Sawyer Mellowrose, the well known and often discussed professor of Defense Against the Dark Arts. He had always been a nobody, although extremely talented in dueling and magic, his name barely existed outside of Hogwarts. A lonely soul, really, he wandered the school corridors finding places to sleep. Often exhausted, often dreary and uncaring. Except today! Oh no! Today was not a day for rest!
Mellowrose was marching across the grounds of the school, grass ripping from his furious footsteps. His eyes had veins crackling all around his iris, brows furrowed and fists clenched. Tallying behind him were two prefects who had been sent to collect him, Adalacia Podmore and Lucette Brielle. Mellowrose was moving a lot faster than the average 11 year old's walking pace. When they approached him, he asked sternly what they wanted, as soon as he heard the name "Edwina Trallope", it took him a moment to remember who she was, but then suddenly broke off towards her classroom as he remembered. Seemingly, he was already heading that way anyway. Mellowrose was extremely grumpy, and may even be frightening to the first years. He approached the Herbology door, although it was easy to see inside, he refrained from doing so and slammed his knuckles three times against the door. "Open up!" he barked, assuming the door was locked. He knocked hard again, and on the third, the upper frame of glass on the door smashed, falling into the Herbology classroom.

Sawyer was met with a stern and almost disappointed stare from Professor Trollope. Edwina's hand was deep in her robes, gripping her wand. She had been deep in a (probably) engaging talk with Professor Barrows, who was likely just as shocked.

"I trust you have a reason for such a dramatic entry?" She asked, pulling out her wand. "Reparo," she whispered pointing it at the door. Her tone was cheerful, despite Mellowrose's display. The glass flew back into place, piecing itself back together as if it had never been broken. With a wave from Edwina, the door swung open, allowing entry for the rude man and his accomplices. Edwina had never liked Sawyer, and he wasn't exactly doing well to change her opinion.

The greenhouse was, in its present state, a bit if a mess, with dirt covering the tables and benches, and vines growing wildly along the walls and ceilings.  There were a few potted plants as well, mostly if the bitey, venemous sort. Edwina was on one of the tables, even though it looked far too cheap to actually hold a person's weight. In her lap, contained "safely" inside of a pot, was what looked like some sort of multi-leveled Venus Flytrap Siamese triplet, which Edwina stroked lovingly.

Oftentimes, Matilda would never be found away from her Divination classroom. But as of recent, she has been out and about more than she would like to be. First with Professor Blackburn in the Owlery, and now with Professor Trollope in her greenhouse. She didn't mind the fact that she was spending time with people for a change, but the warm and comfortable environment of her classroom was much more preferable than a room filled with living plants. Although they were fascinating, they just weren't quite the woman's cup of tea.

The brunette was appropriately shocked when she heard a loud banging on the greenhouse door. She looked over to Edwina, who was next to her, and proceeded to watch as she greeted Sawyer Mellowrose - another professor that Matilda hadn't had the pleasure of meeting yet. Now that she has, she wasn't sure if it was as much of a pleasure as she was thinking it would be. Regardless, she smiled, tucking her hands behind her back and holding them together there. She was grateful she had left her cat behind in the castle, she was sure the feline wouldn't have been all too happy in this situation.

Matilda looked from Edwina to the door now, to the professor as well as the two prefects that had come along with him. She was alright with keeping silent, and she did just that.

Adalacia was, for lack of better terminology, terrified. Professor Mellowrose was livid; all rigid and brooding - it was hard not to be scared of him. Thankfully his sour mood wasn't specifically directed at her or her fellow prefect, but it still wasn't the most pleasurable of treks to meet Professor Trollope at the Greenhouse. As they approached their destination Adalacia cast a small glance to Lucette, the Slytherin prefect who had so kindly accompanied her to summon their Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. "Did you think he'd get this mad?" She whispered under her breath to her fellow first year, falling back ever so slightly so they were just out of ear shot. She  didn't need to earn herself a lecture.

