She knew nothing about muggles and their strange means of muffling audible noise. Their science was to her like their witchcraft was to them. "Their powers are beyond my scope," Erin admitted as she considered this muggle means. "Do you know muggle science?" Alex was in this particular situation the smart one. She had heard rumors about how muggles empowered the rotted flesh of long-dead reptiles to empower hunks of steal and send them hurdling across the heavens or earth faster than she could hope to ride a broom. She had heard of tiny creatures that they could see with inside of a box. They were trapped in there and they would dance and sing and play for their muggle amusement. She did not understand how they trapped them inside of there, if that was where muggles places their prisoners or their enemies that they shrunk down to size or if they were simply an unfortunate, pixie-like species that simply fit already that they would ensnare in their Tea Vee box.
"Can you put him inside a Tea Vee?" She asked after a moment's contemplation. Certainly they had to have a means to mute their prisoner's screams. "Or summon minstrels louder than him from a Sea Dee?" She considered, that being the depth of her understanding of muggle technology.

He didnt realize it just then but to Erin muggle related things are extremely foreign, as if it was a whole other world... To some extent it was, muggles have things in abundance things that only extremely accomplished wizards would hope to achieve, but that also goes the other way around. Knowing this gave Alex and people like him an edge in the wizarding world.
"Um, I know some things"
He confirmed vaguely, a kid like him wont know how things work, nothing complicated however. Though what she brought up next was a surprise, she wanted to trap Hugh in a TV? He chuckled at the idea, just bash one of those old bulky TVs on top of his head and let him walk like that, though probably in her mind she imagens it very differently.
"Um, TVs are... Erm, like... Oh! You know how the news paper has these nifty moving images of whatever picture got captured? A TV is something like that, its a recording of something that was done before in a far away place and then shown to many muggles across the world on these TVs. I don't think putting the prefect in a TV would be very, erm, useful for us..."
She then asked if we could maybe create a lot of noise instead to mask the noise Hugh would make. Not a bad idea besides the fact that it might draw a lot of attention.
"Um, a CD disk? Erm... Thats a bit harder to explain... Um, ok, so its this flat thing that stores stuff in it, erm, information of sorts and you could use them for various things if you have a muggle device that uses these. Though if you want to make a lot of noise, why not use a mandrake instead? If we pull it out, it will mask whatever you want, though our ears will hurt for weeks, are you sure its worth it?"
He pondered for a moment, he wasnt sure if the mandrake would be a good idea, after all, they couldnt hear the prefect's answers either, though she was clearly smarter than him, maybe there would be a better use for that sort of thing.

Muggle science was just... weird. "Well, what muggle things do you think we could use to silence him?" Erin would eventually ask. She was in agreement, a screaming mandrake would prevent anyone from hearing him but that might also draw more attention than she was prepared to deal with. Come to think about it, playing music really loud would have done similar.
Was there a means that they already had? That was a hard one. Something as simple as a closed door in an isolated area would be adequate, however unused spaces were rather unreliable in a setting such as this. The dungeons were likely her best bet but one of the more problematic issues would be the fact that sound travels well in those tunnels. While not commonly traversed, they ran the risk of alerting the few that did amble in proximal areas. While the call to explore would be lost to most, the dungeons were too dark and creepy, if they heard screams or cries for help it was likely someone would come running or find someone willing to come running. Then their efforts would be for nothing. She had no idea how many of the Professors were in on it; she was certain more than a few of the students were knowledgeable as well.
"Could just use a sock I guess," she verbally considered but seemed dissatisfied with that conclusion. She did not want to use her socks, she liked them. And he was huge, how many socks would she have to relinquish. "No, I want to keep my socks," she decided. "Actually... Muggle things..." Her eyes lit up. "Have you gotten one of those forged permission ships from Diagon Alley?" Probably not, he seemed to lack a knack for most wizarding things, he had just gotten out of the habit of calling this place "Hagwarts" "I got one some time ago, been sneaking out to Hogsmede on the weekends," one of the reasons she has been less preasant. "They have this place... sells muggle things. They sell this stuff called Wizard Tight." She did not know how to adequately describe the stuff, it was rather ingenious. "It-it is this uh sticky, pliable stuff that can hold things together. It is clear and strong. If we got enough it might even hold him down too." She theorized, describing a roll of tape.

