Kaitlyn beamed at Minnie’s acceptance of her offer. “Great, thanks,” she replied. She stood up, as well, keeping pace with Minnie. After the conversation they just had, she had no idea how to keep it going. She was socially awkward and didn’t know what to say. She let her blue eyes drop to her flats, as she walked. It felt nice walking with Minnie. ‘I hope she doesn’t think negatively about me just because I’m quiet. I’m rather content just spending time with Minnie like this,’ she thought.

Just as she was exiting her mental reprieve, she noticed that they took an extra staircase. Kaitlyn considered saying something to Minnie. ‘Then again, the faster we get there, the faster I have to leave her. I kind of want to stay like this for a little longer,’ she thought. When Minnie noticed and turned around, Kaitlyn smiled. ‘And it feels nice to be off the right pathway with someone else.’

Kaitlyn tilted her head to the side at Minnie’s words. A trouble maker. She simply smiled and let Minnie say her piece. She liked replying on her active listening, and not just because of her introverted nature. She liked to show that she was actually listening. So, she kept quiet until she could tell that Minnie was finished.

Once she established that Minnie was finished, Kaitlyn gave her a bright smile. “Minnie, I consider you to be a great friend. I think you’re fun to be around. I honestly don’t mind that you’re a trouble maker. I promise you that I still see you exactly the same as before. You’re the same girl that danced with me in the ballroom. I enjoy your company,” she tried to relieve Minnie’s apprehension. “Oh, and don’t worry, I’m not about to tattle on you. You’re my friend. And I don’t tattle on my friends,” she continued, striking an honest tone. Her face flushed a little. “And … well, if you’d like some company as you’re causing trouble, I can help, if you’d like. I probably won’t know what I’m doing, but I could keep watch for you?” She offered with a giggle.

Kaitlyn turned to look at Minnie. “And just to be clear, this doesn’t change that I want to go with you to the dance,” she confirmed.

Minnie let out a relieved sigh."Thanks for being so calm about that. I don't know what I'm thinking when I say half the things I say." She blushed. When she started going down the right stairwell, she started to calm down again. It was all fine. She was going with Kaitlyn to the dance and she was walking with Kaitlyn to class. And her strange outburst hadn't ruined their friendship at all. Today was really going great. I wonder if I should give her that magic candy heart? It would be nice for her to get it. I forget what shop I got it from, but I know she'll like it. Candy hearts that made you feel happy and warm if you were nice, and cold and unhappy if you were mean? Who wouldn't love that? And since Kaitlyn's obviously nice... Minnie smiled. She was definitely giving it to her. "Hey Kaitlyn, I have a new candy I got...do you want to try it?" She grabbed a candy heart out of her bag. "It's a candy heart! I think it tastes great, don't worry." She added, not wanting Kaitlyn to feel like it tasted. And Minnie knew about how annoying bad tasting sweets were. She had gotten food poisoning from some bad candies. But she was sure it was safe, and she held it out to Kaitlyn as she walked to her class, happy.

Kaitlyn smiled brightly at Minnie. It appeared that her answer was good for her. “I like that about you. I think it’s endearing,” she replied, honestly. She liked it that Minnie spoke what was on her mind. Too many people sugarcoat things to make others feel better. Personally, she’d rather people talk to her honestly.

As Minnie started down the correct stairwell, Kaitlyn walked with her. She actually liked it that Minnie told her that she was a trouble maker. It would be good to know the context to situations. Plus, she hoped Minnie would accept her offer of help. She didn’t know how much effort was needed to do whatever Minnie was doing, but she’d appreciate spending more time with her friend. And, she honestly wouldn’t be bothered if Minnie tried to pull a prank on her.

When Minnie offered her a candy heart that she perfected, Kaitlyn smiled brightly. “I’d love to try it. And don’t worry, I trust you, Minnie,” she smiled, reassuringly at Minnie. ‘After telling me that she’s a trouble maker, I doubt Minnie would give me anything that she knew was bad. I wouldn’t mind if she wanted to joke around with me, though,’ she thought. Giving Minnie another bright smile, she accepted the candy heart and popped it into her mouth. “May I ask, what does it do?” She asked, as she began to feel warm with a sudden happiness.

