While Ash sketched May, she could feel her left hand slightly shaking. She at least should have practised a little sketching before...

May, staying still, was answering Ash's question in the meantime, hardly moving her lips.
"So, the question you asked before, what house do I think you'll get," said May. "I mean, you're quite social and sweet, Hufflepuff vibes there, but you are also quite energetic and lively, giving Griffindor, I doubt Slytherin since you haven't been mean yet but maybe Ravenclaw since you're super smart."
Her saying that Ash was social made Ash blush, because she was the first and only person who said that. Though she surely was dumb and didn't understand everything that May said about the houses.
"I didn't understand a single thing,"said Ash stupidly, taking her eyes off the sketchbook.

Both of them suddenly exploded with laughter and May explained Ash everything in detail afterwards. Ash kept nodding her head while drawing to indicate she was all ears. She was finally getting everything that May said. Bravery and courage to the Gryffindors, loyalty, hard work and kindness to the Hufflepuffs, wisdom, intelligence and curiosity to the Ravenclaws and ambition, determination and cleverness to the Slytherins.
"So it all completely depends on the traits and personality," Ash looked up at May and spoke. "I don't know much about myself. But you've got almost all of those traits... but... I think you can end up in Ravenclaw because of your intelligence, or maybe Hufflepuff?" She shrugged.

"Ta-da, I'm done!"Ash sighed at her left hand which was still shaking from a lot of artwork. "I don't think I got everything right there because I'm sketching after two months now so..." She passed her sketchbook to May.

"Ta-da, I'm done!"Ash sighed at her left hand which was still shaking from a lot of artwork. "I don't think I got everything right there because I'm sketching after two months now so..." She passed her sketchbook to May.

May gasped so loudly she was sure the people in the other carriages could hear it as well. Ash had seriously impressed her this time. She had drawn it in such detail, from the gleam in May's eye to the gloss in her lip. It made her feel even prettier than she was. Her eyes analysed every bit of the picture and sensed a flush coming up her neck. It was a masterpiece, better than any drawing she had ever seen.

"This is..." May looked for the right word.

"Sorry, I really haven't had much practice!" Ash said, rubbing the back of her neck

"This is breathtaking, Ash you really outdid yourself! I look gorgeous, even better than in real life. You make me feel jealous of myself! I love it so much!" She exclaimed. "Can I keep it? Please? AND you have to draw me other things too, I'll do anything, please please please!" May was literally begging at this point, and why shouldn't she, the picture was stunning! "Please, please, please, pleaseeeeeeeee! i love it, this is amazing, even better than professionals, can you do other styles of art, oh my god, what if you drew things at Hogwarts, like the fireplace or the dorms, nono, draw the teachers, you'll be a favourite then! If you draw the Librarian, you better take out extra books for me! This is amazing, and in such little time, well done Ash!"

Sarah was so nervous. Her parents had just dropped her off at the Hogwarts Express to go to Hogwarts. All of Sarah's siblings went to Durmstrang; a different wizarding school. But since Sarah was accepted in to Hogwarts instead of Durmstrang, she was all alone with no siblings to show her the way.


Sarah's parents had brought her all the way to the Hogwarts express. Right before Sarah got on the train, she started to tear up. Goodbye Mom. I'll write. I promise. She gave her mom the biggest hug she ever had. Then, the train's whistle rang twice, indicating it was time to leave. All the other children rushed past Sarah to the train. Sarah kept hugging her mom, feeling like a little baby again. Please don't make me go! But Sarah new that she had to. She left go of her mom, wiped her tears with her sleeve, and started towards the train.

Right as she stepped on the first step of the train, she looked back at her mother and father, watching her. Sarah took one deep breath and climbed aboard.

The first thing Sarah noticed was how crowded it was! There so were many kids buzzing around. As the train started to pull out of the station, all the children scrambled to find a seat. This is what Sarah had been dreading. Who was she going to sit with?

Eventually Sarah found a compartment by herself. She took out her book "Fantastic Beasts and Where to find them" and began reading until she heard voices from the compartment behind her.

If you draw the Librarian, you better take out extra books for me! This is amazing, and in such little time, well done Ash!

Sarah is a big social butterfly once she comes out of her shell. Right then Sarah realized that if she wanted to come out of her shell, she would have to try harder.

Nervousness began spreading all over Ash as she handed over her sketchbook to May. All sorts of questions were swirling in her head like "What if she doesn't like it?" and "Would she like it?"
And just then she heard a gasp from May.
'It might not be very good...' Ash nervously gulped down the water while thinking to herself.
"This is..." May took a pause.
"Sorry, I really haven't had much practice..." said Ash, rubbing the back of her neck.

So it seemed May liked it, thankfully. Ash chuckled, her face flushed. She didn't know what would have happened if May didn't like it.

