Classes were over and I wanted to go out for a walk by the lake. I had been at Hogwarts for about half a year now but I had never actually seen the Great Lake up close yet. Rumour has it that there's a squid living in there. Up in Gryffindor tower of course I'd seen it. It was kinda hard to miss and also during the boat ride. I guess that was pretty up close but it was pitch black and I couldn't see a thing. When I got outside the cold air pinched my face. I quickly jammed my hands into my cloak. I thought London was cold but the Scottish weather just takes it to whole other level.
I was coming up on the lake and it wasn't really as impressive as I thought. It just looked like a normal freshwater lake. I had seen other students swim in it before but I wasn't even gonna think about that unless it was over 25 degrees. I knelt down slowly and plunged my hand in the murky water. It was cold. I quickly pulled it and it was red from the coldness. I wiped the water on my pants and quickly put my hand back into my cloak. Lily had finished all her classes on Friday the 23rd of February. It had been a boring day inside as always...same things different spells and classes. Lily was definitely getting into the phase of boredom in classes. Or maybe her brother was just rubbing of her too much. It had been a rough week. She hadn't been able to spend time with her boyfriend, Bailey, at all this week. Their schedules just never seemed to match up. But that was expected. He was a first year Slytherin. She was a second year Gryffindor with more homework. It was upsetting but they would probably hang out this weekend anyway.
After she dropped her books and bag off at her dorm, she bundled herself up in a light pink coat and walked outside. The cold air hit her in the air and she almost changed her mind. But she trudged on. She had a goal to at least walk around the lake at least once a day. So she continued walking down to the make. She had barely been down there a minute when a boy that she would guess he was about her age but she wasn't completely sure. He stood by the side of the lake and she watched him for a bit. She nearly laughed when he stuck his hand in the water and pulled it right back out. Lily stepped towards him. "It's quite cold. I think my brother once tried to swim in the lake. Maybe not in the winter but he did."She laughed at the ridiculousness of her brother. Colin had gotten a detention for it.

"It's quite cold. I think my brother once tried to swim in the lake. Maybe not in the winter but he did." said a voice behind me.
I turned around to see a girl with ginger hair and freckles with amusing look on her face. I think I've seen her before in common room from time to time and also Simon's birthday party. Things were kind of fuzzy but I believe her name was Lily. Of course it couldn't have been in winter. You'd be mad for doing that in this weather. Then of course some students were mad as I had seen them swimming in February from my dorm window. That's a rare perk of being high up in Gryffindor tower.
"Believe it our not, I think I saw some students swimming in it not so long ago. My name's Alejandro by the way." I replied to her.
I was definitely regretting not putting on some gloves before coming out. The fact that it was cold and windy was making it worse. I was definitely looking forward to dinner where I could have some hot soup. Rumour has it that there was a giant squid living in the lake. I'm not sure if its real or not.
