slice through his ankles, she could do the same to Arjan's ears. He hated her pointy ears, right? How about they went with matching?
[If successful, diffindo will do 50 + AP x 10 damage. The punch will do 100*(str)*0.9/10.]
Arjan thought he was the most handsome thing that had existed, right? Serena knew exactly how to take that away - “Furnunculus!” She cursed at him [Wisdom: 8 + 15 = 23, Success (Wandless DC 21)] [Accuracy: 20 + 15 - 1 = 34] wasting no time in continuing the attack as he had done to her. He was not stopping in his retaliation, why should she?

“I'll kill yer - and that fuckin' rat of yours-” He snarled under his breathe, furious at her attitude - and the fact that she seemed to be able to dodge most of his attacks. Did he want his sister dead deep down? Probably not, no. He was more talk than action but he was livid and in this state, he wanted her to hurt as much as he was hurting. There was a pain that he had never quite felt before in his heart. He did not want to admit it.
He was adopted. He was the mistake. Who the hell was he? Who was his father? Was he even a pureblood?
The thoughts sickened him. He gritted his teeth, swinging to grab her but the wily little bugger managed to escape his grasp once again. Her height was to her advantage. She was too short for him to actually hit - that must be it! It was not his fault. He was incredible. She was the problem here.
He didn't expect it but he found himself getting clocked to the side of his face. The punch itself was something he could barely feel. What he did feel, however, was the sharp sting across the side of his head [Evasion: 2 + 10 = 12, Damage: 150 + 27 = 177]. His hand instinctively moved, clutching it. His right ear was wet. Before he could react to that, he groaned as he felt something course through his cheeks. It started to... bubble? [Evasion: 5 + 10 = 15, Damage: 50] What the fuck was this bitch doing to him?! What spell did she just cast?! Arjan had no idea, he was barely listening to her, thinking that she was not worth listening to.
Taking a swing, he put his weight behind it [Accuracy: 6 + 13 = 19] but the unpleasant feeling boiling under his side was making it harder to focus. Turning his body as he recovered from the first punch, he moved to grab her. This time, he went in for the kill. He was being nice before. Because she was his sister. Not anymore. Arjan went straight for the throat, moving to grab her and put her into a choke hold [Accuracy: 13 + 13 = 26].
The expression on his face turned from sour to an arrogant smirk in an instant. He rammed her back against a nearby tree. Raising his other hand, he wasted no time in pummeling the smaller framed one [Accuracy, First: 2 + 13 = 15 | Second: 17 + 13 = 30 | Third: 3 + 13 = 16].

you must forge your own path for it to mean anything
Serena pulled her head back in an instant, barely managing to get out of the way of his swing. She tried to take another step back quickly, but he recovered and went to grab her. With as much strength as she could, she pushed herself back [Evasion: 7 + 19 = 26, Auto Dodge: Failed]. The siblings locked in a clash, matching in speed [Contested Roll S vs. A, highest succeeds - 4 vs. 5].
Before she could react, she felt the ground disappear from below her feet. Her eyes widened, her hands instinctively going to the hand clutched around her throat. The air stopped and every single thought in her brain turned into one: escape. She struggled to breathe, tugging hard at the fingers. Serena found herself being shoved against something hard as her back and head hit a nearby tree [Damage: 252 hp, half of Arjan's punch]. Arjan's grip did not loosen though.
Serena started to kick him, instead of trying to struggle against the air. Having the tree behind her helped her kick off it and attempt to hit him but being lifted in the air was never a good sign. [Accuracy Rolls, First: 19 + 15 - 1 - 2 = 31 | Second: 15 + 15 - 1 - 2 = 27 | Third: 14 + 15 - 1 - 2 = 26 | Fourth: 19 + 15 - 1 - 2 = 31 | Fifth: 5 + 15 - 1 - 2 = 17]
[if successful, each kick would do 100*(str)*1.1/10 but at -2 accuracy, half of the martial artist's kick]
The badger's eyes started to roll back in her head for a moment before she forced her head forward to try and stay awake. She could see his hand raising as he started to pummel her with blows. Struggling, she did her best to block the incoming attacks with her forearms or legs, trying to divert each strike somewhere else. [Evasion Rolls with disadvantage, First: 12 9 + 19 = 28, Success | Second: 4 16 +19 = 23, Failure | Third: 4 2 + 19 = 21, Success. Auto Dodge: failed]
She managed to deflect his hand by kicking it away at first but the second hit crashed into her ribcage and the pain immediately shot through her body. Was there a cracking sound? She couldn't tell, she could barely think [Damage: 504 hp]. She couldn't even scream. Air exhaled out of her mouth in the form of a cough as his fist met her lungs. The invisible scars still on her lungs ached in an instant.
Her eyes welled up as the oxygen in her airways started to deplete. She kicked towards him. [Accuracy Rolls, First: 13 + 15 - 1 - 2 = 25 | Second: 3 + 15 - 1 - 2 = 15 | Third: 5 + 15 - 1 - 2 = 17 | Fourth: 2 + 15 - 1 - 2 = 14 | Fifth: 15 + 15 - 1 - 2 = 27] Every single action she was taking was purely her body moving on instinct. She tugged at his hand, struggling against the grip. In reality, she could have cast magic to force him to release her but her brain went blank as she struggled to breathe. Staying awake was a struggle.
[if successful, each kick would do 100*(str)*1.1/10 but at -2 accuracy, half of the martial artist's kick]
Serena pulled at the hold, as she kicked against the tree with all of her might. He was stronger than her. She knew that and his fingers dug into the sides of her throat painfully. [Strength Save: Natural 20 (Literally the only thing that would have gotten her out of this with their 25 str difference)] and somehow managed to dislodge his fingers enough to pull at his grasp. She slipped out of his hand, ducking onto the ground as she gasped for air, coughing aggressively. The lack of oxygen had not helped. Blood splattered over the grass as she coughed, bent over against it several metres from him after she had managed to roll away. She wobbled slightly, getting back onto her feet. It was not over, she knew that.
Her head ached, likely from the lack of air but she did not have time to think about it. Everything hurt. Her ribcage was bruising and she panted. Serena needed to end this. Before he ended her. She gasped for air, trying her best to steady herself.