"You liked it? of course, I'd love it if you keep it," she grinned. "And I was overthinking here. Ok, so I'll be tricking the librarian into my drawing and getting some extra books for you!! Ash's eyes gleamed up with mischief. "And we can hang out sometimes with our things all around Hogwarts, you with your books and I with my sketchbook!"

They heard the compartment door suddenly slide open, which revealed a girl. She seemed quite short like Ash was, and she had long brown hair tied in a ponytail, which added beauty to her fair skin and nice brown eyes.
"Hello," she said. "May I sit with you guys?"

"Yes,of course!" Ash smiled.

Hello, May I sit with you guys?

Sarah didn't know why she was so nervous. She was usually the life of the party! She didn't know what to expect when she asked this but thankfully one of the girls responded:

Of course!

This girl had short black hair, fair skin, and beautiful freckles on her face. Sarah always wished to have freckles.

Sarah walked into the compartment and took a seat next to the short black haired girl. She looked across the compartment and noticed the second girl. This girl was very graceful looking. She had long flowing brown hair and blonde bangs.

Um, hi. My name is Sarah. Sorry I'm usually not this nervous. It's my first year here at Hogwarts and I don't know anyone. All my siblings go to Durmstrang.

Sarah noticed that the second girl was holding a piece of paper tightly to her chest. She almost didn't want to ask what it was, because maybe it was private. But Sarah's curiosity got the best of her.

If you don't mind me asking, what is that your holding?

Sarah bit her lip. Was she talking to much? What if these girls thought she was annoying? Why is Sarah so nervous! She is never nervous around people! Sarah sat very tense just waiting for the girls to answer, and hopefully not hate her!

"Hello, may I sit with you?" A girl came and asked us, she was stunning, with mid-length hair tied up into a ponytail and hazel eyes with slightly tanned skin and toned pink cheeks.

"Of course!" Ash replied, her voice dripping with sweetness.

May was still admiring the portrait Ash had given her and therefore unintentionally payed little to no attention to the girl. A short conversation broke out between Ash and the new girl- Sarah she said her name was. May was still daydreaming partially due to the wonderful artwork and partially due to her lack of sociality until Sarah asked her a question:

"If you don't mind me asking, what is that you're holding?"

May jumped out of Wonderland and swiftly replied to the girl in her usual hushed tone "Oh! Ash made this for me, it's a picture!" She turned the paper around to show Sarah.

"Oh it's nothing-" Ash started

"Ash we love your humility but this is the best artwork I've ever seen, don't you agree Sarah!"

May really hoped Sarah would agree, or else it would take approximately 0.078 seconds for the room to be filled with awkwardness. How she calculated that, well, who knows?

The ponytail-haired girl stepped inside the compartment and took a seat near Ash, who was back to drinking the water.

"Um, hi. My name is Sarah. Sorry, I'm usually not this nervous," she said, and Ash was reminded of her own damn nervousness when she first arrived at Platform 9¾ and met May. Just a few hours ago, she was so nervous that her heart seemed to explode, and now, she was feeling so comfortable around May that she felt she might have been looking like an extrovert.
"It's my first year here at Hogwarts and I don't know anyone. All my siblings go to Durmstrang." Sarah continued.

"Hi!" said Ash. "It's our first year here too and we- well- I, barely know anyone or anything here. But May," Ash turned her head towards May who was still looking at her sketch and waved at her. "She knows quite a lot about the Wizarding world." Ash forgot to introduce herself. She was aware of the fact that she's a fool. "I'm Ash, by the way, Ash Brown. And this is May Snow. And-uhm- what's a Durmstrang?" She turned back towards Sarah.

"If you don't mind me asking, what is that you're holding?" said Sarah, looking from May to the paper she was holding. And May swiftly turned her head towards Sarah.
"Oh! Ash made this for me, it's a picture!" said May in a fast, hushed tone.
"Oh, it's nothing- Ash began.
"Ash we love your humility but this is the best artwork I've ever seen, don't you agree Sarah!" said May.

Ash, though she was comfortable enough at the moment, usually did not have many things inside her head to say. So she once again began cracking her fingers out of she had no idea what, thanks a lot to that annoying habit of hers.