Yet it seemed Professor Mellowrose was going to be the individual receiving a lecture in this situation, seeming moments after the two prefects shared words he forcefully entered into the Herbology classroom by smashing in the frame of the door, earning him a stern glare from Professor Trollope. Adalacia noted there was another professor present in the room, one she hadn't had the pleasure of meeting and yet the young Gryffindor's attention was more so focused on Professor Trollope's perfectly executed repair spell, a small smile of wonder playing at her lips. "I still haven't gotten that one to work for me yet." She whispered over to Lucette, eyeing Mellowrose warily as she awaited his explanation to Professor Trollope.

Luttece's eardrums were flooded by the pounding of her heart as she trailed behind Mellowrose, whose darkened expression spoke volumes more than words could ever. It was common knowledge that Mellowrose wasn't the brightest personality in Hogwarts, but she never imagined her head of house being so... frightening. She felt apprehensiveness build up in her already heavy chest as she walked alongside Adalacia, a fellow Prefect who was kind enough to accompany her. Just her mere presence made Lucette slightly calmer than she would have been. She leaned a bit closer to her, listening to her whisper, grimacing, and returning words of her own. "N-No I didn't... but he is Mellowrose." She knew that those words alone were enough.

As the trio reached the Greenhouse, her teeth clenched as Sawyer's face contorted, doing a number on the door before the flimsy thing came crashing down, shattering. Her eyes were sympathetic as she looked at the two female professors inside the Greenhouse as if that would make up for what he had done. It wouldn't. Chills ran down her spine as Edwina's face and words responded nonchalantly, repairing the shattered door with a simple phrase and a wave of her wand. The Herbology Professor's eyes darkened, staring daggers at Sawyer's, the atmosphere instantly turning damp in intensity. She unconsciously shuffled to feet to stand closer to Adalacia as she whispered, feeling like her fellow first year would be the only source of comfort in the next few minutes. It was a battle between giants, and the two of them just happened to be in the middle of it.

"Professor Trallop, Professor Burrow," Mellowrose greeted as he begun, stepping in through the doorway and standing by it as he spoke sharply," my cat has gone missing and I was informed by a student that they saw him wander in here," he turned on his heel to face all the living plants, they begun snapping as he neared them. "If my cat was eaten by your unsupervised plants..." he threatened as he leaned down to look at the green jaws at eye level, examining them. Seconds after, he shot back up and turned to the two prefects," you two! Help me look for my cat," Mellowrose ordered and then returned to face Edwina and Matilda with enraged eyes. The red perimeter pupils scanned the room, looking everywhere for where his cat might have left some hint of a trail, or skirmish.
The only living thing Mellowrose ever seemed to cherish was his cat, its name known amongst the years, Fluffy. A great, big, white cat that has soft, thin fur. He often sleeps around the school and Mellowrose has gone far enough to argue that it is acceptable for him to sleep on teachers desks if he so chooses. Its not often that they're seen interacting, in fact when they do, Fluffy doesn't particularly like Mellowrose. Yet the professor endlessly looks after the domestic pet. Times such as now are usually triggered when Mellowrose hasn't seen Fluffy in over a week and doesn't know for sure where he is.

"Tell me, Sawyer, when has it ever been appropriate for you to burst in like this? Would a simple knock not have sufficed for you?" Edwina asked, setting the pot down and standing up. She walked behind the table, which then stood between her and her colleague, providing a barrier for the awkwardness to wear off. Edwina bent over the table a bit, resting her upper body on her elbows while she glared up into Mellowrose's eyes.

"So let's say your cat somehow makes it past the door. A door which nobody lacking thumbs would be able to open on their own. How is it that you expect small plants to eat and digest a fully sized CAT?" Edwina pushed herself back up as she finished, walking over to face the prefects that Sawyer brought with him.

"Adalacia, how great to see you," she said, her arms outstretched as though expecting a hug, though she quickly brought them back down before such a thing could happen. "And of course Miss Brielle," she said, bowing her head for a moment in greeting. Truthfully, Edwina almost wanted Sawyer to draw his wand, as she had been waiting for an opportunity like that since she was a student. She looked around, waiting for anyone to break the silence.

