Rustling Leaves
Sylvie took Alex's hand, finally being able to get up out of the snow. She brushed herself off, but she was still shivering. "Hehe, thanks Alex." She said reaching into her bag and pulling out a fuzzy blanket. It wasn't the one she was sitting on. This one was navy and was very furry and soft to the touch. Sylvie liked to use this blanket a lot, even if it wasn't cold. "Yeah, I should've known better. It was probably the fact I've never come in contact with a thestrals and the fact I can't really see it." She said, feeling snowflakes falling onto her.
She looked up and closed her eyes, feeling them touch her face. It felt nice, even though it was cold. She looked over at Alex. The boy seemed kind and pretty smart, which was good. Sylvie didn't enjoy talking to dumb people much unless they were working to become smarter. She found they usually don't have any interesting to say. So far she hadn't met anyone who seemed dumb though... "Also, why are you down here so late. I've been out here for an hour or so, and haven't seen you, so you must've just come out." She said, raising one of her eyebrows slightly as she did so.

She said, raising one of her eyebrows slightly as she did so.

Alex rolled his eyes with a smile. ”No problem, just don’t do that again.” he said, lightly smacking her head playfully. Alex raised an eyebrow at her comment. ”Sylvie, I’m not blaming you. You can’t see it, and that’s a good thing. It’s your first time, did I think that something like this would happen? Yes. Nothing serious of course, thestrals are peaceful. Unless you’re injured. Are you injured?” he said tilting his head to the side. He saw her take out a fluffy navy blue blanket. She looked up and closed her eyes. Alex tilted his head and looked up at the snow, the small flakes landing on his long eyelashes. It was truly beautiful outside. He brushed some of the snow out of his face and shivered. As beautiful as it might be, it was steadily getting colder as it got later. He looked back down at Sylvie as she asked him what he was doing out here. His face got a bit redder. ”U-um, well, I mean....” he hated talking about his problems. It just made him more anxious and uncomfortable. He brushed his hair out of his face again. A nervous habit. He really didn’t want to say, maybe if she kept on prying he would.

Sylvie giggled when Alex smacked her on the head. It seemed like a friendly gesture of sorts. She'd seen her friend Andy do it to the boys in their friend group from time to time. Now that she thought about it, he'd done it to her couple of times too. "No, no, no I'm perfectly fine! I'm not hurt at all. The snow broke my fall. I'm just a bit cold is all. Actually, I'm really cold but this blanket helps. Are you cold?" She asked, noticing he was shivering.
Her cheeks turned slightly redder then they already were. He seemed uncomfortable. She took a deep breath and tried to pretend she wasn't embarrassed and having a slight panic attack. "Oh no, he seems uncomfortable. I shouldn't've asked that question. It's probably uncomfortable for him talk about it. Oh no I wonder what happened. I shouldn't ask anymore. I should apologize." "I'm sorry if that question made you uncomfortable. You don't have to tell me about it if you don't want to. It's perfectly fine." She put her arms behind her back smiling while she dug her nails into her left arm. This was something she did when she was nervous or angry. She didn't know really know why she did this, but it didn't really hurt at this point.

Alex sent her a lopsided grin as Sylvie giggled. He hoped that he didn't hit her too hard. I mean, that probably couldn't happen, Alex was quite weak, to be honest. He made up for it in speed though. He turned back to the girl and she asked Alex if he was cold. Of course he was, but he didn't want to burden her, so he just stood there shivering. "No, it's alright, I'm not that cold. I'm glad you're okay though." he said with a smile. The 'Him not being cold' statement was a big fat lie. He ignored it. He usually did this. He hid his feelings so he wouldn't burden anyone with taking care of him, the pathetic creature. He looked back at Sylvie, and she apologized for asking him what he was doing out here at this hour. He smiled, still a bit uncomfortable and his face was still red with embarrassment. He was sure she didn't mean to do this to him. Should he tell her? She seemed nice enough. "Oh no, it's totally fine. I could tell you if you'd like. I don't mind that much." he said, rambling a bit. He didn't want her to be upset with herself.

Sylvie noticed Alex shivering and frowned. It was obvious he was lying, but she wasn’t about to be a huge hypocrite and say that lying is wrong, that you should always be honest, and all that other stuff. Instead she just pulled a blanket out of her bag and threw it on his head, not doing it hard enough for it to hurt him. “Take this you liar,” she said, a slight grin forming on her face. “I have plenty in my bag. You never know when you’ll need to make a blanket fort!”
Sylvie smiled warmly and her face seemed to glow a bit when Alex offered to tell her. She was happy that he some what trusted her, if not completely. After all, trust is something that is built over a long period of time, not a few minutes or how ever long they’d been out there. “Well actually...” Sylvie pulled the blanket tighter around her, “You can decide. I know I have some things that I like to keep private. If this is one of those things, then I don’t want you to feel like you have to tell me about it, but if you want to talk I am here.” The air around them felt tense, and she pretended that she didn’t notice it.

Alex noticed Sylvia frown. ”What?” he said before he felt a fluffy thing flop on his head, making him see pitch black. He started to laugh and smiled, although Sylvia couldn’t see it. He pouted after that and wrapped the blanket around himself, only his head visible, the rest was covered with blanket (yay being short). ”I have no idea what you’re talking about.” he said, pouting and turning his head away. And Alex, looking like a fluffy potato, waddled over to Sylvie. ”Yeah, I don’t carry many things. It just becomes a burden and it gets heavy and I want to put it down.” he said with a small smile. It faded as Sylvie said something about why he was here. ”That’s very kind of you. The people I know would pry it out of me to be honest,” he chuckled slightly. ”I love them to death though, my brother especially. He always wants to help me, so that’s why he would ask me. But I’ll tell you, it doesn’t really matter anyways.” he said, shrugging his shoulders. He trusted Sylvie. She seemed nice enough. He hoped that he’d found a new friend. He was hoping that she didn't hate him. He was annoying to himself.

“Uh huh, yeah. Oh course you don’t.” She said sarcastically, “Tell me that when you aren’t obviously shivering!” Sylvie giggled as Alex pouted and waddled over to her. He reminded her of a very VERY fluffy penguin, especially with the waddling.
“It doesn’t really weigh that much since a very nice witch at Diagon Alley enchanted it so I could fit all of my books and stuff.” Sylvie smiled fondly at her bag, which she seemed to carry around with her everywhere she went. It was very useful. The only problem was that it took a while to find the things she was looking for. Hey, it was better then walking around with the weight of ten or twenty books pressing down on her shoulders.
“Well, as an older sibling myself, I tend to pry at my sister a lot. I’m always worried about how she’s doing without me there.” Sylvie’s dad was never home, so she and Crystal used to spend a lot of the week by themselves. Now Sylvie wasn’t there, Crystal would be alone at the house. Sylvie heard Alex day he would tell her. “Okay! Trust me Alex, I’m not going to go around Hogwarts telling people about this. I honestly don’t have that many close friends to tell stuff too” Well, Svie technically did have friends but not that many close ones that she talked to often.