It's our first year here too and we- well- I, barely know anything here. But May," The girl holding the sketch book, May, waves at Sarah She knows quite a lot about the Wizarding world. I'm Ash, by the way, Ash Brown. And this is May Snow. And-uhm- what's a Durmstrang? Sarah chuckled quietly. She then said to Ash, Durmstrang is another wizarding school. Though Hogwarts has a better reputation in my opinion. Are you knew to the wizarding world? I was actually born in to a wizard family so I'd be happy to help you out. Sarah almost felt nervous for Ash. She knew that some students may be rude to her because she was muggle born. But Sarah knew that if anyone was mean to Ash, she would stand up for her. She might have looked small but Sarah was tough. Sarah looked at May, trying to see if she had the same thoughts as Sarah. But instead, she noticed that May was holding a piece of paper in her hands. Sarah was curious about it. What could it be? Sarah is always very curious and doesn't have trouble speaking her mind. So she decided to ask May. If you don't mind me asking, what's that you're holding?
Oh! Ash made this for me, it's a picture! Sarah looked at Ash and smiled at her.
Oh it's nothing-
Ash we love your humility but this is the best artwork I've ever seen, don't you agree Sarah! Sarah looked at Ash cracking her fingers. She knew Ash was nervous. Sarah knew she was going to have to be nice about the art even if it is bad. But when she saw the artwork, she was nothing but honest. Oh my god! You drew this? This is amazing! Sarah held the drawing up so she could compare it to May's face. It was almost identical! Sarah has never seen such artistic talent in all her life. This is so real! How long did it take? The shading is fantastic! Sarah stopped talking. She wondered if she was talking to much or was to overly excited about a drawing.

"Durmstrang is another wizarding school. Though Hogwarts has a better reputation in my opinion. Are you new to the wizarding world? I was actually born into a wizard family so I'd be happy to help you out," Sarah answered Ash's question.
"Yes," Ash nodded. "I'm a muggle-born. I never knew there were other schools too. Thanks!" Ash thought she'd love to travel all around the world and explore all those wizard schools. She almost daydreamed herself as a traveller. So there are two wizard-borns and a muggle-born here. We can hang out in Hogwarts! Ash smiled, way too much happy at the fact that how she was suddenly getting friends in the wizarding world... nobody ever approached her in the muggle world, except her brother Alex, of course.

"Oh my god! You drew this? This is amazing!" Sarah held up Ash's sketch and looked from it to May's face. "This is so real! How long did it take? The shading is fantastic!"
"Um- thanks, I guess it took around ten minutes, I don't really remember..." Ash blushed. She wasn't used to all the compliments at all. Though knowing that somebody loved her sketching, she felt happy. And she began cracking her fingers. Somebody ought to take them away from her or she wouldn't stop.
When the atmosphere had become quiet, Ash decided to say something, because talking with them was fun, even more than sketching.

""So," she said. "I was curious, what do you guys like to do when free? And what are your plans for Hogwarts?" Her saying anything annoyed people, even sometimes her parents in the muggle world, but she didn't know how and why. Ash just hoped she was not annoying May and Sarah by speaking a lot.

Outside the window, it had got so dark that they could literally see nothing except some dotted lights at some distance. Ash got the feeling that they were almost at their destination.

"Oh my god! You drew this? This is amazing!" Sarah held up Ash's sketch and looked from it to May's face, to which made May slightly insecure, but she held still. She didn't want Sarah to think she was squirmish.

"This is so real! How long did it take? The shading is fantastic!"


"Um- thanks, I guess it took around ten minutes, I don't really remember..." Ash blushed and started cracking her fingers. May hated when anyone did that, she didn't like the sound of air bubbles in your bones or skin or whatever popping. It actually made her squirmish.

When the atmosphere had become quiet, Ash decided to say something, which May was grateful for, social anxiety was a big problem for her.

""So," she said. "I was curious, what do you guys like to do when free? And what are your plans for after Hogwarts?" she asked genuinely.

"Well," started May. "First I'm going to make you stop cracking your fingers."

The three burst into fits of laughter until it was ringing throughout the whole compartment.

"Then, I'm going to focus on my studies. I want to become an Astronomer, I love studying the stars and space, there's just so much of it and such little we have discovered. Like, just imagine, we're in a country, that's in a continent, that's on earth, that's in the solar system, that's in the universe, that's in the Milkyway, that's in the middle of billions and trillions and quadrillions of other milky ways that's in existence. Now THATS cool. And scary, but mostly cool." May had never rambled that much to anyone else before. "Or, I'll be an author. They're just as cool, we live in a reality that have so many countries that are in a continent that's on death, that's-" she was about to go on till she saw the look on Ash's face. May had only known Ash for a few hours but it seemed like they had been friends for years and by the really,-are-we-doing-this-again? expression on her face, May knew they were going to be good friends. Sarah also had a seriously-not-again expression that made it seem like they we're all super annoying siblings rather than people who just met each other. It gave her a comfortable feeling. "Well, you know what I mean. So, we live in a certain reality. But imagine having the power to CREATE another reality. It would be amazing, to base characters off people you know, being about to control characters, make them bend at your will, fall in love with each other, fight each other, do anything you want in summery. It would be brilliant!" May knew her eyes shone brighter than the stars and moon combined, both of which we're dancing over the train. She made a mental note to start packing up, they would be arriving soon. "Or, I'll do both."