Professor Trollope seemed to be the type to always cut directly to the chase, no sugar coating. Especially, it seemed, in the case of Professor Mellowrose. Her hard stare reminded Adalacia of an angry cat, which is not a creature you toil with once angry. The specified points about how it would be highly far fetched for the Professor's cat to go missing on her premises drew a small amused smile out of the Gryffindor Prefect, her twinkling gaze shifting over to Lucette's to grab her attention if even for just a moment.  "She has a point" Adalacia whispered, shrugging a languid shoulder and awaiting Lucette's evident reply. Her attention was only fully returned to the task at hand when her Herbology professor rounded the table she had been previously leaning on, moving towards Lucette and herself to greet them officially.

For a fast moment she thought Professor Trollope was going to hug her, but not interested in embarrassing herself Adalacia remained rigid and allowed her to pass her by, the only reply she offered her teacher's welcome being the warmest smile she could conjure and a nod of her head. Sometimes Adalacia wondered why she had to be so distant, and cold. Then she remembered there was no use in fighting what came naturally and shrugged it off, decidedly choosing to focus on the matter at hand rather than herself. The scene was tense, and Professor Mellowrose looked like he was going to blow up at any point. Which could be an entertaining episode to say the least.

She listened to Edwina's cold and searing response. Although it wasn't directed towards her, she felt every blow of the words, a shotgun effect. But she had a point though: everything from the knocking just moments ago and the impossibility of a tiny plant gnawing on a full-sized cat. She panicked, doubting that for a moment. She did not understand what these plants did, and her body braced to back away. Ada's whispers did more than enough to reassure Lucette, though. She gave her fellow prefect a cordial grin, before murmuring back, praying they were distant enough for the three grown-ups to not pick up their small exchange. "Indeed, she does. But Mellowrose on the other hand..." She trailed off, gritting her teeth, cringing. That action would end her sentence. She watched with a careful eye as Professor Trollope approached the two of them, her agitated demeanor wearing off. Doing her best to not react to the uneasiness of the moment between Edwina and Ada, she gave her Herbology Professor a respectful nod.

Lucette jumped at Sawyer's 'barks', his orders reverberating in her mind, thundering. Like a dog given a command, she pushed sheepishly away from her Head of House and the small crowd, slowly roaming near the front of the greenhouse. Periodically, she would bend her knees and peer underneath the tables of the carnivorous plants, maintaining her distance to evade any unwanted altercation with the green elements. She prayed that she wasn't insulting Edwinda by looking around without her own consent, seeing how she previously had felt the heat between Mellowrose and Edwina as they threw harsh words at one another. However, she continued her inspection for any indication of the fluffy creature, her fear of the repercussions of an upset Sawyer turning on her outweighing the other.

Mellowrose swung his arm to the door," I just did knock! You opened the door," he shook his head in frustration, not understanding that his aggressiveness was the unacceptable part. Beginning to pace up and down the aisle, he looked at the plants, eyes looking at each one as he thought of a rational way his cat couldn't just kill all these plants dead. He rubbed his eyes then looked at Edwina as she greeted the prefects. Lucette was one of his two own House prefects and of course he favoured her, knowing how responsible she can be. Adalacia, why she was his star student, showing great ability in his class.
Bringing his head back and closing his eyes to think, Mellowrose was about to realise he had went overboard. His mind was ticking towards that horrible awareness. As it neared, he slowly begun to open his eyes, then immediately shot them open as he saw what was on the roof. Mellowrose grinned a grin of relief and unsheathed his wand, pointing it to the pane above him. He shot a light blue spell which turned the glass into a liquid like state that stayed in place, allowing objects to pass through. Opening out his arm, Mellowrose caught his cat as it slipped past the glass before the panel fixed itself. As Fluffy went into his arm, Mellowrose's body lost some of its rigidness and he turned back to the others with an exhausted expression. Mellowrose's anger was completely washed away on retrieval, no longer needing energy. With Fluffy under his arm like a sack, the cat lazily swimming its legs in an attempt to get away, Mellowrose contently walked towards the door. "Thank you for everything, Professor Edna and Professor Barrel," Mellowrose sleepily muttered, shuffling towards the exit. Unless of course the professors wanted a favour.