@Serena Towers @Howard White
"They can't have gone far!" Hugh growled at Howard as he trailed behind. Whenever he roamed the edge of the forest like this, he felt like a bear protecting his old patch of woodland realm. But this time he brought along a panther, he felt like. The boy was ominous at best. His very appearance making the many hairs on Hugh's cheeks stand upwards. And the sound of him sneaking... that was it, there was no sound. While Hugh, being the giant he is, stomped forward with loud thuds underneath his boots. He felt like Howard was a shadow floating just within his peripheral.
He was about to make a comment when yelling reached his ears. Not one second later, both boys and the rat laid eyes on the siblings engaged in what seemed like an intense duel. Hugh could not make out who was winning. Which scared him a little. Serena was powerful, but even the best can fall when ambushed. His eyes scanned his environment once more. The siblings were a little ways off. And while his stride could bring him pretty close in no time, it would only take one hit from Arjan to do some serious damage to his sister.
As the rat looked up at Hugh with expectation, the giant could not help but smile for the second it lasted. Serena's tiny protector still wanted to help, despite the danger. Hugh came up with a plan right then and there. He could throw the rat and potentially distract Arjan enough to make it to him in time. He could make for Serena and serve as her human shield. And with Howard right th-
Hugh stopped his train of thought and snapped his face towards the pale hunter, who seemed eager to join the siblings in the theatre of their rivalry. Why throw the rat, when he could literally throw this guy at them? "I'll get you there." The giant said, almost as if it was an order. Howard would feel himself being lifted from the ground and raised above Hugh's head. The giant's arm lunged back with power building up inside his arm, shoulder, and torso before launching Serena's personal dhampiric care-package through the air. As the energy released itself from his body, Hugh couldn't help but roar in excitement. "SERENAAAA!"

The Durmstrang smirked as the tables turned. He did not hold back as he shoved her back into the tree, still gripping her throat in a choke hold. She was so light that he managed to pick her up in one hand - or rather, he was just that strong. Of course, it was the latter. That made more sense.
Her weakass kicks hit against his chest [Evasion, First: 17 + 10 = 27 Failure | Second: 5 + 10 = 15, Failure | Third: 13 + 10 = 23, Failure | Fourth: 1 + 10 = 11, Failure || Fifth: 18 + 10 = 28, Success] as she struggled against his tightened grip digging into her neck. He could not help but smirk some more. Her kicks were so weak [Damage: 132 hp]. They lacked any real punch. There was nothing she could do now. This battle was over. He had won.
Balling up his fist, he took a swing at the little shitty gremlin with no hesitation. His eyes narrowed as she managed to kick his incoming attack to deflect it, before taking another one. He felt her ribcage crack under his knuckles, forcing them deep into her lungs. The expression on her face should have made him release but he did not care. He was furious. The bitch ruined his looks, she deserved anything he could throw her way.
Once again, the ugly goblin started to kick him weakly. Wait, goblin. Maybe she wasn't a house elf. Maybe she was a goblin... [Evasion, First: 16 + 10 = 26 Failure | Second: 9 + 10 = 19, Success | Third: 19 + 10 = 29, Success | Fourth: 9 + 10 = 19, Success | Fifth: 20 + 10 = 30, Success] It seemed like this time, she barely had the strength left to actually kick him. Her inaccuracy was getting to her. [Damage: 32 hp]
The smirk on his lips grew and he brought her forward to try and ram her once more. However, as he did, he felt his grip loosen for a split second. His eyes widened, trying to regain control of the situation but Serena had slipped right out. He took a step forward, about to grab her again but she was busy coughing up blood all over the ground. This was not over until she begged him to stop. How dare she hurt him and then live to tell the tale?
What stopped him in his tracks was a roar so loud that he could have sworn the ground below his feet shook a little. He saw something before he could react. Gritting his teeth, he steadied himself for what was about to happen. Serena was upright again, though she looked like she could barely stand and something was coming at them.
“You need backup, you weak little shit?” He snarled at her, staring in the direction of the voice, “Pft, what am I saying? Of course you do.” He continued. Well that was fine. He did not need backup. He could take whoever this guy was too. But of course the person was siding with his sister. Everyone always sided with that awful little gremlin. He knew, deep down, that she had always been their father's favourite. He had just never wanted to admit it. Arjan was shaking with anger. The truth of that stung him but he refused to show her the hurt. His throat clogged up, it was welling up and he hated that feeling. His eyes did not show the tears but he could feel himself welling up in his throat. And he hated that. He shook with anger, aggressively spitting on the ground instead as a public show of his rage. His face still stung too. Ugh. What the fuck did she do to his handsome, sexy, face?! She was so dead. If he ever saw that stupid rat, he would kill it in front of her.
