Hot Cocoa! And Other Delicacies
“My sister’s name is Elizabeth, but we just call her Lizzy,” Dennis started. He can’t recall anyone actually asking about his family before in the time that he had been at Hogwarts! He never shared their names or ages or what they did or what they liked. That now seemed strange to the young Ravenclaw. Shouldn’t friends care about each other’s families? “Lizzy is 9 but she will be 10 here soon. She is a good girl. But of the three of us she’s the most likely to get herself into trouble willfully. She can be very stubborn.” Dennis felt really relaxed getting to introduce his family. The thought of Ying and Lizzy hanging out was really comforting to him. Ying could definitely get her to behave like a lady! “I have a younger brother too,” Dennis offered. At this point he just missed everyone.
“Seamus is really cute. He will be 9 this year. I really miss my family sometimes.” His voice was distant for a moment but he snapped out of it. It seemed Ying and Dennis had very different experiences of family. Ying would definitely be welcomed with open arms if she ever met them. He realized he never got her brother’s name but Ying also didn’t seem like she was really in a sharing mood when it came to that topic.
The conversation was simmering to a close as they discussed the last details of their Hogsmeade invasion. He got her point about not moving in a large crowd. It would probably be for the best to keep the groups small. “I understand. We definitely don’t want to get caught!” Dennis agreed, shaking his head enthusiastically. “Valentine’s Day will be our best opportunity.” Dennis didn’t really pay attention to the fact that he set a meeting with a girl on Valentine’s Day. The thought of doing something that he found dangerous - in danger of getting caught - and the chance to go to Hogsmeade too good to pass up. He got up from his seat and said, “Let’s set up the meeting place later! I will send you an owl!” Dennis flashed his trademark boyish grin and waved farewell to his new friend. He definitely hoped they would have many adventures together!
