The suspiciously chipper brunette who ran straight up to her, the moment she stepped foot into the Duelling club should have been warning enough. Renelle wasn’t even sure of the girls name, just that she had been the one to arrange this whole thing, and she had the nerve to act like the two were old friends or something?

“Just Renelle, please.” Really, how did the girl even knew about that nickname, anyway? Only Astra called her that at times, to get under her skin. Happy here was certainly not Astra, and the Ravenclaw had no interest in becoming bosom buddies.

Raising an eyebrow, she peered curiously at the girl. “So, you’re the moderator, huh? What’s your name?” She had a sneaky feeling they had met somewhere before - was Happy on the Quidditch team? - but she couldn’t very well be expected to remember every single person she happened to come across in the crowded castle, could she?

Not responding to Happy’s enthusiastic encouragement, she started looking around the place. She did not think she had been here before, having opted for Quidditch in terms of sports instead and never having the chance to go down to watch the various duelling matches that had taken place earlier in the school year.

She didn’t feel nervous, not exactly. Though she was seriously reconsidering her state of mind, to decide to go for a random duel. The first year wasn’t even that good at spells. With her luck, she would be running around on fire the entire time, not having succeeded in even one of her attempts to harm her oppoentent.

Well, that was a comforting thought.

Sere stepped into the Duelling Club for the first time. There is a feeling of nervousness that she -as usual- tried to suppress down so that her expression doesn't show it at all. But, why is she here? Here's the thing. Sere got an anonymous owl containing an invitation to take part in a duel. She didn't know whether this caused by her new -soon to be duellist- title or whether it was pure coincidence when someone asked her to fight in a duel.

Sere furrowed her eyebrows when she found someone she really know already climb on the piste, Renelle Dalton. A good girl who was still willing to gave her help after her bad prejudice was exposed. The other student beside Renelle is a brunette girl whom Sere knew as an active girl. Sere often heard about the events held by the girl, but had never attended any of them. Is this duel also held by her?

"Hi," Sere climbed onto the piste and greeted them, trying to alert her existence to both of the students.

Sere cleared her throat and then continued, "We meet again, Renelle. It's good to see you here." She turned to the brunette girl, "I... saw you several times in various places. Delainie, if I'm not mistaken?" Sere tried to remember the girl's name. "So, who's invited me to come here, and..." Sere emphasized her words at the end, "Who's gonna be my first match?"

This is her first duel. It's normal for Sere not to be as confident as usual, right? But wait... Does she really feel unconfident? Because she doesn't really show it at all.

Did this girl really just ask who I was? “Renelle, it’s me, Delainie? I’m the seeker on the quidditch team and we’ve met in the Ravenclaw Common Room before. You met my bunny, remember?” We weee both in the same team, and had had an interesting interaction before, did she seriously not remember who I was?
Another girl walked in, Sere Nade was her name. Perfect! Both of our duellist were here now, we could begin. “Hello! Sere correct? I’m Delainie, I’m the one who organized this!” I held out my hand for her to shake, if she wanted to of course.
“Yeah, you and Renelle will be duelling! It’s only you two so far, but we’ll see, as long as this goes well there will be plenty more duels hosted by me!” I gave the two girls a moment to get to know each other, but it seemed that they had already met. Honestly, I was still going to give them a bit more time because I was actually kind of scared. I had never hosted a duel, I didn’t know how to do anything. I think I just stand up here and watch but I’m sure that there’s much more to it. I had to hide those feelings though, I’m not sure how they would feel knowing I have no idea what I’m doing, but probably not good.
“Well, are you two ready? Take your spots on the piste” I took a deep breath before saying “On your marks, get set, go!”[/size]

Ah, right. Delainie Silverstring, bunny enthusiast and fellow Quidditch player. She vaguely remembered exchanging a few words with her before, though just barely. But who could blame her? It wasn’t like she could be expected to care about insignificant people!

She grimaced. Gods, she sounded mean.

“Oh, right!” She cleared her throat to try and save herself from the awkwardness of the situation, looking anywhere but at the girl in front of her. “I just didn’t recall at first because… I was just, um…” Come on, come on… Think of something! She was saved from telling Delainie a lie she couldn’t come up with anyway by the arrival of a certain dark-haired girl.

Saved by the Nade. Silently thanking Sere a thousand times over, the first year turned toward her acquaintance a bit too enthusiastically. “Sere! Hey!” She mentally facepalmed at her very out-of-character greeting. Hopefully neither would notice.

Renelle had almost forgotten how amusing Sere’s tone of speaking could be at times. The words sounded like they were being spoken to the Minister of Magic or some kind of long-lost rival, not a fellow student. Well, comedic relief was always welcomed.

She stepped forward. “Me.” Her tone felt like she was challenging Sere to the duel, and she bit back a laugh. She gestured half-heartedly toward Bunny Girl. “B- Delainie here set it up, she’s gonna moderate it.”

And with that, she took her place in the piste, readying her wand. Hopefully these weren’t going to be her last moments on Earth.

Ah, so she also has a bunny. Sere kept their conversation in her head as she approached them. Should I introduce Buddy -my bunny- to hers? Maybe on the next spring. I'll ask her about this later, if I remember to do so.