Alex pondered for a while at Erin's question, what muggle things COULD they use. Making elaborate changes to rooms or bringing in something mechanical would be out of the question, not that Alex had the ability, resource or access to anything like that anyway, he didn't even really understand how half of these things really work, just the base concept of them. She then proposed to use a sock, well, socks can be useful to mute him, or muffle him at the very least if they were to stuff it into his mouth... The thought just went through his head and he got grossed out thinking of an old used sock being used for the operation. He shook his head, getting back into focus, apparently the sock plan was a no go because she didn't want to part with hers, he honestly didn't want to give away socks either, not his at least.
But then she seemed to have gotten an idea, she mentioned some sort of a fake pass, he had no idea what it even was, but apparently she used to it sneak around to a placed called Hogsmede. He never heard of that place before but it didn't really surprise him that much either, he still had a lot to learn about the castle, let alone its surroundings. Regardless, Alex kinda now wanted to have one of these, he was curious what that Hogsmede place was, could be fun sneaking out to a wizarding place that is not Hogwarts. She then described what would be basically tape.
"So, wizard tight you said, usually comes in a cylinder, yeah? That's just duck tape."
He only realized after saying this, that to him it was a whole of a lot more obvious than her, she after all was a pureblood, from his readings he learned that they're pretty much completely cut off from the muggles by choice, it makes perfect sense that she wouldn't know something as basic as simple tape.
"Um, I mean, that stuff is pretty common, and the plastic ones can work if we use enough, we'd probably want to buy a bunch though. Using a couple of layers wont stop a kid. Though, if you were to roll them horizontally it'd still to itself and would pretty much be like a wire, a fairly flimsy one but it could work, you could stick it over his mouth too, if he cant use his hands, he cant pull it off."
This should work, the plan started to come together though, that would really work if they catch him by surprise or him already being caught, that's the tricky part. Also bringing him to an isolated location, if they want to make him talk and break a couple of rules while doing so, simply tying him up in the middle of the hallway wont do them much good, they'd be caught instantly, and Hugh might... No, he surely would fight back. They could... Trap him while he's sleeping though...
"Um, what if we were to... Sneak into the dorms while he's sleeping and catch him there? We could use the du-- I mean wizard tight to tie him in his bed sheets, sort of like a cacoon, escaping that is going to be pretty hard I bet, since he's asleep, we probably could steal his wand too... Maybe we could make him sleepy with a potion or something? So that he wont wake up as easily?"
Many thoughts went through his mind and he was just recklessly just thinking aloud with pretty much no restriction, its likely Erin noticed too, though to his memory he never actually planned anything with her before, that for sure all on its own is a scary thought, him following a similar mindset as Erin, who knows, maybe he had some defect about him too, or maybe he is just easily influenced by her.

"Why would ducks have a special tape?" Erin inquired, her mouth cocked to the side. Weird. "Pretty sure it is muggle tape of some sort," she clarified as if that made some sort of difference. "How much do you think we will need?" It was an important question, procuring the supply would be difficult and she would need to make sure that they had enough. "Should get a few test rolls," she stated out loud although she intended to buy out the entire stock. She would have to test the tensile strength of the tape somehow, she was not going to take any changes with Lowe. She could not sense anything in him and that concerned her even more than his size -- she simply could not read that liar.
Alex would go on and start considering the how and the when he would be captured. That they would take him while he was sleeping. It would be expected that Hugh would be fast asleep in the Gryffindor boy's dorm, two levels of security and she feared that was too many layers for her to navigate because she was likely only going to get a single chance at this. "He is not a Slytherin, I would not be able to get in his house. Or in his room for that matter," Erin reasoned. "I don't know if you could take him if she started fighting back before you were ready."
There was the consideration of a sleeping potion of some sort, "but where would we get that?" She did not know any good or even mediocre potions that could put someone to sleep. "What about butter beer?" She inquired. Whenever she drank a few butter beers she got sleepy, she also staggered a fair amount but she usually slept where she landed. Butter beer was why she snuck out with the forged permission slip. That was something she had on her in fact. She would withdraw a bottle of butter beer from her belongings. It did not take much for someone like her to feel the effects, she was barely one-hundred pounds. The Prefect, on the other hand, was another concern entirely. He was a lot bigger than her and she was not entirely certain how much their size difference would effect the quantity one would have to consume before they became inebriated and if everyone experienced the same dull sleepiness she felt after a pint. (Yes, a pint...)
"Want some, I got it from Hogsmede," she offered the bottle. Erin was a terrible influence and that fact was not going to end today.