Minnie smiled at Kaitlyn's question. "Are you feeling something?" She grinned. "I promise it's nothing bad. It's just that if you're nice, it should make you feel happy and warm. I take that that's what your feeling." She smiled brighter. I knew Kaitlyn was nice! And anyone who says different I can prove wrong. "It was on sale too." She added, Kaitlyn to feel like it was too expensive. "Anyone could buy it." As she went down the bottom of the staircase, she realized she'd never answered one of Kaitlyn's questions. She blushed, hoping Kaitlyn hadn't noticed. "I would love for you to help me." Then Minnie remembered that she probably had no clue what Minnie was talking about. "With my trouble making that is." She winced. "If you really do want me to. You would be a big help." She thought about her and Kaitlyn, making trouble and sweets together. It would be awesome. And now they would be dancing together! I'm just so happy that she asked me to the dance! It's like I ate one of the candy hearts. With that idea, she popped one in her mouth. Immediately, she felt the happy and warm sensation of it. That really was a good idea to buy. She decided. I hope Kaitlyn agrees. She is one of the nicest people I know, so she probably does. She beamed at Kaitlyn, just so happy. "Um...would you maybe sometime want to work on the pizza croissants sometime after valentines day?"

Kaitlyn was just about to answer Minnie when she started to feel it. Or at least, what she assumed it to be. A warmth spread around her chest. It was not enough to make her hot, but still a noticeable difference. And she felt like she was happier. She closed her eyes as she responded. “I feel warmer … and happier? It’s a little hard to tell because I’m already super happy that we’re going to the dance together,” she opened her eyes and smiled at Minnie. “You’re right! These candies are awesome! And thanks, I think you’re nice, too. I already told you that I trust you; I never thought otherwise,” she responded sincerely.

“Aw. But you picked them out, and they clearly work!” Kaitlyn exclaimed, honestly. As the girls descended a staircase, her face flushed at Minnie’s words. ‘I’m happy Minnie is opening up to me, this is great!’ She didn’t know off hand what she could do to help Minnie, but she was glad that Minnie accepted her help. If anything, they’ll spend more time together. “Of course I do! I want to help. Anyway, we’re friends. I’m also very curious. Muggle pranks are rather obvious. I’d like to see magical ones, too,” she replied, beaming.

‘I’m happy like this. Minnie is such a great girl. I already knew I was making the right choice to bring her to the dance. And I’m looking forward to it. I think Minnie may be, too,’ she thought, the bright smile never leaving her face. She turned to Minnie at her question and nodded enthusiastically. “I’d love to! A pizza croissant sounds so tasty,” she giggled.

Minnie smiled, relieved. "Thanks! I'm looking forward to doing it. And thanks for asking me to the dance. I really appreciate it. You are really a super awesome person. I'll be super excited for the dance." She was reaching her classroom. But really, Kaitlyn's made a bad day turn into a really good one! I don't know how she does it. And she doesn't seem to mind my weirdness and the fact that I don't know how to react when someone gives you something. I really can't believe this. She's amazing. Minnie smiled again at Kaitlyn, feeling like her smiling muscles might burst. She looked at the classroom, feeling sad she had to stop talking to her. "Well...bye for now I guess. It was really fun talking to you, and thanks for inviting me to the dance." With that, she walked into her classroom, waving to Kaitlyn. In class, she tried to pay attention, but kept thinking about Kaitlyn and the dance. At the end of class, she nearly burst with wanting to go practice her foxtrot. I guess that's what being asked to dance does. Minnie thought, but happily. She got a stern look from her teacher, but it was worth it because she had been asked to dance, and everything was great. Soon she was going to be dancing with a great friend who she trusted and who trusted her. Why would she need to pay attention?

‘Minnie is so sweet!’ Kaitlyn giggled and nodded. “I look forward to it, too. Thanks for inviting me. I think you’re an awesome person, too,” she smiled, brightly. ‘I enjoy spending time with Minnie. I’m happy she said yes, and that we’re making plans together. It’s actually kind of funny. I get so nervous talking to other people. But, it feels safe to talk to Minnie. I like her calming presence.’

As they neared the classroom Minnie was supposed to go to, Kaitlyn felt a little sad to leave her friend already. She’d love to hide away with Minnie and just talk for hours. But, they both had classes to attend, sadly. “I’ll see you later, Minnie. It was fun talking to you, too. Thanks for agreeing to go with me. I honestly cannot wait,” she exclaimed, giving her friend a bright smile. She waved back, as she passed by the classroom.

After safely away from Minnie’s class, Kaitlyn started to gracefully move through the corridors, spinning and leaping through. ‘Minnie is a great girl. I’m lucky to have asked such an awesome girl to the dance, and I cannot believe that she agreed,’ she thought. Despite the candy Minnie gave her, her ecstatic demeanor was all from her happiness about her conversation with Minnie. With her graceful movements, she was able to get to her class on time. For once, she had trouble concentrating. Thinking about Minnie and dancing the Fox Trot together. She made a mental note to try to practice on her own, she really wanted their time at the dance to be special.