Sere accepted Delainie's handshake, "Yes, I am. Sere Nade. It's a pleasure to know you personally." Deep inside her heart, Sere wondered how much energy does this blue-eyed girl has so that she is able to hold various types of events in her first year, including this unofficial duel.

"I guess you are in a good condition today, Renelle." It is clear that Renelle's greeting she heard just now is the most 'excited' thing that ever come out from the tall Ravenclaw girl's mouth in the four months -or so- they had known each other. She greeted me as if I had just saved her from an inevitable disaster, but there's no way that thing would happened, right?

"Ah, I see." Sere cleared her throat. "Okay. I got it." Knowing who's her first opponent doesn't make her intimidated, instead she is excited. Sere felt that no amount of awkwardness could beat the awkwardness of their -Renelle and her- first meeting, so this unofficial duel would possibly be more relaxing -and perhaps also gonna be more fun- since they already passed that horrible awkward moment.

"Well, then..." Sere took out her wand and headed to her place on the piste, opposite of Renelle, "...let the game begins."

Already, in just the first round, there was already a spell shooting across the piste. Renelle had cast the knockback jinx, Flipendo, and very well too I must add. She was able to perfectly cast the spell as it shot out of her wand, and straight towards Sere, hitting her straight on! She went flying backwards as the spell came in contact with her body. My eyes widened in amazement, and an impressed smile crept onto my face, that was good. I was already into this duel, I knew it would get really good. We had two great duellist together, how could it not be amazing?

“Nice Renelle!” I shouted at the girl happily “good try Sere!”. I hoped to in courage the two, and make them want to win this duel even more. That’ll just make it more interesting for me to watch. I had been in some unofficial duels before, and having someone yelling encouraging things to you definitely helped a good lot.

“Take a moment, get yourselves ready again” I said loudly to the girls, “return to your places on the piste!”. Once they each had a few moments to recover, I shouted “and… go!!”. It was time for round two.

As soon as the first round started, Sere shouted one of her favorite spell that she learned from the Herbology class, The Fire-Making Spell, "Incendio!" The spell was casted successfully, but unfortunately it couldn't hit the target as she desired. Whoa, this Ravenclaw girl apparently has a pretty good agility as well as evasion skill! Sere just realized that a tall-athletic body would be very useful at sometimes like this. Should I start exercising too? But, duelling itself is also a sport, isn't it? No, I think it is more like a sports game than the original sports... just like a chess in the muggle world.

Sere is suddenly busy with her own thoughts and forget the fact that she is still in a duel. Reality pulled her back when she heard a spell that is also very familiar to her ears, Flipendo, casted by Renelle directly at her, "I... Umm... Ukh!" Sere is thrown backwards because the spell managed to push her. Sere makes a stance with her feet to block the overwhelming backward-push from The Knockback Jinx. Beside having a good evasion, she is also quite strong!

"Focus, Sere!" The Gryffindor girl whispered to herself, just as Delainie gave instructions to get back to her position because the next round is about to start. Please make this one works!

To no one’s surprise, she absolutely dominated in the first round. The lingering awkwardness from earlier was discarded as Bunny Girl signalled the start of the duel, and immediately, Renelle’s mind went into strategy mode. Flipendo was a spell she’d never had much trouble performing, and its effects seemed ideal for a situation such as this.

Her thoughts were proven to be well-backed as she watched the spell hit the designated target, knocking Sere back with what she knew was overwhelming force. A smirk made its way onto her face. Don’t get her wrong, she had nothing against the Gryffindor girl- it was just so satisfying to be proven better. In a strictly humble, unpretentious way of course.

Her sense of superiority was future supported by the all too easy evasion of the spell her opponent sent firing her way. Really, were they duelling or…. Something patronizing that rhymed with duelling. She was good at many things, but it appeared that poetry wasn’t one of them.

Aye, no matter! For now, she was blazing! And best of all, not literally, because she’d clearly avoided the fire spell like the pro she was! Maybe she ought to consider a career switch- Quidditch was fun and all, but sitting pretty on the bench while her teammates braved the elements and dropped like flies one by one could loose its charm after a while.

As the girls started the next round, a particularly interesting event happened. Renelle, who had cast the kickback jinx the round before perfectly, tried it again. She must have gotten a bit too confident in it, because instead of hitting Sere again, she missed. Sere, on the other side of the piste, also decided to cast the knockback jinx. She must have seen how in the last round Renelle did it so nicely, because it smoothly travelled through the air to hit Renelle.

Oof, that’s gotta hurt I thought. I watched as she flung up through the air, similarly to how Sere did in the round before. Poor Renelle over there, but that’s how duels work, you shouldn’t sign up for one if you don’t wanna get hit by some magic. But wow, such a sudden change of events for Renelle isn’t it. I watched to make sure she was alright, giving her some time to get herself back together before the next round. “Are you okay? Take a minute, then please return to your starting positions, gets ready” I loudly said. I stood there for a bit, giving the girls time, but pretty quickly got bored, I wanted more action. “Okay, that’s time, on your marks, get set… go!”