Just for a moment there, Erin took him by surprise, her comment about the ducks confused him until he started recalling how she got to that conclusion... Duck Tape, at first he though she was trying to be funny, but then he realized that this might actually be a language barrier, muggle speech versus wizard speech. While the majority is pretty much the same, there are some nuances which make the difference, in a way its as if they were talking in two versions of slang to each other. He chuckled again
"Yeah, Muggle Tape, thats basically what it is, we call it Duck Tape there, don't know why"
He confirmed though then the subject of quantity came to play, it really depended on the type of tape they had access to, if they only sell the paper tape, they'll need a lot of them, they tear very easily, thats the point after all. On the other hand, there are some elastic types which could be great, the plastic ones would be the best really, but he wont know until he'd see it in person.
"Um... I'm not sure, I'd need to see what kind of tape they got there beforehand. Though yeah, we'd need to get some test rolls regardless to see how durable they can get."
There seemed to be a sort of understanding between them, though for whatever reason Alex never stopped and asked himself whether or not it was okay to do that sort of thing to another person, he was so drawn into her scheme that all he could think of now was the logistics of it all. Though then she would make a good point, while Alex had access to the dorms, Erin didnt, sneaking her in wont be easy either because of the painted lady, she would tell on him for sure and even if they had found another way, the dorm rooms are not exactly private, there would be many witnesses and even if every single one of them were both present and asleep, some might wake up because of the pair.
"I mean, I never met the guy, besides, you underestimate me, I could surprise you with my brutish ways"
He made a joke, a bad one but thats the only thing that came to mind at the time, he was a honest kid but even the most honest person wanted to boast from time to time, even if they had to stretch the truth a little, he got into fights when he was young but he was no street brawler nor was he a martial artists, if the guy was bigger and stronger than him, then Alex likely would lose in a fair fight. Though then a new thing came out of her mouth, some sort of beer of batter? maybe it was beer made of butter? He only heard of the product "beer", he knew that adults loved it and that kids cant have it. Maybe the name was made to spice things up when it was okay for children to drink. And then, just like that, she produced a bottle of the stuff right on the spot, appearently she carried it with her all along. It would surprise Alex if it was litterally anyone else, but it somehow made sense that Erin would have that sort of thing, after all, just minutes ago he caught her with a pencil, though now he connected the dots and figured she got it from that Hogsmede place. She then offered the bottle to him, he figured it might be the only one she had and she seemed to like the stuff, so he figured they might as well share it.
"Um, yeah, why not..."
He would take the bottle from her and open the lid, the smell was different for sure, her never smelled anything quite like it, he inspected the liquid cautiously and then took a sip. He liked it, it tasted a little bitter but also a little sweet. He took another sip and then another, after the third he extended his hand, twisting his wrist to make the bottle point to her diagonally in a gesture to offer her the drink.
"I like it, its pretty good, here have some too"
He made the gesture without a second thought, a natural process for this sort of situation. Alex didn't view Erin as a girl after all, to him she was more like one of his guy friends back at home, and currently the only person he would truely consider a friend in school too, he wasn't shy around her, he spoke his mind quite frankly in fact and she might have took advantage of that, maybe in the future as well, though even if she has, he wouldn't know, he is not aware of such a thing happening. Alex at that point still didn't notice but the butter beer already started to take its effect, in a very minor way, but something was happening to him nonetheless.

