For this month only I will be doing themed responses. Basically the one I did for tasting tent.

"Not to be nosy and annoying, or anything, but would you mind telling me who this 'Brannigan' is? Does he go to Hogwarts as well?"
[FONT="Century Gothic"]Oh Frost how innocent you are, how curious you are, and admittedly...how unintentionally insensitive you are. At hearing her honest question Quinn paused in thought, blinking a few times. It was only now that he realized his mistake. In talking about Brannigan which for Quinn was an already touchy subject, he did so quite fondly and in an excited manner no less.

So of course this would cause Frost to be quite curious about who this Brannigan fellow could be. He didn't blame her of course, this was his own fault for being so sensitive about the issue. It's been a year sense his death he should be over something like this and yet everytime someone asked him about the man. Quinn couldn't help but get emotionally depressed about the issue. The light would fade from the small jade like gems that were his eyes, the color would drain from his tanned and slightly red skin making his face look a bit paler then it was. Consequentially causing his dark freckles to pop out even more. His posture would slump and his tone would dampen considerably.

Yes, in short Quinn would like a sorry sap, and would you look at that. It was his current state. "Nae...Brannigan didn't go here, he was a muggle...a sailor really. Taught me all I know...helped me through so-" Abruptly large globs of liquid coalesced on the edges of his eyes threatening to spill over. The red head quickly went to wipe them, sniffling in the process and cursing a bit too loudly.

"Sorry sorry I get...like this sometimes. But Brannigan was...like a second father to me. Funny, brash, wise, stubborn, intelligent, goofy..." He began to laugh and then unable to hold back the tears he had surpressed, they came flowing out. Curse what ever being made him this way, why was he so emotioinal!?

It was obvious by the way his demeanor changed, how he talked about the person, and his sudden outburst. That this person was no longer of this world, and was undeniably close to Quinn himself. Even still his sudden outburst of crying was strange, sad, and spontaneous. Apparently the one word that accurately described the reliable but strange red head.

In that moment, it seemed as if the world had simply put itself on pause. The breeze that blew her hair gently could no longer be heard whooshing past her ear. She couldn't even focus on anything expect for Quinn's eyes, that had so quickly lost the light in them. The boy had just melted. He just went soft all of a sudden and she didn't know what to do with herself.

"Quinn?" She spoke softly as he got paler. What had she done? What had she said that made him shrink like that? There was no doubt that Frost was sometimes insensitive. It was one of the traits about herself that she didn't even know was there. Her obliviousness to most things made it seem as though she gave no care. It was unintentional, of course. A trait you would never expect from a girl like her.

And then it was as if a tornado of regret ripped through her. She had no idea until after he had spoken. Was Brannigan dead? How could she have been so stupid to say that? And it just made it worse now that Quinn had started tearing up. Frost's hand raised to softly smack her forehead. "Oh dear. Quinn, I'm so sorry I didn't mean to bring it up like that I was just-" The girl by instinct shut up. She knew that it was never a good idea to keep talking when it was the matter of a dead loved one.

So instead she just sat there, letting out sighs and offering him looks that screamed 'I am really sorry'. What more could she do? She would've hugged him, but that's just strange to hug someone you've only just met. The ginger placed a hand on his shoulder instead, butting all of the emotions one would put into a hug with that hand. She would smile in hopes that she cheered him up at least a teeny bit. "Hey, you know what. It's alright of you feel sad. I didn't mean to make you feel bad, really."

"N-Nae d-dun be sowwy." The tears continued to stream out. Once the flood gates opened it seemed like an impossible task to close them. In the end his cries intensified and he grabbed the closest thing he could find. In this case it was Frost herself.

The young wild haired ginger pulled her in for a surprisingly tight hug. O'course the boy knew it was most likely gonna be awkward. But darn Quinn needed something to hug and Frost was there. It was a source of comfort for him, and a source of calming. Hugs always were they were his one fatal weakness.

In this instance it was a necessary distraction, to what? One may ask well the current panic attack that was beginning to ivertake his body triggered by the flood of memories Quinn had surpressed for months so he wouldnt have to think about Brannigan. So he wouldn't have to hurt, to feel his heart sharter into infinitely smaller and smaller pieces. His attack was also being triggered by the fact he was so close to a large body of water, as it was triggering his drowning memory.

Quinn hugged Frost tighter and closed hisbeyes shut, his attacj was getting worse with no end in sight for it. It sucked, and he knew it wasn't her fault. He needed to let her know that he desperately needrd to. So between his irregular breathing he spoke or at least tried his best to. "S-S....Sorry...dun be...sorry...n-not...fault." his breathing quickened and body began to tremble.

Somebody please make this stop!!

Oh, goodness. His tears kept on streaming out and honestly, she didn't know what to do. Not many people had cried like this in front of her. And none had ever cried because of something she brought up. Why did she even have to ask about him? Damn her and her curiosity, it was either a blessing or a curse. "Well, I can't really help being sorry-" Frost couldn't even finish her sentence. Because within seconds, she was tightly wrapped in Quinn's arms. She had not thought that this is what was going to happen when she came outside. The boy had a surprisingly tight grip on her, the girl was already pretty weak with her noodle arms.

