Building Fantastic Relationships
Great. A partner. Exactly what she needed to ruin her transfiguration class. No one could deny it, Kit was great at transfiguration. Being a metamorphmagus, that was just a fact. She didn't need a partner, when she could literally transfigure herself. Kit groaned quietly and rolled her eyes, making sure her partner saw it. 'What a stupid idea,' Kit murmured under her breath. She might not have been giving the friendly vibe exactly, but good God, she wasn't a fluffy Hufflepuff now was she?
Kit studied the girl; she was an unremarkable girl. She was petit, at least compared to Kit, maybe bordering on 150 centimetres. Then of course, Kit had always been tall for her age, which was, from what she gathered, what made her seem intimidating. Hopefully, she was intimidating, because she certainly didn't want this girl to drag down her transfiguration scores. Did she even know the snail to teapot spell? Or perhaps it was teapot to snail. It should work both ways, shouldn't Kit? Anyways, the theoretical part of transfiguration was as boring as hell. Who would want to read dusty old books about how spells were supposed to work, when it was the actual casting that counted?
Anyways, Kit was getting distracted. She tutted quietly, establishing a sort of naive dominance, before saying in a drawl, 'Don't ruin my grades for me.' Then with a dainty laugh, she added a sarcastic, 'Please.' She paused, then realised it was probably a faux pas not to introduce herself. 'I don't suppose you know me, but I'm Kit.' She stuck out a hand, but with her unpleasantness, she wouldn't blame the girl for not shaking it. To be honest, Kit didn't want to be her friend, not at all. She just wanted to be left alone to explore a subject she was actually good at.

Thoughts: italicsKaitlyn’s face flushed at the intimidating look of her Transfiguration partner. The imposing look ran over her features, likely nitpicking every inch of her. And yet, this girl could not disagree with how she kept herself. Her Slytherin uniform was worn proudly over her athletic frame. The uniform looked immaculate, almost as if she just stepped out of her wardrobe with a brand-new uniform. While she sat there, not saying anything, one could mistake her for having confidence. Confidence in her speech. Confidence in her grade in Transfiguration. Confidence that a muggle-born student like her could cast just about any spell with precision like any other student. Anyone who thought that way never heard this girl speak.
Her utmost desire was to not draw attention to herself. Being under the watchful glare of her partner was inflaming her anxiety. Kaitlyn would rather very much be left alone to do her own thing and suffer in silence. And yet, that appeared to be impossible for her now.
When Kit spoke to her, Kaitlyn frowned slightly. A very passive-aggressive comment. Not a threat, yet. But, also not a compliment. “I’ll tr-try n-not t-to,” she stammered, clearly not as articulate as she looked. Her blue eyes looked down at the hand being offered by such a disagreeable girl. Yet, she was taught to be polite. While her speech left much to be desired, her actions didn’t have to be rude. She clasped Kit’s hand firmly into a proper handshake. “I-I’m Kaitlyn. N-nice t-to me-meet y-you, Kit,” she said in response.Reducio

Honestly, was Kit that intimidating? Kaitlyn had literally been stuttering as she introduced herself. Wow, good job Kit. After all, she was just a first year, like Kaitlyn, who just happened to be good at transfiguration. Having been born a metamorphmagus, she had a talent for it, after all. Like any other metamorphmagus, Kit had obtained the talent since birth. Kit’s grandfather had been a metamorphmagus, but unfortunately it skipped over Kit’s father, Alexander, so it took some time, about a year, for him to actually notice Kit’s talent. Kit didn’t mind- it was nice to know though. So she had her fair share of tricks and pranks on her muggle classmates, which eventually got her in trouble. But now she was at Hogwarts, and she could show off her talents to everyone. She concentrated, then pop!- her hair turned bright green. ‘Much better,’ she said to herself, but loud enough for Kaitlyn to overhear.
‘Shall we get on with it then?’ Kit said, producing her wand from her robe’s inner pocket. Sadly, it was one of Walnut wood and Unicorn Tail Hair, a classic complication for Ravenclaw nerds. The spell, however, was easy enough: Whistle to Watch, a perfect transfiguration spell for beginners, which was probably the perfect definition of Kaitlyn. Of course though, Kit hadn’t spent her free time practicing useless spells either. Frankly, she didn’t tare when she would ever need to use that spell in real life. ‘Whistle to watch- I’m sure you were listening when the professor explained it.’ Deftly, she flicked her wand in the accurate movement, as she enounciated the incantation. The bright yellow whistle that sat on the desk started to morph, steadily turning into an absolutely horrid watch of the same colour. She would gag if someone ever forced her to wear such a thing. A bright yellow watch… just imagine.
Before Kit could choke on the disgusting colour of the watch, she turned to Kaitlyn with a smug smile. ‘Now, you try, I suppose.’

Thoughts: italicsKaitlyn’s eyes grew wide at Kit’s demonstration of her metamorphmagus ability. She had previously read it in a book, obviously not having that ability herself. It looked like such a lovely ability to have, especially to be able to use it whenever you wanted. “Th-that’s so cool,” she whispered, having no idea if Kit would want her half yelling that in class. She was normally not a trouble maker, and wouldn’t be randomly yelling gibberish in class. That was not her style. “I t-think our h-housemates w-would appreciate t-that after a Q-Quidditch game o-or broomrace … I-it looks g-good on y-you,” she continued, quietly, still stuttering.
As Kit began her attempt at the transfiguration at hand: Whistle to Watch, Kaitlyn stayed quiet as the other girl completed her transfiguration. Clearly with more pose than she could muster. “Nice,” she whispered, seeing the watch. The bright yellow color of the watch did not impact her. It was still a successful transfiguration in her eyes. She removed her own wand from a pocket in her skirt. Chestnut wood and unicorn hair. When she heard this description in Olivander’s, she had no idea what it meant. It sounded cool, but she knew there had to be something connecting it to her. ‘I should research that one day,’ she thought.
Turning her attention to the whistle on the desk in front of her, Kaitlyn closed her eyes briefly, trying to concentrate. She opened her eyes and waved her wand as described. “Tunc Sibilus,” she enenciated. Once the spell hit the whistle, the whistle began to spin. And spin, and spin. As it slowed down, the watch on her desk still had a mouth-piece on it. She frowned. “Oh f-fudge,” she muttered. Before she even considered how it would sound, she turned to Kit. “What d-did you d-do to m-make yours?” She asked, still whispering.Reducio
