Fallen souls
Alexei carefully navigated her way to the tower door, quietly pushing it open. She softly closes it behind her, gulping lungfuls of fresh air. Almost as if in a trance, she walked to the edge of the tower, pressing against the edge. A cold breeze slices through the tower, making the jacketless girl shiver. Alexei gazes down at the grounds. "So this is where it happened..." she murmured. She navigates her way to the top of the wall, using loose bricks and the such as hand/footholds. Zander sits on the edge, swinging her legs over the empty drop. She toys with her wand, such a beautiful one too. Humming 'Broken Dancer' she kicks her legs against the hard stone behind her, her head tilted back, breathing in the sharp air. She is glad for this tower. Such a silent, usually empty place for her to think. And she'd been thinking much more lately. About her House, the people around her, and most importantly, herself.
To those mean thoughts in my head:
Please, shut up already
I am me, and that is enough

Fallen souls
Shay sneaked to the Astronomy tower. When she reached the door, she checked behind her to make no one had followed. She pulled her wand out. Her brother had taught her part of a spell called incendio, she couldn't cast the actual spell, of course, but she could cast something that provided enough heat that could melt metal. She whispered, "incendio", which a little flame popped at the end of her wand. It was just a baby flame, nothing more. Shay knew what incendio looked like, and what she just did wasn't it. Shay held her wand near the little lock on the wooden door, watching the metal melt like ice cream on a hot day. Finally, there was nothing but a few metal stains. She'd brought an extra lock to replace it with when she needed to go out.
Shay rushed up the stairway and reached the door to the top of the tower. Then, as silently as she could, she swung the door open. The breeze pushed her, but she pushed back. Her feet moved on their own and stepped out onto the open stone tower floor. Her hair went dancing. Her shirt and sweater were pulled back. And her ribbon tied around her neck waved. Shay looked up at the night sky, eyes wide open. The stars and constellations gleamed brightly in patterns.
When she heard about an area that was close and open to the sky, she just had to check it out, even if it was off limits. She hadn't seen the night sky up close since she left home. Sure she got glances from windows here and there, but not a whole panel. She remembered the door was still open, she turned left and shut it. She used a simple spell to relock it too, to lower suspicion from the staff. Shay took a quick glance around to make sure there weren't any cats or owls or anything that could've seen her.
Behind Shay, she heard humming familiar to the tune to "Broken Dancer". She turned around. There, was a girl with long straight brown hair, sitting up top the stone walls, bent backward, and fiddling with her wand. Shay froze. The girl must've seen her come up here, swinging the doors open. How could Shay have made herself more obvious?
"Um, hello there..."Shay said quietly.

No matter what people say, you're beautiful just the way you are. You don't have to change to fit in, just be yourself. People who want to be friends with you when you're your true self are real friends.

Fallen souls
Alexei started, nearly falling as she heard Shay's gentle whisper. She swung her self back over the wall, landing with a *thump* in a crouching cat position. Zander looked frightened, readying her wand, glaring at Shay.
"How did you get up here? I know I locked that door." She prowled back and forth, still nearly pressed against the wall. "Did a Professor send you after me? The headmaster perhaps?" She kept glancing at her left arm, which had intricate writings on it. It seemed to be almost carved in her skin. She glared distrustfully at this new arrival, muttering the words on her arm.
Alexei's cheeks were wet like she had been crying. Her eyes were rimmed in thin cattail eyeliner with silvery blue eyeshadow, which was smudged. Her hand was so tightly grasping her wand, her knuckles were white. There was a faint indention on her wrists, almost like a thin line. She glanced down, quickly wiped her eyes and continued to prowl back and forth. Zanders' eyes kept flicking between the script on her arm and the girl standing by the tower door. "I won't hesitate to hex you. You'd best go back and tell whoever sent you that I wasn't up here."

"How did you get up here? I know I locked that door." The girl said, side-stepping in a square. Shay opened her mouth but got interrupted.
"I won't hesitate to hex you. You'd best go back and tell whoever sent you that I wasn't up here." The girl was chanting words that seemed to be engraved in her arm. Shay usually knew a strange looking language, but, this one she couldn't figure out what it was supposed to be. The girl raised her wand as she pointed it to Shay. Shay lifted her hands.
"Don't worry! No one sent me here, I swear! I just heard about this place and wanted to check it out, even though it's off limits." Shay whispered on that last part. But, really, no one sent me! I came here on my own choices. I just wanted to see the moon. I didn't notice you at first too." Shay could see the girl's shoulders relax a little, but were still stiff with suspicion.
Shay slowly walked over to the stone wall opposite the girl. She faced the girl, leaning against the wall. They both stared at each other for an uncomfortable amount of time. Finally, when the girl seemed just relaxed enough to not attack Shay, she broke the ice. "So, what's your name? I'm Shay, Shay Hickerson."
