She couldn’t believe someone had actually spoken to her! At her old school, everyone had been too afraid to even sit by her. This, this magical girl had chosen to move by her, and it was amazing. The girl looked nice enough. She actually looked pretty tough. My type of girl, Julian decided.

She felt a strange sense of nervousness. She couldn’t scare away this other girl. She’d spent a long time being pushed away; she didn’t want to scare anyone else away. Could this girl... could she actually... maybe be her friend? This was a make it or break it moment, and she couldn’t afford to botch this opportunity.

She nervously picked at her bread. Her stomach swirled uncomfortably. She wasn’t sure why this was so important to her- she’d have other opportunities, surely, but her stomach proved it was. Ah, what the hell. She wasn’t used to be nervous. This was so weird. She’d just plow ahead, ignoring her nerves. Now was the moment.

“Oh, hey! I’m Julian.” Julian introduced herself. Dread curled in her gut as she waited for the other girl, Ogla, to reject her as so many others had before.

Ogla smirked. Why was this girl nervous? She wasn't even trying to be intimidating, and she had no bad intentions, just wanted to speak to someone. Back home she mostly stayed in her Uncle's isolated house in the woods, finding friends over the internet and communicating that way. Making friends in real life was different but at least she was trying.

Gryffindors, she found out, we're usually really nice people, if you didn't test their patience. That's why Ogla liked being this House. She'd heard someone say that they thought she'd get into Slytherin, and she guessed that'd be correct if you just judge by her looks. Her buzz cut hair and smirk probably gave off a Slytherin demeanor but she thought she was doing pretty well in her current House, at least so far.

Ogla frowned at hearing the girl's name. She was pretty sure that was a boy name, but whatever. She shrugged and went to take a drink. “Nice name, I guess. So, where are you from?” She asked, mildly curious. She doubt anyone was from Limerick, Ireland, around here like her. Her own accent was noticable Irish, but sometimes she could fake a good English one if she tried, not that she was doing that now.

“Ogla Crocorith is her name, and tomfoolery isn't her game.”

upon hearing the sorting hat yell Gryffindor, Aj felt a sense of relief rush through her body. She had been worried that the sorting hat would have yelled something else, but pushing away the ridiculous fear she felt, she slowly stood from the stool and turned towards the Gryffindor table. Aj felt herself smile for the first time in hours, her face brightening to a soft pink as she listened to all of the cheers coming from the Gryffindor table.

"Welcome dork!"
her older twin brothers yelled as she approached them. Archie, the eldest one of the two, moved over to let her sit between the two to of them
"Congrats! we had no doubts!"

"I did..."
Aj spoke softly, playing nervously with her cloak as she looked around the table. her family had come from a long line of Gryffindor's and being the only female born into the family in decades, her family kinda held her higher than others, so being put into Gryffindor wasn't just simple like it was to others, it was practically her duty.
"But..."

she took a deep breath and smiled happily
"i'm here now and I wont let any thoughts soil this moment!"

I picked up a goblet and held it up, smiling as others around me did it as well

After taking a seat next to several other first years. Lachlan looked around, “Hello all. My name is Lachlan, Lachlan Morrison.” He said to the others around him. His voice was even and came out with the usual light Scottish brogue tainted with a very slight Icelandic accent. “I look forward to learning with you all!” He smiled before grabbing a large drumstick (he hoped it was chicken) and biting into it. “The food is delicious!” He exclaimed. Normally Lachlan wasn’t the most talkative person but he wanted to make an effort now to be friendly.

He talked idly with others around him about what courses they were excited to take, what is their favorite spell, and what they were most excited to do at Hogwarts. Of course, Lachlan didn’t know any spells so he just nodded in silence when asked. When somebody by him toasted to Gryffindor he did the same and raised a Goblet that was filled with orange juice, a personal favorite of his. He also noticed a girl with some piercing in her ear talking to a girl that seemed a bit uncomfortable. Despite his façade he too was a bit uncomfortable with it all. He was in completely new territory far away from home. Despite this he tried to not show it, in his opinion he was doing a good job. The tapping of his fingers on the table might give him away. Before he could linger on the subject he changed his thoughts to Dragons which, ironically, calmed him down.

Madelyn sat down at the Gryffindor table with a diminishing sense of trepidation, still feeling the adrenaline that washed over her during the course of her sorting. “Mom and Dad are going to be really happy about this,” she thought to herself as she took a bite out of a pastry that subtly reminded her of Cambridge. “They got their wish. I’m in Gryffindor now, just like they were. I guess things could be a lot worse.”

Turning her head left and right to get a good look at those sitting around her, Madelyn took another bite out of the pastry and would occasionally greet her new classmates. “Hi, I’m Madelyn...but you can call me Maddy. It’s nice to meet you.” The atmosphere seemed to be filled with overwhelming jubilance, and this caused her to let her guard down a little more.