But if someone needed a hug, Frost would never say no to them. Free hugs were something she was great at, everyone needed a hug once in a while. Especially if they were in need of comfort. The redhead gave him a small sympathetic smile and gently hugged him back. "Hey, are you okay?" Perhaps this was what a panic attack was like. Never had she experienced one, so maybe it was just like feeling so bad that you can hug a near stranger and feel better. Her pale hand found it's way up to his red hair and patted his head. It was an action that the girl found calming when done to her, so perhaps it would help him too.

After a few seconds of her hugging him, his strong grip got just a bit tighter. "Oof-" Again, she was not expecting that and was not nearly ready to be so compacted, by a hug no less. But she could stand the pressure for a little while longer if that's what it takes to get him to stop crying and feel a little better. Maybe in the future if she and Quinn did become friends, which the redhead wouldn't mind, Frost would become to used to the strong hugs. "No, it's okay. You're okay, you'll be alright." The soothing tone of her voice was meant to reassure the boy that he was okay. If he kept crying for a little longer, then she would let him. As long as Quinn would be okay, she would be okay with whatever she had to do to get him there.

It took him a solid ten minutes of neigh constant tight hugging and crying but he did eventually calm down. Which was followed profusely by him breaking off the sudden hug. The young Irish lad began to profusely apologize for his sudden change in demeanor and uncouthly out of character behavior.

There were many reasons mainly only known to Quinn for why he would act the way he would. Why he would randomly have outbursts at times when certain phobias were approached or names mentioned. Quinn did not like troubling anyone he did not like feeling weak, vulnerable or incapable of doing things himself. So at times that is why he would just go off and do things himself. It's why he rarely asked for help despite contrary belief otherwise. He in general was a very private individual who pretended to be very open.

To a lot of people he would never mention just how close to Brannigan he was. To him Brannigan was more then a father figure, he was a mentor, a confidant, a friend. He was the one person in the entire world that Quinn felt he did not have to hide anything from. And despite knowing that he was gonna die, it did not make the pain any easier for him. In fact it made it all that much harder for the usually happy go lucky ginger.

This all lead to him keeping anything and everything to himself. In many ways its why Quinn would always stand up for others but never truly for himself. It's his problem he can deal with it, he doesn't need help. It was those thoughts that lead him starting at a very young age to bottling up his emotions for months sometimes years at a time. It's why he was so unbalanced and sporadic with his emotions, the vessel was already forming too many cracks and they were beginning to leak out. Time would only tell if and when he finally exploded.

He really should confide in someone, but who he wondered? Maybe given time Frost would turn into that person, and maybe in time through the help of friends he could heal. But for now..."Ah hope ya can forgive this eijit for his behavior Frosty." He did his best to show off his signature happy go lucky reassuring smile. But somehow it became more of a slight grimace.

During the hug of death, not really death but his grip could be considered deadly, Frost did her absolute best to not be awkward and just let him let it all out. The last thing she wanted to do was to make him feel bad for his actions. It wasn’t that she didn’t like him or was weirded out by him that much, it’s just that it was unexpected and she wasn’t prepared for a merciless grasp on her from a near-stranger.

The sudden release of pressure and force of him pulling away made a little ‘oof’ sound escape her. At least he had calmed down a bit more and wasn’t crying, hopefully meaning she had actually done something to help by being there for him to cling onto. Softly smiling at him with sympathy, she gently shook her head at him. “Don’t worry, there’s no reason to apologize. You did nothing wrong.” In all honesty, it was a teeny bit awkward, but he seemed to trust her enough to hug and cry to, and that was making her a bit proud of herself. Or perhaps she perceived it wrong and she was convenient at the time to take his wild emotions.

Clearing her throat, Frosty furrowed her eyebrows at Quinn, watching him think for a moment, not wanting to break the silence. What the hell had just happened? Definitely something she had said triggered him and she didn’t know what, so it was decided that she would never say anything like that again to him. Quinn has told her it wasn’t her fault, but in a way, it was. He couldn’t blame himself for having emotions, but he could very well blame her for saying the wrong thing. As one could see, curiosity could be a blessing and a curse. It took a toll on her inner conscience to know that she was part of the reason for this nice boy to become so sad right in front of her eyes.

Perhaps one day she would learn what was sad about, and perhaps one day she could be called a friend by Quinn, perhaps if the day really came, she would have been hugged so many time that she’d be used to the force. But today she was okay with just reassuring him that his outburst was alright. Really, Frost appreciated his attempt to revert and tell her that he was sorry for practically no reason, but it was plain silly. “Hm, well I don’t see an eijit around, just a boy with an awesomely strong grip.” Frost laughed softly, attempting to joke around a little bit.

“But in all seriousness, it is truly okay. You’ve done nothing worth apologizing for! There’s nothing wrong with being a little vulnerable sometimes. Trust me, I’m vulnerable all the time!” Reaching out her hand, she gently ruffled Quinn’s hair, a sign of affection to reassure him that it was okay. “And you don’t have to force a smile, okay? It’s okay to be sad. I’ll smile for you!” To make a point, the girl made her finger point to her smile that she had made a bit wider just to show him.
