-HISTORY/BACKGROUND STORY-

Gareth Morgan is and has always been an introvert, much unlike the other people in his life. His hobbies include art and model-making, but also just messing around with circuits and old toys. He’s always been a hands-on learner, so over the years he’s developed a knack for things like sculpting and tinkering with various tech. This was the only real talent he brought into Hogwarts, as he’s always had average grades in school and knew nothing about magic.

Growing up, he had a little brother named Aiden for company, though they didn’t always get along well. His parents were on the stricter side, forbidding things like junk food and most cartoons. That didn’t bother him though, since he was always too busy with his models to watch TV.

2014
While many others tend to remember their first use of magic with fondness, Gareth’s is a bit of a sore spot for him. It happened when he was about 7 years old, when he was painstakingly fixing a model that he had been working on for months. When his brother decided to come over and bother him, Gareth ignored him at first. However, after Aiden started grabbing at the delicate model, he shoved him away… except something else had shoved too, as his brother immediately flew across the room, landing hard on the wooden floor. Luckily, they found out later that he only had a mild concussion, but one can imagine how big of a shock that was for his family. His parents had come running into the room to find his brother on the floor, bawling his eyes out, and Gareth sitting motionless a few meters away, model abandoned. Both parents being muggles, they just took in the scene, assumed the obvious, and promptly grounded Gareth for the next month. Of course, in the years after, he would come to understand that he had some sort of extraordinary ability, but in that moment he processed nothing except the fact that he had hurt his brother (honestly kinda traumatizing for a 7 year old kid).

2016
When Gareth was 9, his dad’s company offered him an executive position in Brighton (england), and they moved there by the end of the year.

Overall, his experience moving schools was Not Good. The muggle education system in England was way different from the one he was used to. Not only did he have to get used to the uniforms, he also had to make new friends (which was hard enough already without the cultural differences). Most days, he’d end up sitting by himself during breaks, fiddling with an art model or a broken voice recorder, generally avoiding the other kids. It’s not that he didn’t want to make friends or anything, he just wasn’t interested in being part of any cliques. He’d learned pretty early on not to trust huge groups of loud children. Besides, he was happy not having anything to distract him from his projects.

2018
Just when Gareth had gotten somewhat adjusted to his new school, he received his Hogwarts letter in the mail. His parents would have thought it was a scam, had it not been for his various displays of magic over the years. To everyone (including Gareth himself), this was the explanation they’d been looking for to explain his entire childhood. So, when the new school year came, he packed his trunk, sucked up his social anxiety, and set off - once again - into a completely unfamiliar and stress-inducing environment.

Honestly at this point he had nothing to lose.
