A New Place
there is no path to happiness, happiness is the pathSelf | Someone else | ThoughtsThat morning, Everly had expected to open her eyes and see the familiar Ilvermorny dormitory she'd woken up in nearly every day of the school year in. Instead, she woke up and found herself in her temporary lodging area in Hogwarts. She was exhausted and confused. She sat up and rubbed her eyes, trying to get herself to fully wake up. When she did, she suddenly remembered she wasn't in Ilvermorny anymore, that she was in Hogwarts.
She sighed, got out of bed, changed, and left.
She hadn't had much time to explore the new school. It was much different from Ilvermorny (as expected.) So that was what she was going to do. Explore Hogwarts, and then eventually find somewhere to draw. Back at home, she spent a lot of her time sketching and painting.
She walked around, exploring the inside of Hogwarts. It was huge, and she found it hard to navigate. (although she had never been good at navigating in the first place.)
Eventually, she made her way outside. It was beautiful. The water of the lake was shining, even on the cloudy morning. The orange, brown, and red leaves were crunching under her feet as she crossed the grounds. The trees were everywhere, and several leaves were falling from them, adding a pop of color to the dull, gray morning.
She found the biggest tree with the best view of the lake and climbed up to a spot where she could sit and watch everything. She dug into her backpack and pulled out a sketchbook and a pencil and began to draw.

Kaya woke up and looked at her bestie. Girl was nowhere to be seen so she decided to go to search for her. It wasn't first time coming here, but she still had quite a lot of places to discover here. Kaya stood up, prepared herself and went out. Yesterday had its ups and downs but she spent it with a great guy for whom now she was going to prepare surprise. Kaya started to look around to explore the place more. Walking forward she didn't notice how she came to the biggest tree with so amazing view. Kaya looked at the tree and realized she never climbed them in Hogwarts. So, intrigued by what she could discover from this tree Kaya started to climb. That's when she noticed a girl from her school sitting and drawing there. Hi there. Drawing sitting here must feel great, isn't it? She smiled enthusiastically, while sitting close to her, careful to not disturb girl from drawing. I'm Kaya Rose Bennett, Thunderbird as you could notice from drawing on my sweatshirt. What's your name? Kaya looked around and decided that she had to come here with Amber later. Two of them must share it together. But as for now, she had to focus a bit more on potentially new friend. |

there is no path to happiness, happiness is the pathSelf | Someone else | ThoughtsEverly looked down to see a girl she didn't recognize, but was from her school, seeing as she wore a Thunderbird jacket. She was climbing the tree, and she sat near her, but not near enough to her to possibly mess up her drawing, by getting in the way or nudging her. Everly appreciated this. She was in the zone.
"Definitely. It's so pretty here. Not that Ilvermorny isn't pretty, of course. It's just different here." Everly said. For example, Ilvermorny didn't have a lake like this. She wanted to capture it all on paper before she had to leave, so that she wouldn't forget what it looked like, what it felt like to be there.
The girl introduced herself as Kaya Rose Bennett, a Thunderbird.
"Nice to meet you, Kaya." Everly said, hoping she went by that and not Kaya Rose or Kaya Rose Bennett. "I'm Everly Hart, Pukwudgie." they sat in silence for a few moments before Everly spoke again. "So, are you enjoying Hogwarts so far?" Everly wondered if everyone was having a nice time. It was kind of nice to be a new place, for at least a little bit. She liked getting to explore the new school and meeting the Hogwarts students. She was glad there wasn't a language barrier between them.

I agree. It feels different here and in its own way quite pretty. I tried drawing here sitting under the tree, but today is the first time I tried to sit on the tree and it feels more incredible. Kaya smiled, looking far ahead from a place she was sitting in. Nice to meet you, Everly. Btw, you can call me Kaya or Rose or however you like. I don't have preferences in it. Actually, if she would think about it, only one person called her by her middle name. Others were calling her Kaya. She looked at Everly and thought it would be nice to spend more time with this girl, especially back in Ilvermorny. It would be nice to have more Ilvermorny friends as well as from other schools. Yeah, it's quite fun. Though yesterday's ball finished not as happy as it could... But I'm arranging a surprise for my yesterday's ball partner. Hopefully it will let him feel more happy. Kaya wasn't too sad for herself, but she felt sad Sherlock seemed to look sad. He deserved to get to experience happy time. So she was doing something she never did before. Not like this, anyway. She was arranging something special for the evening for both of them. Kaya sincerely hoped it will work out as she plans. I'd like to explore this place as much as possible while we are here. It's really amazing." she said. Everly had never been scared of heights or falling. She used to climb trees all the time at her house, and whenever she went hiking, she would be the one in her family that climbed the highest, the one who moved closest to the edge of the cliff so she could get better views.
"Okay, great. I was wondering." Everly nodded, wondering if Kaya had read her mind, or if her thoughts were very visible on her face. Probably the latter. She'd always been an expressive thinker. Her face gave off whatever she thought or felt.
"That's good." Everly smiled. "Oh no, I'm sorry about that. I hope it makes him feel better!" she said hopefully. The ball was supposed to be fun. It sucked that not everyone had a good time. She hoped Kaya's time was still enjoyable, as well as her ball partner's.
"I do too. I wish I could visit other schools like this too, I'd love to explore them too. I'd love to explore every school, so I can see what my favorite is and what they're like." she said wishfully. She knew it would be unlikely she'd ever get to do that. "I am. It's really nice here. I've mainly been sketching, I filled up nearly my whole book." Everly grinned. She wanted to draw everything here. Whenever she saw anything interesting, she pulled out her sketchbook.

Kaya took a moment to appreciate the view in front of her eyes. This was definitely worth it. She found it funny enough, the fact that some simple things like this never crossed her mind. But luckily, she had encountered some students to find out something new. I hope so too. I think I would be happy if someone did it for me. Just for a second Kaya wondered how would it feel like to have someone arrange a surprise for her. Maybe she would discover it one day. Otherwise, she could always do some surprise for herself. Ah yeah. It would be really awesome if there would be anything that would let us come to visit other schools as well. But Kaya thought this wasn't going to happen. However, maybe in future there would be some opportunity. That's really wonderful! You know, later you can look at your sketches and remember about this time. Or maybe even share it with your partner or children. Kaya giggled. That wasn't going to happen soon most likely as they were still way too young. But fall ball changed her opinion about love and romance. Maybe she would actually like to have a boyfriend. |
