Kaitlyn giggled and nodded. “Okay, that’s good to know. Oh, wow, that sounds rough. I’m sorry if your mum does that to you,” she smiled apologetically. She could tell that a lot of the magical world was very traditional. Unfortunately, that was not always a good thing.

Katie flushed at Lexi’s reaction. “Ah, sorry. I should’ve started with that. Um, yes, I do draw. They’re not in color, but I’m trying to learn that. I often carry a sketchbook when I leave my common room, but I’m not today, since my plan was just to read. But, yes, I’ll remember to bring it with me more often, so I can show them to you when I see you,” she responded with an apologetic smile. Sometimes, she forgot to completely think when she was excited about something.

When Lexi moved closer to her, Katie gave a bright smile. She was happy to see that she was not jeopardizing a potential friendship by being off-putting. A light flush graced her cheeks when Lexi took out a small box of chocolate frogs behind a stack of books, subtly offering them to her. She normally would say no, or ask if she really wanted her to have any. As much as she enjoyed the gesture, it made her uneasy. With a discrete nod and a mouthed ‘thank you,’ she took one of the chocolate frogs. She began to nibble on it from behind books, being discrete whenever a librarian was looking in their direction.

Katie stifled a laugh at Lexi’s response. “I completely agree. Honestly, though, I feel weird being completely disagreeable with any of the girls in my dorm room. While I’d like to think they’d respect me enough not to mess with my belongings, I do have to wonder, unfortunately,” she rambled. She discretely took another bite of the frog. “It’s no problem at all. I like your unique experience, and I’d love to learn more about it, if you’re willing to share … at your own pace,” she added, giving Lexi a bright smile. She wasn’t about to demand anything from Lexi, respecting her enough to say it when she felt like it.

Lexi shrugged at the observation about her mom. She was definitely a stubborn person, but at the end of the day, she knew she was only that way for her safety. Upon hearing more about her art, her eyes once again lit up.

"Well I'm surely going to hold you to that!" Lexi declared with an excited smile, "I bet your sketches are lovely."

Lexi scratched her chin and hummed thoughtfully at what Kaitlyn said. Were Slytherin girls that untrustworthy? She hadn't met any personally besides the one in front of her, so she wouldn't know. As she thought, she slowly reached her hand over to the chocolate frogs and grabbed one to nibble on.

"The fact that you even have to consider that they would touch it at all is worrying. Perhaps you could hide your belongings? I'm sure they won't go out of their way to look for it, of they do at all.

A warm smile crawled onto her face when hearing her invitation. People honestly never wanted to hear about her family, or if they did she was much too afraid to discuss her heritage. "Unique is definitely one way to put it. Not too much for me to share, really. Besides having a mum with anger issues and the occasional judgemental stare, not much is different for me. However, I do admit it gives me anxiety. Veela are notoriously untrusted...."

Kaitlyn giggled at Lexi’s enthusiasm. “I’m a girl of my word. I’ll gladly show them to you. I’m very biased, but I think they are good,” she agreed with a quiet laugh. She was not shy about her artwork, and will gladly show it to Lexi the next time she saw her. She wanted Lexi to see them. Drawing was such a big part of her life. As it was, she liked talking to Lexi like this.

At Lexi’s words about her belongings, Kaitlyn shrugged. “I sadly don’t know most of them that well to know. There are a few girls that I know are sweet. I do have a way to lock them securely if I wanted. I don’t feel unsafe around them,” she responded. “But, thank you for the reminder.”

Kaitlyn nodded in understanding of what Lexi told her. It didn’t sound that different than her own life. “That’s good. I’m glad your childhood was pleasant for you. I am curious of what life was like for others. It makes for a very rich conversation. If you ever need anyone to talk to, I’m willing to listen,” she smiled brightly. “And if it helps, I trust you,” she continued.
