It was just an ordinary day for Simon. Feelings of kids worried they wouldn't get a good grade on their assignments. She was tired of being an auraseer. Then, zap It felt like she had gotten a paper cut. But when she looked at her finger, there was nothing. Be careful next time she thought. Then, she looked over to leave the library, and saw a girl, index finger in mouth, kinda wincing. Simon instantly regretted her thoughts. "hey, are you ok?" she asked. Drat. Hufflepuff instincts were not needed at the moment. But this girl was a Hufflepuff, too. "yeah. maybe. I'm Ash. What's your name?" Ash responded, though it took some time. It was clear she wanted to be friends with everyone, but Simon was like that too, when she wasn't grouchy. "Oh, I'm Simon, you can call me Mo, if you want." Simon was always kinda shy towards others. Her parents had always disagreed. One of many reasons she was glad to be at Hogwarts. Most of her reasons were because of her family. Now, talking to Ash, Simon remembered that she too had work to do. Ash was reading a book on transfiguration. "Hey, could I work with you? On your assignment?" Simon asked, but she didn't know if Ash was just reading, or trying to do an assignment."Of course!" Ash responded. "it's due pretty soon, and I've barely written a sentence!" She continued. Simon could tell that this would probably take a little while. "Then let us start!" she finished. as they were working, Simon started to get really tired. then, she looked over to see that Ash was dead asleep on top of the textbook. Simon laughed to herself. This should be fun. A new friend. she thought to herself.

Ash's transfiguration classes had just ended and she was having a break at this moment. She has always loved transfiguration, it's one of her favourite subjects, but the homework... well-

She had her nose deep into the book of Transfiguration, hoping to get some help from it. This day wasn't perfect for her because she kept tripping, falling, and slipping for no reason. As she turned the page of the book, her index finger got a paper cut. "Common for today, wonder If I'm drunk..." Ash muttered under her breath before removing all the blood from her finger.

"Hey, are you ok?"
Ash almost flinched by the sound. This really was a chaotic day.
"Yeah, maybe," Ash smiled, looking back at the girl who seemed a Hufflepuff. She paused for a bit, she didn't know why, and spoke again, "I'm Ash, what's your name? And, by any chance, are you a first-year too?"
"Oh, yes, I'm a first-year!" said the girl. "I'm Simon, you can call me Mo, if you want."
"Mo," Ash grinned. It was her first smile of, well, this day. "I like that name."
"Hey," said Simon."Could I work with you? On your assignment?"

That was a relief to Ash, hearing that someone was there who'd work with her. Ash was literally freaking out all alone.
"Yes!" she said. "Of course It's due pretty soon, and I've barely written a sentence!"
"Then let us start!" said Simon.
Ash was sure Simon might be a genius, she seemed to be one, the way she came to her and offered her help. Ash was grateful!

When Ash and Simon finished their work, Simon mentioned how she had some charms work to do. " Hey I have-- Are you good at charms? I could really use some help." Simon was NOT going to tell this girl about her powers. Not yet. "oh, yeah! We could totally work on that." Ash responded. They read Simon's entire textbook, including a couple other short ones including just some less common charms. "oh brother, we'll never be done!" Simon complained. Though Ash was happy. Very happy. At least she wasn't tired of reading tons of textbooks. Simon had a headache.
" hey Ash can I tell ya something? It's really important and i've wanted to say it since we finished your work." She reluctantly asked. Simon was going to regret this, she just knew it. It always went bad. "Sure what's up? Is something wrong?" Ash replied suddenly. Simon had been so caught in her own brain she almost forgot ash was even there. "what- Oh. nothing's wrong it's just, um, I kinda sorta maybe an auraseer. It basically means i can, like, feel what you can feel, or feel the pain you feel. So when you got a paper cut earlier, or how you're so happy right now..." Simon said. She knew Ash was going to be mad. "what? That's so cool! I kinda feel bad for getting a paper cut now, though it wasn't my fault!" Ash responds so quickly sometimes! Huh? she likes my gift? Simon thought.
Ash was gonna be Simon's best friend one day, she just knew it.

Ash was quite good with spell work, and though she loved all the subjects (well, except history of magic...), Charms and DADA were her most favourite ones. She just agreed to help Simon with her Charms.

Ash wasn't sure, but Simon kind of seemed nervous or exhausted, and then she suddenly told Ash about her power. She was an auraseer! Simon could feel what others felt. Ash never knew these powers existed. How even would she when she was born to muggles? Ash always wanted to have some powers like reading people's mind or something like that.
Though she felf a little bad that Simon had to suffer the slight pain of the paper cut Ash'd got earlier.

"That's so cool, Simon!" said Ash, not realising how lit up her eyes were. "I never knew these powers existed. Though I'm sorry for the paper cut..." she gave a nervous laugh.

She helped Simon with the remaining Charms homework. It was kinda hard, but it was super fun, of course, because it was Charms.
When it was finally done, Ash finally decided to ask Simon what she'd been wanting to ask since the time they were doing the Transfiguration homework. She was nervous and she was sure Simon was feeling the same at the moment since she was an auraseer. Ash calmed herself down so that Simon doesn't feel all that nervousness.
"Um hey Simon-" said Ash, trying her best not to sound awkward. She d
was never good at making friends... "You wanna be friends with me?" She gave a bright cheeky grin. "I think you're very very cool and I'd really love to be friends with you!"

"Hey Simon-" Ash started. She seemed nervous, which, from what Simon knew, was kinda shocking!
"Yeah, what's up?" She responded. Simon was slightly concerned for her new friend. Then she remembered all the times at home someone had told her that they weren't her friend when she had thought they were. "D-do you, would you wanna be friends with me?" Ash asked. Simon was shocked. Did Ash not know she didn't have to ask? "I think you're really cool, and I'd really like to be your friend!" She continued. "You didn't have to ask!" Simon said excitedly. "Of course, I'd love to be your friend, even your best friend!" "really?" Ash continued to ask. "I thought you wouldn't!" She said, almost ecstatic. Simon couldn't believe it. She'd tried to distance herself from others, to try to keep her secret, and then she made her first friend! She almost wanted to run off and try to make friends with every person in the entire library. "I thought you were going to say something else! Something I didn't want to hear!" Simon said. Maybe hogwarts wasn't just about learning magic. It was also about making friends. This was great news. "So, what other work do we need done? How about... History of a magical friendship?" Ash said, jokingly. Both girls cracked up. Simon laughed so hard, her eyes started to water.

Ash couldn't believe herself, how was she managing to make friends so easily? Wasn't it just the other way round while she was in the muggle world? She felt like she wasn't herself, but she was so happy that she wanted to scream and laugh.

Ash wiped her eyes which were filled with tears because of all that laughing at the joke.
They were now roaming all around the library, talking about stuff and searching books for themselves to read. Ash wondered if she could get a book related to jokes, hoaxes or pranks.
"So..." said Ash when she was successful in getting a book which was related to hoaxes. "How's it going in here? Everything fine? Um- to be honest- I never saw you before in the dorm or the common room... or maybe I'd gone blind. This is the first time I saw you, you know."

It was fun to be with Simon there; Ash never got bored like she got with other students.
Yet again, not to her amazement, Ash's curiosity had started to take over her, and once it took over, it was difficult to keep her mouth shut from asking questions.
"And, well..." she said. "Can we-um- have powers like you have by ourselves? Or do some of us have powers sice birth?" she gave a nervous laugh.
Ash really wanted to have powers; she wanted to read people's brains. And if she could have this power in her, her life could be dope!
