SKELETONS IN YOUR CLOSET

Having lived all her life in this very mansion, Violet was still not able to unravel all its secrets. The mansion was magical, kind of having its own lifeline, bewitched slightly by her ancestors to make the place more interesting to live in. The said girl very well knew that and it just made her more curious about the place she lived in.
One day, wandering the garden she saw a small square door near the attic that she believed sprang out of nowhere. Or maybe it had always been there and she just never noticed. Curiosity got the best of the child, quickly looking to find no adults around. She peeked inside and could see a small space, crouching down to enter it. She decided not to close the door behind her, a really wise decision she had taken in all honesty. The small room had its walls fitted with cupboards. The room had eerie silence even though the door was still open and she was still standing near it. She should have been able to hear the birds chirping outside but she couldn't as if the room absorbed all the sound. Violet entered the small space further, her skirt, already covered with mud flowing behind her. She stood in front of one of the cupboards, preparing herself for what was to come. Finally opening the cupboard, her eyes widened in horror as a skeleton leaned forward with its arms wide open, its knees moving as if it were a pendulum. Heck, she could even swear that she heard the skeleton singing. The skeleton leaned further in the small space and Violet backed away, screaming "GRANDMAMA". She crawled out of the door as fast as she could, tearing her skirt in the process. Once out, she screamed once again, "GRANDMAMA". Tears streamed down her face, her forehead beaded with sweat, her knees were shaky and blood oozed out from her scrapped ankle. Violet's grandmother came running to her and hugged her seeing her state trying to calm her baby down, asking what had happened. Violet tried to explain in between her sobs, being out of breath and pointed to the door. The difference was, there was no door there anymore.

TECHNOLOGY

"Tech-lo-gony?", Violet asked innocently, "What is that supposed to mean?"
"Technology, Violet, not Tech-lo-gony", Rhea Malhotra, her older cousin replied.
It was the long summer break after her first school year, when her mother and her were in India, visiting her Nani-Nana¹ and her cousins. However enjoyable it was, she missed her Hogwarts, and its corridors and especially her friends.
Her cousin Rhea, had made some muggle-born friend, and was continuously and hopelessly explaining about something called Tech-lo-gony, much to her Nani's disappointment and disapproval. For sure, Violet was bored of what Rhea was trying to explain and was keen on not getting disturbed in her reading time. "Rhea didi², I have to completely read the Charms textbook before I return to school. Please understand. And stop talking about Tech-lo-gony, I can't understand anything and that pains my head", Violet said firmly. "No, Vivi, you don't understand, it's Technology! And it's amazing. Like you can search anything up and play any song!" Rhea replied. "So what, didi anybody can charm a piano into playing your favourite notes, isn't that right Nani. Can we have some music please, Rhea didi is eating my head up." Violet replied rather haughtily. Her grandmother who she lovingly called Nani laughed at the two's banter and gave into Violet's request charming the Piano to play a calm tune. And then told her older cousin, "Oh Rhea, you better not get too involved with the muggles. It doesn't suit you."

FACING THE DARKNESS

Scared of the darkness, she always was,
Never realising it was all her cause.
Navigating through and with it was now her life,
All she had to do was strive.
Maybe one day she will reach the Tartarus's end,
Her heart, she will be able to mend,
Till then the shadows were her friend.

I wrote this poem in my lunch break lol. This poem is not specifically meant for my character, but maybe just everybody, every character in real life as well (I used the pronoun she but feel free to read it in a gender neutral way). We all have those sad, depressive, anxiety ridden periods in our life. It's is quite okay to feel like that, just don't let the feeling drive you. We are all scared of darkness, the darkness within, the darkness of the world but let's remember, we only get to feel the 'nice' emotions because we have faced the darker ones, otherwise we won't be able to differentiate and feel what we feel. Darkness is a phase, a state of mind that needs to be accepted, and can be navigated through with willpower and hope, the two together produce enough light to diminish the dark.

LOVE STORY

Violet's first love story started when she first time found herself exploring her mother's library. Something about the grand room itself attracted her.The high shelves, the decor and the books. Ah, the books, the fragrance of the pages smoothly mixing in with the mild fragrance of roses. The first time she had picked up a book from the shelf, the book was double, no triple, the size of her hand. She was five then, and growing up, her relationship with her books never faced ups and downs like all other relationships do. Her interest in books linearly grew with time. The first book she ever read, a muggle fantasy, 'The lion, the witch and the wardrobe', the language was not so easy to understand then but she got through it, loving the book more and more. Ever since then, she had checked all the wardrobes of her house to find a doorway to a place like Narnia.

SECRET TUNNEL

Even though Violet was a pureblood, the settlement around her was largely muggle. Being a kid, she did not understand the pureblood customs, neither did her parents imply those on her so strictly. She would always admire the muggle kids, playing games outside. However,she was not welcomed to play with them. That did not stop her from looking out from her garden, hiding behind the walls, and watch them playing games. One of them was the 'Secret tunnel'. A game in where the kids would extend that naturally made tunnel of tree with a blanket, in such a way, they could play hide and seek with that. The game looked so interesting to her, that she herself set her own 'secret tunnel' in her room with blankets and pillow and would crawl in and out of her made up tunnel. She would often call upon her house elf, Ella to play the game with her and irritated her till she gave in. Even though the tunnel was fully visible to anyone who came to the room, she had told Ella, the tunnel was a top secret and nobody should know it's location. And thus, she made sure to destroy the tunnel after every play and build it up somewhere else in her room.