He tried to explain the tape thing. It seemed weird, like a lie. Why would anyone add a name that was not a descriptor. Of course, the reason she did not understand was because the term was duct tape not duck tape at some point but the term had changed over the years to become the present day word. Not that the name really mattered, the important question was the how. There were some logistical issues that they needed to contend with -- the Prefect belonged to the Gryffindork house and the male dorm. That was two layers of security, she truly doubted she would be able to get in there without the fat lady noticing or one of the boys noticing the stand out.
She was far from a coward but she also understood the basics of -- he was a lot bigger than her, Even if she could overpower him and the prideful part of her believed that she could, she would not be able to transport the felled Prefect. That was of course what accomplices were for, of course if she were to believe Alex, he could handle Hugh on his own. She had no reason to not believe him despite the fact that she had never seen him raise his fists to... well... anything. She was not even certain he could raise his voice, but she had felt just that one time a rush of anger that made her toes curl.
That was when she thought about forcing the slumber upon him. She did not have access to any spells or potions that would force him under, but she was familiar with a single substance that when consumed in a great enough of a quantity would induce a lethargy upon him. There was the consideration that perhaps he would require a larger quantity of butter-beer than most if the dosage was weight dependent.
That was sadly where Alex came in.
She was dosing him, not for harm but for something almost akin to muggle science. The quantity she provided him with was more than what would have been necessary to effect her, but she was smaller than Alex and there were conceivable metabolic differences between the girl and the pre-teen boy. She did not know but she was about to find out.
She would accept the bottle back, take a single swig. The contents were for him to trial before she wordlessly returned the bottle to the Gryffindor. "You should join me in Hogsmede, I can get you a slip," she was referring to the fake permission slip she had made use of. [Sent one] Once the bottle was in his hands and near his mouth, she would tip the bottom as if to encourage him to have another drink. "Tell me when you get dizzy," she announced as she nodded in the direction of the bottle. She was not trying to hide the fact that she was trying to make him drunk. "I want to know how good you are at running and aiming," she was assessing the effects of alcohol on Alex, yes in a way he was a test subject in this 'harmless' experiment.

The girl was definitely not shy, she took a swig from the bottle Alex was drinking from and then passed it back to him. He drank a bit more right after, she then asked him if he wants to come to Hogsmede with her, it must have been a rhetorical question
"Yeah, that'd be awesome"
He immediately replied, a bit of enthusiasm in his voice, though then she asked him to tell her when he starts feeling dizzy. That question was alarming, he didn't think that there was something wrong with the drink itself but rather that she might have pranked him and done something to the drink.
"Wha--... What did you do to it?"
He immediately assumed it was her fault somehow, never crossing his mind that it might contain alcohol, as a matter of fact he never drank before so he cannot even conceive the concept. He would look at the bottle cautiously again and shrug
"Alright, whatever"
He took another swig from the bottle. It was great, the taste was so unique, so vibrant he just wanted to drink more of it. He could see why she loves this stuff, it was great. But after a short while he noticed something, the grip at his hand slipped and he stumbled, almost falling down, he readjusted his hand and got his head back up. Something was different but he couldnt exactly pinpoint what it is. He took another swig, the bottle nearly empty, he looked at her, she was moving a bit, just slightly to the left every now and again, that was for sure a sign of dizziness.
"Umm... I think... That I'm... Dizzy now..."
The kid could not handle alcohol at all, then again, he wasnt much of a drinker, this was his first encounter with alcohol after all.

She was serious about dragging him to Hogsmede, he was the closest thing she had to a friend. The boy was likely deaf and blind to not avoid her like the rest of the students rightfully did. It was not a crush or anything like that. He was a mixed breed and she knew the rules, but there was nothing wrong with having a bro besides her actual brother. She did not consider passing a bottle back and forth to have anything to do with extroversion.
"Yeah, that'd be awesome"
He would find a falsified permission slip in his bag sometime before the end of the week. She was going to hold him to that. "Awesome," she echoed.
The butterbeer was taking effect pretty quickly, but the boy did chug a sizable bottle (lets at least claim so for the sake of alcohol content). His bladder the real hero, his hidden superpower.
"Wha--... What did you do to it?"
"Nothing," she protested. She should have been hurt by his initial, immediate impulse to assume she had somehow tampered with his drink. Maybe she was, a bit. She would never admit it, not even to herself.
"Alright, whatever"
She frowned. Dick she mentally complained. Not that this interaction would be a loss, she mentally measured his consumption of the amber, frothy fluid. He was starting to lose his bearings. A state verbally confirmed.
"Umm... I think... That I'm... Dizzy now..."
"Good," she replied as she attempted to take the near empty bottle. How much had he ingested? Almost all of it was the answer. She would have reacted earlier than him, this was an important thing to take note of. A biological difference in the amount necessary to take effect. "Can you try to run?" She did not care if he could walk a straight line, she wanted to know if he could run away. If he could escape. If so, how well. Would she be faster?
Erin would stand up, visually assessing his carriage. "I want to try to catch you," that was blunt but she was not lying. It was not like he was blackout drunk, he was going to remember this and she had no want to make an enemy out of her only thus far assured ally.