“Everyone seems pretty nice here. Some of them look kind of disappointed, but I guess I can’t blame them for that.” Taking a sip of apple juice out of her goblet, Madelyn looks up at the ceiling again, eyes following the candles floating carelessly by. “The next few years are going to be awesome. Maybe a little scary, but definitely awesome. I wonder if I’ll be able to make any friends this year? Can’t say I know very many witches or wizards.”

Eloise takes her seat, receiving several pats on the backs and introduction from others sitting at her table on the way. It took longer than she'd expected to find an open seat. The benches were crowded, more so than it'd seemed from the stool, where seconds before she'd been deemed a Gryffindor.

She wished to talk to somebody, but she was terrible at starting conversation. It was a matter of getting somebody's attention that she was terrible at. It was easy to just walk up somebody, state your name, and go from there. Eloise never knew if she was interrupting something or if it was a good time to talk.

As the rest of the first years were sorted into their houses, Eloise studied the Great Hall. The ceiling had to be her favorite. She knew that it wasn't real; she'd read about it, but it fascinated her. It made her feel comfortable in her new school. The candles truly helped with that aspect. Eloise aboslutely adored candles.

When the last student was sorted, an incredible feast appeared on the table. Trays upon trays of food lined the table. Endless possibilities made it hard to choose. In the end, though, Eloise settled with french fries and chicken. She was a very picky eater, so she hoped that meals wouldn't become a problem. As she dug into her plate, her tastebuds watered with delicious, savory flavors.

Georgia joined the table to a warm welcome, nodding and smiling at the greetings as she found an empty seat amongst the other first years. She wanted to introduce herself and talk to the others, get to know her new housemates, but she felt that would be impolite while the Sorting Ceremony was still taking place. She watched with rapt attention, cheering and applauding when new students joined their ranks.

She gasped in awe and surprise when food appeared on their tables, her eyes practically bulging out of her head. Remembering her present company, Georgia blushed, trying to maintain her composure. She didn't want everyone to know she had barely seen magic before today! What if she was the only one? It would be so embarrassing to be caught out.

Taking cue from her housemates, Georgia piled her plate high with the tastiest food she could find--slices of cooked chicken breast, freshly roasted potatoes, Yorkshire puddings, gravy, and so forth. She wondered how drinks worked and was extremely pleased to find that her goblet was filled with fresh, zesty pink lemonade. Unable to stop herself, she said, "This is amazing!"

She was too hungry to be embarrassed this time, and eagerly tucked in to her meal. When she'd eaten a few bites, she turned to her nearest companion and said, "Hi! I'm Georgia Chapman! This place is so cool, isn't it?"

Elliot hurried over to the Gryffindor and sat in the closest available spot. Her mind was a whirl. Between the long train ride and the excitement of the sorting ceremony Elliot had hardly stopped to think. Wow I'm in Gryffindor! she thought to her self in amazement. Looking down she thought, But my mothers letter said I'd be in Slytherin like her and the rest of our family. I wonder what that means. Slightly confused, she looked around the table.
The other Gryffindor first years were buzzing with excitement. Elliot giggled in surprise as food filled the table, and for the first time she realized how hungry she was. Grabbing as many tasty looking things as her plate could hold she began to 'dig in.' The food was delicious and Elliot was starving, so before very long her plate was empty again.
"Are we allowed seconds?" she asked to know one in particular. Receiving no definitive answer, Elliot began to fill her plate once more.

Suddenly the girl to Elliot's right turned to her and said:
Hi! I'm Georgia Chapman! This place is so cool isn't it?
Looking up from her replenished plate Elliot grinned at her neighbor. "The coolest!! I'm Elliot Gwyn Thatcher, but you can call me Elli! Or Gwyn. Or Elliot. Whatever you want really as long as it isn't mean." Still grinning Elliot held out her hand to shake Georgia's.

Leila was stunned that she was a Gryffindor. She hadn't believed that she would be. She assumed she would be going into Hufflepuff as her brothers had always teased. She heard the claps from the Gryffindor table and hurried over, feeling very small compared to many of the others in the hall. She sat down next to a small girl. The girl made no effort to introduce herself so Leila began looking up at the staff table and around the hall. She noticed some teachers who she recognized from her brothers' explanations. Once the Sorting was over, the food appeared on the table. The girl next to her began piling lots of food onto her place. Leila followed her lead, seeing several dishes she had never seen before.

Leila began to eat as soon as her place was filled up. 'The food was delicious!' she thought happily.

She heard the girl next to her introduce herself to another girl across the table. The girl next to her was Elliot and the one across from her was Georgia.

Leila looked up from her food and smiled shyly at the two. "I'm Leila Katz. I was never expecting to come into Gryffindor, were you two?"

As Hannah made her way down to the table she overheard the conversation that was taking place it made her think "Did the sorting hat made a mistake with me?" she thought to herself. "Hello everyone she said as she sat down
